Writing for the benefit of her descendants, Bev Vollmer tells the story of her life -- from childhood to senior citizen, from city girl to rural newspaper columnist. Through stories, humour, and excerpts from her local newspaper column, the author covers the sixty years from 1940 onward as she goes from living in the Kitchener area to a Perth County farm, then on to a small town. She gives voice to women outgrowing the conventions of the times. This is a valuable asset for exploring and preserving a rare view of Ontario history -- life from a woman's perspective.
This book is interesting from the point of view that it is written as a woman telling her personal stories. Beverley has had a lot of things happen to her but I most liked how she made herself into a different woman with all the things she tried in order to have fun and to improve herself. I would have liked to know Beverley.
