Jenna Rose holds a special place in my heart. She is a goddess in the writing world and I am so happy I discovered her books one day. The read was just as taboo and spicy and it had me from the blurb. This was a novella so I don't want to give much away but this totally required a towel on Aisle 8.

A Step You Shouldn't Take was about 18-year-old Luna Stryker and 22-year-old Blake Torres.
Blake wasn't too happy when his father told him he had remarried and that his new wife had a daughter, but he had no say in it. He had recently moved back in with his dad after college, so he had to learn to live with the situation.
When his new stepmother Susan, and her daughter Luna arrived, Blake was just finishing putting the final coat of paint on his new stepsister's bedroom. His dad let him know they were there and expected him to be on his best behavior when he went to meet them. However, upon seeing Luna for the first time, he was almost speechless. He was barely able to greet her but managed it somehow.
There were a few spicy scenes in this book, starting with Luna's first night in Blake's home. This kept up as their relationship blossomed. Neither her mother nor his father were aware of it as the two kept up the appearance that they didn't get along.
One thing that Luna told Blake was that her father was a mob boss, and this dude put in an appearance in the usual way that threatened their relationship. But that was dealt with PDQ. Immediately after that happened, the two ended up telling their parents about their relationship, though things didn't go so well.
This was a very quick read, and it was full of angst, drama, and a touch of heartache that was quickly dealt with. The two main characters were, for the most part, well-developed, but they both had a bit of maturing to do and by the end of the epilogue it was noticeable that the growth did happen. Although this was a micro short story, it was good enough to earn a four-star rating. It would have gotten five stars except for all of the grammatical errors.

🔥HOT🔥 & a little taboo with some drama

I will fully admit, I put off reading this story after I read the first couple pages… HOWEVER, I’m glad a few days later I gave it another go, it’s a super steamy story & I loved the MMC & FMC together 🥰
The MMC was a great guy who’d been hurt and hated women (at first), however, he was insta obsessed with his new step-sister, the FMC. She too was blown away by him and wanted him.
Their first scene together was funny & super 🔥🔥🔥. I’m fact, every time they were together was HOT.
The only thing I didn’t love about the story was the side story about her dad. I also wished the story didn’t feel like it abruptly ended then jumped forward 5 years. I really wanted to read about some key moments in their life that we didn’t get to see, but the epilogue was even 🔥🔥 🤣
Overall, it’s a great story & I recommend it!!!

Blake doesn't trust women since his mother ran off. He is not happy with his father who stepped down from his position as leader of the crime family when he fell in love with a woman. Blake is going home to meet his father's new bride and her daughter, his new stepsister. Just one look at Luna and his whole life changes. He is very attracted to her and would make her his if she wasn't his stepsister.
Luna was surprised at how much she was attracted to her new stepbrother Blake. She would love to be more than a stepsister to Blake. Blake keeps running hot and cold. Finally she convinces him that they should be together. Then she has to visit her father who is also a mafia boss. When he threatens Blake if he is acting anything but brotherly, she feels like she has to break up with him to keep him safe.

When some straight from an adult movie scenario happens later that night Luna and Blake's relationship is forever changed, but will she stay or leave him like everyone else?
Luna and Blake are a great couple, amazing chemistry, hot, intense steamy scenes and a sweet and a little dirty HEA.
This book is fun, quick and full of spice. I enjoyed this greatly, it's an instalove and plays heavily on the perceived taboo aspect of Blake and Luna's relationship, but still has sweet moments, a story progression with a little twist and a cute HEA.

Our hero finally finds the heroine he has been looking for (even if he didn't know he was looking). The fact that she is about to become his step sister is other people's problem, not his.
This is a short romance story with a bit of the taboo. The story is very well written and easy to read with a well developed cast. Our hero and heroine have great chemistry right from the start. I don't really find this to be taboo and enjoyed watching them overcome this perceived issue. Along the way, we get plenty of steam and a nice HEA epilogue. Overall, another fun story and look forward to more from this author.

This is a fairly short book. You can probably read it in under two hours. Luna and Blake are new stepsiblings. Luna is 18 and Blake is 22. The book is fast paced, spicy, and taboo. These two are not related by blood, only their parent's marriage. Blake is very untrusting of women in general. The fact he fell so hard for Luna meant everything. Someone tries to stand in their way of being together. There is a happy ending. Blake and Luna are very 🔥 together!.

I liked the play with words, and the MMC did take a Step. 😂.
It's sort of a forbidden romance, love and lust at first sight for both of them. The story is flirty and fun with a little touch of danger but the love between the MCs is what I loved most in the story. The FMC has proven his love for the MMC and now he is whole.

Luna and Blake met as step siblings, but the attraction was off the charts. It was hard for Blake especially since having a past when his mom left him behind. He knew she was the one but it all a halt because of her father being a mob boss. It didn't take long for things to unravel but no worries there is definitely a great ending for them both. You are going to love this as much as I did.

Luna and Blake have an instant love for each other the minute they meet. They meet after their parents get married. Blake finds that Luna lights up his heart whether she's his step-sister or not. The chemistry between these two sizzles. Will they get their HEA??? I also loved the epilogue. Great short story.

When I opened the book and saw it was only 10 chapters I wasn't sure what to expect. It had the bones to be fleshed out into a full-length novel, however, it was just too short so everything was rushed. I'm not a fan of insta-love stories so this missed the mark for me. Had it been a full story with all the twists and turns I could see myself loving it.

this was a quick and steamy read. insta-lust between mcs. step sibling romance. there was no plot but i'm here for the smut 😂 though it really made me cringe so hard whenever they use "sis" and "bro" while doing the deed. trying to ignore that fact, i still like their scenes together. the twist at the end felt like it came out of nowhere, but it is what is is. 🤷♀️

Jenna Rose is my go too for spicy novellas! She always delivers helps get me out of reading slumps or in between reads. I’m a sucker for step siblings and these two were perfect. It had taboo romance, insta love/ insta lust & a Virgin main character. They were crazy spicy & had a really sweet love story!

Blake’s father married Luna’s mother and that makes Blake and Luna step siblings. Upon first seeing each other they are immediately attracted to each other. Soon after they meet they are intimate and this continues behind their parents back. There is a little twist in this short story that has a HEA ending. Great story.
