Coven Cove #4

The Curse of the Crescent Moon

Rate this book
Larissa is a child of three worlds. She is a witch, a human, and a vampire…

Witches fear her…
She is in love with a forbidden human …
And Vampires want her blood.

After continuous attacks by Jean St. Claire, and seemingly no options that would protect her and those that meant everything to her, Larissa turned her back on the Coven and returned home to New Orleans and face the source of her torture. Her mission, to end the constant threat she has lived under so she can have the future that she, and others, want her to have. But Larissa’s life is seldom as simple as it seems.

When she returned, she found a world that was both consumed in its magical and dark roots, and unwilling to open old wounds. She searched for old family friends to help, but the dark cloud that hangs over her, hangs over them and suffocates them into surrender and acceptance. She was forced to form new alliances and to expand her knowledge of her three worlds beyond her wildest imagination, which meant accepting some truths that were hard fathom and having to pick a side in the ages old war between Mages and Sorceress, but would it be enough? In her view, it had to be, or there wouldn’t be a future worth living.

Oh my Oh my!!! Did not see that coming!!!

In this fourth addition to the Coven Cove series by David we see some growth in Larissa towards her relationship with Nathan, Clay and herself. She returns home to find answers to her past and finds more than she bargained for. She is pushed to the brink of breaking and yet still surprises you. We are given some answers to questions past and also given some more question to ponder. I am completely shocked with this addition and literally had to pick my jaw up from the floor! David definitely has a way of keeping you wanting more. A well deserved five star on this one!
I received this story as a gift and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Just when I ask myself “how can this series get better?” David Clark offers us The Curse of The Crescent Moon, Coven Cove’s fourth book. Larissa has had enough of the constant attacks from Jean St. Claire, the vampire who killed her parents and now holds her stepmother prisoner. He wants something very special from her as Larissa is not only a witch, but also a vampire. Upon returning to her New Orleans home, several of the Coven follow her, determined to help their friend. And, of course, Nathan, her human boyfriend joins them. As Larissa searches for clues as to how to stop this madman, or rather madvampire, and makes new friends willing to help her, she will discover that the cost will be dear. Mr. Clark has done it again. The novel is filled with edge-of-your-seat suspense, a great storyline, and fantastic characters that bring to life this nail-biter. And the cliffhanger at the end???? I await with bated breath the next novel in this series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

In this fourth of the series we find Larissa has to come to terms with her relationships with Clay and Nathan, and how they have affected her trust and strengthened her desire to rid herself of Jean St. Claire and rescue her mother from his torture. This all consuming need colors everything she does and in the end cost dearly. Not just herself but others , friends who align with her and people she loves. Quite alot of information in this one... and what fun taking it all in. The pace never lets up, taking the reader along for an exhilarating ride. The ending is one you will not see coming but opens up so many story possibilities in future books. Be warned, this is not a stand alone. If you start with this one you will be doing yourself a great injustice and missing so very much of the story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest and unbiased opinion of the tale.

This is my first book by David Clark, I haven't read the previous 3 books in the series, so I was a little lost in the storyline, but that's my own fault. Having said that, it was a great book!! Clark's writing is detailed and flows freely from line to line. He has built a great world with wonderful characters! The story was full of suspense, drama, magic and mystery! I loved the tension between Larissa and her human boyfriend...I can't imagine what it's like to be in love with your instinctive prey!! I really enjoyed reading it...so much so, that I went back and read the first 3 books to fill in the blanks I had while reading this one. It's an awesome series and I can't wait to dive into the next book!!

This book had a lot of information in it this time around. There's a lot of moving parts and a couple of surprises. I hope that Nathan pulls through what has happened to him and that the character development that Larissa had wasn't for naught. I'm surprised that nobody pertaining to the main cast hasn't met an unfortunate end yet to be honest haha. The ending has me literally rolling my eyes though 😬 one thing is suppose to increase the emotional tug we feel as readers (surprise pregnancy) and the other is that somehow Larissa has moved up in power and the person she's been after is “gone” now. Whether he died or was just removed from the story is yet to be told and seen as the Council stepped in last minute to interfere with.

A menacing curse

Jean St Claire is a menace and Larissa must find a way to put an end to his ever threatening presence. He is just too powerful. And what is the Curse of the Crescent Moon? Larissa gets help from unexpected allies but can she hope to defeat Jean? This story was not only enthralling but intriguing. Entertaining page turner with a huge surprise in the end. Eagerly awaiting the next book.

Larissa battles to save MRs Norton, she and her friends who defy Nathan's mother go all out to stop to Jean St clair and she seeks support and help. Eventually she finds help, but in the final battle Nathan is turned in to a Vampire and there is doubt if he will survive it or not and she turns out to be pregnant as well. Then she inherits a whole bunch of witches but Jean survives.
It's quite the story.

What a freaking ending. I must say this one ended with a proclamation I did not see coming. I am completely and pleasantly surprised. This will go down as one that shocked me. I can't say more without giving away a spoiler. Just wow. 4 minutes after finishing and I still can't believe it. So, if you have reached this book in the series, I highly recommend you keep going. Now to download the next book in this series.

Incredible!
As an avid reader, I've seen plenty of series that fall apart a bit after book 3. Not this one! I don't know how he does it, but Clark manages to keep this one fresh and exciting. It's beautiful and heartbreaking, too, and it's amazing.
These characters are so real and their story is very compelling. I'm dying for the next book!

Bit long and tedious in parts, but overall it is a good story. As the events follow on from that which has gone before, it really isn't a stand alone novel. Expect to read the earlier books before tackling this.
Well written and I do recommend it.
My copy was obtained as an author's arc and I voluntarily submit my review.

Fighting back

After being attacked at the coven multiple times by the head vampire in New Orleans they go there to figure out how to beat him at his own game. Then her friends follow, which gets them all banned from the coven. Now they have to figure everything out to go home. Good read.

arrrrrrrggggg

What a cliff hanger. Will Larissa ever find peace and happiness? Will Nathan be ok? Will the council fall?
So many questions and not an answer in sight.
Tender hooks all the way with this one. So much drama so many twists and turns but perfect absolutely perfect.

yay

I have a bad feeling the reason why Jean is lo longer around is the supreme has put him on 6r council which I hope isn’t true. I find it fascinating that Larissa is now the leader of the coven Jean once had

Struggling, skipping text, self indulgent story writing for 15% of 4th book. Taking a pause, a breather, bored, lost interest… intend to return.

Still more Meh. Liked what happened at the end and some of the details inside the book. As always, the big build up for action is lackluster.
