What is success? Money? Power? Influence? or Freedom? The answer is YES! to all the above and much more. Best-selling author Paul J. Meyer give you 24 simple guidelines to unlock your potential...and your future. "This book is a must!" Ken Blanchard, (Co-author of The One-Minute Manager)
Each one of the keys of complete success is a small chapter of the book and includes stories from Mr. Meyer's life, as well as tips on how to apply the lessons to find your own personal success. I made notes throughout the reading. It was a quick read and I found it very inspiring.
A great book - worthy of a second read. I will keep it in my collection and read it again. As a success book this man does not shy away from his faith and the great benefits he gets from it. That is the first thing. Other interesting observations which I don't always find in books like this is that he actually put it into practice. He also majors in relationships - family, work, friends( a major part of his life), he likes helping people (i.e. not successful in his little isolated corner), he is a great leader and he action driven especially when critical. A lot of the stuff is down to earth common sense, yet the author earns respect - he is not a pushover billionaire...
There are a couple of certainties that this book reflects. One, Paul J. Meyer has been extremely successful in his life; two, his Christian faith is extremely important to him; and three, he's passionate about sharing his keys of success so others can follow and do the same. “24 Keys That Bring Complete Success” by Paul J. Meyer with a Foreword by John C. Maxwell distills Meyer's teachings into a concise book of just under 150 pages. In it, you'll find some gems regarding success and a healthy dose of Meyer's Christian faith as well. I state this, because if you are averse to books that speak about Christianity, this book won't be for you, but if you share Meyer's beliefs you will undoubtedly gain much more from it and enjoy it immensely. Meyer's experiences can shed light on your own path and help you achieve more and live life to the very fullest. Meyer teaches that success doesn't just happen by accident, but rather because of the choices you make and the steps you follow.
The 24 Keys include concepts such as attitude, gratitude, positive self-image, goal setting, choices, discipline, priorities, your word, integrity, living, forgiveness, not worrying, laughing at life, love, prayer, walking with Christ, finding God's will for your life, and more. Again, you must remember this book is part of the “Fortune, Family & Faith Series.” There is quiet a bit on faith as well as family and fortune. So if you don't like books with a “religious” or “Christian” theme in the lessons, pass this book on by, but if you share Meyer's beliefs grab it quick. If you are somewhere in the middle, check it out and gain what is useful for your life, circumstances and beliefs.
My favorite chapter was the chapter on discipline: If You Don't Have Discipline, You Don't Have Anything. Meyer really believes success is much more that achievement, wealth, fame, power and influence. And while this book will help you attain all of those, Meyer encourages and writes about success being much more. For Meyer, success must include family and faith along with Fortune, and it's hard to argue with the success he's had in all areas. This is an easy book to read, but the simple lessons, or keys, are quite powerful and will take you a lifetime to implement and live out. So what are you waiting for? One of the all time great keys to succeeding at anything is “Do it now!”
An excellent book. Very practical. Great examples and eye-opening illustrations. J. M. Meyer has walked his talk and here he reveals how you too can emulate him.
