Enjoy this urban fantasy series by best-selling author Deborah Wilde. Love, danger, and magic collide in this action-packed conclusion featuring witty banter, a shifter romance, and the fun of a Red Riding Hood retelling.

Sometimes, you need the Big Bad Wolf to make it safely through the woods.

Dr. Raisa Montefiore, magic scientist, is on a mission to find the woman who messed with her research to create the world’s first wolf shifter.

Unfortunately, her first move lands her in handcuffs for murder. Oops.

But Raisa won’t let a little setback stop her. With a new job and her deathbed promise to her sister on the line, she sets out to convince Gideon Stern, bossy werewolf and ex-cop, to quit ghosting her and join forces. Together, they’ll hunt down their common adversary and put an end to her dangerous schemes, once and for all.

As they venture deeper into treacherous magical realms, each with a deadly smart female in charge, Raisa is torn between admiration and wishing #girlpower wasn’t quite so literal. She’s always championed intelligent women, but this is ridiculous.

Amidst the chaos, Raisa must confront her thirst for vengeance and the sizzling attraction blossoming between her and Gideon. Talk about a high-stakes experiment with an unpredictable outcome.

Will Raisa find her way back to herself, or will she forever be lost in the woods? And hey, with a hot wolf cop by her side, maybe being lost isn’t so bad after all.

Binge the complete series now!

Deborah Wilde is a global wanderer and hopeless romantic. After twelve years as a screenwriter, she was also a total cynic with a broken edit button, so, she jumped ship, started writing funny, sexy, urban fantasy and paranormal women’s fiction books, and never looked back.

She loves writing smart, flawed, wisecracking women who can solve a mystery, kick supernatural butt, banter with hot men, and still make time for their best female friend, because those were the women she grew up around and admired. Granted, her grandmother never had to kill a demon at her weekly friend lunches, but Deborah is pretty sure she could have.

she/her

Smart (ass) heroines. Epic magic. Red-hot romance.

It’s been over a decade since I’ve read my first Deborah Wilde’s novel. She was writing YA fantasy under as Tellulah Darling then. And her wit and unique way with words and the way she describes her worlds sucked my right in.

So when she started writing as Deborah Wilde I was a default audience. And I’ve never been disappointed.

This feels like the last novel in this series (which I hope it won’t be) so I had to start this review the way I did. Dr. Raisa Montefiore’s live flipped upside down when the lab she worked on her research blew up. Literally. Her boss was framed in embezzlement and she has accidentally turned a cop into a wolf shifter. I mean, if that’s not a clusterfuck, I don’t know what is. Btw, she’s Levi Montefiore’s cousin and he and Ashira are brought into this plotline. Yay!!

That was all in the first book. Now Raisa is dealing with being framed with murder, running for her life and trying to track down the nutcase that experimented on her and her twin, Robin, when they were kids.

Gideon, said wolf shifter is back in her life after ghosting her for a couple of months, and they partner again in her quest to find Anna Sula, the mad scientist nutcase. A quest that takes them to East Europe and almost kills them. Again.

Gideon and Raisa’s get close and their attraction grows, which makes things more complicated. But more fun for the reader 😉

In the midst of all that, Levi and Ashira plan their wedding, and Raisa is about to start a new job. and Raisa thought she’s risk averse…

Grab yourself a copy of this book and get comfortable for a wilde (see what I did there?), sassy and fun ride.

This book was awesome. I loved it. I was very happy to read about the original characters of the Jezebel world. It was everything I expected and more. I loved the suspense and mystery and the real game changer with the big reveal. Perfect. Dr. Raisa and Gideon are together again as they hunt down her childhood monster she dubbed Baba Yaga. After learning the ladies name and location they went in and Raisa realized she was on a dangerous path and she had to decide if she would choose vengeance and hand Baba Yaga over to the Queen of Hearts or risk the queen’s wrath. The author did a phenomenal job with the characters and storyline continuation, and I look forward to reading more. This was a great series you should definitely read.

Back to the world of Raisa Montefiore.

I read the first book in French and came out dissatisfied with the translation and frustrated by the ending.
Cliffhanger!!!

