I will be sure to recommend this book to some friends, so that they can obtain the same knowledge as me.
Plot/Summary Cocaine is an illegal drug. It is one of the most used drugs out there, due to the cheaper price. Cocaine started out by being grown in South America, in the 1750s. Workers in Peru used it so they had more energy, and could go longer without eating. These are just two of the many effects. At this time, nobody knew anything about the drug, including how addicting it is. A tolerance is easily built to cocaine, with dependance coming soon after. At first one line will give the user the best feeling they have ever had. Then before you know it, the user will do three lines, just to feel normal. Users spend most of their time, and money on getting more cocaine. Many drug addicts become homeless, because they have spent most of their money on drugs, and cannot go without it. Hanging out with a group of addicts, or skipping school to use the drug, are some of the first steps on the road of addiction. When high on cocaine, users enjoy the enhanced mood, feeling of more energy, and feeling of euphoria. Some side effects that users do not want are panicking, paranoia, anxiety, and feelings of restlessness. Cocaine is most often snorted, but can be done many other ways too. You can inject it, or rub it into your gums as well. Around 1 million americans use this drug every month. Others also smoke crack, which is a lot like cocaine. Cocaine affects your brain in many ways, including releasing dopamine, and speeding up your brains thoughts and movements. When using cocaine, welts may appear on your skin. Also, cocaine users have faces that become wrinkly, and droopy, faster and easier. This drug comes with many side effects, with none of them helping humans out.

Reviews and Recommendations I gave this book four out of five stars. I am glad that I found this in the library. So much useful information was read in this book that will be stored in my brain forever. All of the facts in this book are accurate, and have a purpose. I recommend this book to men and women, 15 years of age and older. All teens need to know the facts about drugs, so that they will hopefully stay away. If this book is read at too young of an age, younger children have a tendency to try new things, and I hope this is not one. Overall, I am glad that I read this book and will be sure to tell a friend about it.
My personal response to Cocaine is that this is a very educating book. I thought it had a lot of great facts in it and really went in depth on some subjects. It was showed really good representation of what can happen to your life if you begin to us drugs. This book seemed to really flow as it went on from one topic to the next and taught you about cocaine in a very easy manner. I liked that this book wasn't a stupidly long book that took more than a week to read. For me, this was an awesome book and I feel that I learned a lot about cocaine.
There really isn't a plot to this book but it does tell you the history of cocaine. It gives you some neat trivia about the drug like how it used to be in Coca-Cola. This book also shows the affects of cocaine on your friends and family. This book also tells the history of cocaine and how it comes from the coca plant. People used to just chew the coca plants, now they make a thick substance that is then processed into the powder form of cocaine or it can be left in rocks as crack cocaine. Overall this book is very interesting and I would read it again.
I would recommend this book to anyone in high school because it is about drugs but isn't a very graphic book. I think it will give you a lesson on the dangers of cocaine and how it can destroy your life. Anyone who wants to know more about cocaine should read this book.
Personal Response: I liked this book Cocaine. It shows how others can lose some one close i like did a little bit ago to drugs . It offered lots about something so big out there in the drug world. How it could go from being yourself and then taking some and the next thing you know is you're stealing from your friends to get more. Plot Summary: First this book starts out with a young woman that says she has lost her family and I bet you can all guess what happen yes she did cocaine and got addicted to it so she went to her friends and family started stealing to get her next fix as the book says. The next section is all about where it comes from and what we used it for before we saw it was killing lots of are people and families. Cocaine is from South America and was brought over here in the 1900s and how we stated to replace it for sugars in are home and soda like coca cola in the 1960's. Or how we realized it was killing are people in 1955 so we tried to get all of it out and by 1962 it was out of every soda and now it is sugar and other crap in soda. Read the book to learn about what cocaine does and what the signs are to see if its in your community. Recommendation: I would like to recommend this book to students that are interested in research on this kinda stuff or just a nice read. Lots of information right in the beginning.