Since I jumped straight into this one, I really appreciated that the story picked up exactly where we left off, while still taking the time to reintroduce the basics of the plot and the world.
There’s a hefty dose of scientific mumbo jumbo, but I appreciate the effort to make it sound believable (even if it probably isn’t… but since I don’t have a degree in immunology, idec 🤷).

For a second volume, the beginning is a bit sluggish… or rather, the restart of the plot is. But once it gets going, the suspense, the mystery, and a particularly good plot twist kept me hooked.

This series is the ultimate slow burn, and I love that. The characters actually take the time to think and grow a little, which, in urban fantasy, is rare enough to be worth mentioning.

Raisa remains delightfully snarky, maybe even slightly petty.
And I appreciate that Gideon is absent for about 28% of the book: after all, this is Raisa’s story. He’s a guest. A cute guest, sure, but still a guest.

The multiple endings?
It felt like The Lord of the Rings movie version and, like Jack Nicholson, I was ready to walk out. But they do wrap up all the storylines, which more than makes up for it.

All in all, an uneven but tasty second volume, which I recommend… IN ENGLISH.

4.5 Stars - an excellent adventure

We are back in Toronto with Raisa and Gideon, before heading off on a most excellent adventure to get to the bottom of the mystery of the evil Golden Radial, Raisa’s altered serum and Gideon’s new life status (homo-lupus).

It had been a long time since I had read the first book and I was worried I had forgotten the backstory… within 1-2 chapters I was not only back up to speed but hurtling at a fast pace on a wild ride of intrigue and mystery, with twists & turns and plenty of fun surprises.

I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend this book and series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

It's been awhile since first meeting Raisa and Gideon, and now they're back. It took me a smidge of time getting back into their world. Joining Raisa in her quest to find answers and chatting to other scientists was a helpful refresher in what happened. And once I was back in the groove everything settled in for a good read. I'm a fan of the mixing of science and magic, it plays on that anything sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from magic thing. As usual with Deborah's characters we get real folks who have moments of driving you batty and just flat out loving them, in a world that works.

It took me a little bit to get into this, I’m blaming more my over working than the writing. But once I found the spot, Deborah sucked me in good.
Both Raisa and Gideon are doing some soul searching and finding out who they really are in this book, after realising they been living for someone else, it’s time they learn to live for themselves. While also finding that they really do like each other and it’s not just because ‘they were about to die’.

I still enjoy Deborah’s writing. The way she adds her religion to the story satisfies my religious curiosity. She also has an ability to weave characters through many different books, that you get to know and love.

It seems trouble is still stalking Raisa, when all she wanted was to continue with her work in helping burn victims, and find out who messed with her research. Now she needs to team up again with Gideon to help her get to the bottom of it. Can she find the answers she needs? Or track down the monster of her past? I enjoyed Raisa and Gideon's adventure/investigation, the humour, the science (sometimes mixed with magic) through it, and the spark between these two.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received, and giving my thoughts and opinions on it.

This second book was incredible as we see Raisa and Gideon back on an adventure together! It’s an exciting journey that draws you in as we travel into treacherous magical realms to find the woman responsible for messing with Raisa’s research. It’s thrilling, it’s engrossing and it’s full of surprises and twists and turns as we venture deeper and deeper into the woods. Suspense, intrigue, sass and snark, there is off the charts chemistry between our mc’s as they get their vengeance, it’s non stop from start to finish and I loved it!

Oh my, this is a real roller coaster of a read. I was haooy to get back into the Jezebel files' world, even if it did take me a few to get the characters sorted out in my mind. Tons of suspense, action and adventure, a few philosophical questions thrown in for good measure. As ever, beautifully written and constructed. Wonderful stuff.

Sexy, snarky action packed second book that delivers that hot breath of vengeance served. Raisa gets her due, gets her man, gets her life back. This was so good. I love the dialog. "I love science" When you read this line in context...I told you so.

Thoroughly enjoyed this - writing is top notch (as always), and I love the character growth (pun... not intended). As always, Wilde effortlessly deals with the grey areas of ethics and morals.

(Also loved the Levi/Ash story having such a great continuation!)

I’m not sure this one is for me. DNF at 43%. It felt slightly stagnant and repetitive. Little forward motion.
