Get ready for a trip down south to the trenches of Houston, Texas. The land in which the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Meet Falen. She’s grown up in the infamous Fifth Ward and life has never been easy. Her crack addicted mother left she and her sister years ago to fend for themselves. Now at nineteen Falen is left homeless and hopeless. Along with her best friend Toya the two try to climb out of the gutter. Tino is one of the biggest ballers in Fifth Ward. He’s pushing major weight. The ladies love him and he loves the ladies. He’s a sucker for a nice round rump accompanied with a pretty face. So, when he encounters a troubled Falen sparks ignite instantly. She’s everything he never knew he wanted and he’s everything she’s always been afraid of. Even as Tino tries to assist Falen she just can’t elude misfortune. Problems take on a new meaning until she stumbles across a drop being made. After consideration Falen and Toya make a brash decision to step in during a small window of opportunity and steal what they think is cash. To their complete and utter shock they ended up snatching ten kilos of cocaine. With their backs against the wall they have no choice but to get out in the streets and hustle. In this story of love, lust, and betrayal friendships will end and bonds will be broken. Money is the root of all evil and it can turn the most innocent person into a ruthless conniver. Taking ten kilos from a hustler can change lives forever, especially when no one seems to know who’s at fault. With an all-out war promising to rear its ugly head, will Tino be able to save Falen? Or will both their futures cease to exist?
Was a very good read. I have read this book multiple times and it never gets old. As many as times as I’ve read this book, I still couldn’t believe Booby would do Falen like that!! It was a good love story. It had all the great components, love hate, jealousy. This story just lets you know that sometimes you can’t trust anyone not even your own sibling who you grew up with. I’m glad about the way things worked out.
First time read 2020. This time 2024. Still good Af. Still 10 outta 10 read. Still make me wanna go through this whole author’s catalog so I remember how good her work is… I’m doing it because this author’s work is soooo good…

This book was so good! Don’t even know where to start! I love Toya! She was a good friend and she was like Falan’s voice of reason. Together they moved work like two seasoned vets! I just knew Toni was going to unalive them both and I still cannot believe the slap on the wrist Falan got. I can’t believe Joe and Jamie was getting together. Tino really couldn’t trust nobody. I hated Crystal from jump but I hated her even more the way she tried to put Toya in the grave not knowing if she was going to pull through. She was a jealous and conniving female. Whew! I am so glad Booby died! His dirty bird self had to go! Falan should have listened to Toya when she warned her about him. Ms. Tina 😭😭😭 Nicole you coulda left that part out my girl. That was sad!
I really enjoyed this book these characters were a mess! Falen and Toya was some overnight hustlers. Tino was someone I didn't think I would like but he turned out to be real cool. The plot got so crazy I didn't know who to believe but loved the ending definitely recommend this book
I loved this book! I hated Janah and Crystal so much but Janah grew on me towards the end. Booby was a scum so was her sister. Toya was my girl she kept me laughing. Great read!
Whenever a book starts off with two crackheads scheming, you know the book is gonna be juicy & messy messy! And trust me this book did not disappoint! Looking forward to part 2!
Honestly everybody trifling. The story was kinda boring blah until the very end. Don’t particularly care for the main characters. Nobody put in the work to redeem themselves. Toya was the best and most real. There were some unexpected twists and turns.
Falen was a planner and Tino didn’t plan to fall in love!
Falen was raised by a pimping crackhead momma. After that experience, she deserved to live a good life filled with love but Crystal just couldn’t let her live happily. Crystal was psychotic and her resentment towards Falen was irrational and disgusting coming from a sibling. Booby aka Jaylen was a booby trap that Falen hadn’t seen coming. I felt sorry for him until he started bugging and gunning for everybody. Hater!!! Toya was that B that every woman needs in her corner. She was Falen’s ride or die to the bitter end. Tino was a straight up hoe for always stepping on Joe’s toes and expecting undying loyalty right after. He knew that he deserved what happened to him. I’m so happy for Jamie and Joe. Tino finally adulted and stepped into his manhood with Falen. Now, I just want Toya to find love and loyalty.
My first read by Ms. Jackson. I loved it. The unexpectedness of the story was refreshing. Hailing from Texas and a small town near Houston gave me nostalgia. 🤘🏾 I can’t lie, Falen and Tino got on my last nerves with the back and forth, but they were worth the aggravation. It was a whole lot of tomfoolery going on but it kept the story interesting. Booby and Crystal were so shady. Definitely not your typical hood fiction. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
I can't believe this is like the fourth time I'm reading this forever love story. No matter what Tino never forgot about that first interaction with the young beauty Falen. Her family betrayed her to the fullest, homeless and no one to love her back. Falen held onto her forever love and still grinded to get her own. Great story and you can never read it too many times.
A good book although try as I might I couldn’t stand Falon throughout the whole story. Her character was very shady and I couldn’t understand some of the decisions she made. Usually the main character is the easiest one to like but this was not the case. I’m not to sure if she deserved the ending that she got. Other than that, the storyline was great and kept me engaged from the first page.
This is definitely a page turner but some things just made me mad about the main characters but I guess when an author can provoke some emotion out of the reader they have definitely done there job... mission accomplished 😄
I probably won’t be reading the sequel to this book but if you like street urban books then this one is a winner
A friend put me on to Nicole's work recently and I decided to start from the beginning and I'm hooked already.Falen was dealt some pretty harsh cards in life and she also made a bad decision that came with catastrophic consequences. But she remained strong through it all and it all worked out in the long run.I can't wait to see where this story goes next!
I thought I left a view years ago when this first came out... This is just to let you know how much I enjoy reading this author's work over and over again... Her never gets old. Mz. Nicole Jackson, please continue the work of putting out just realistic stories...you'll have a true support... Thank you
It's so sad how some people hate you just for being born. I am glad that Crystal and Booby met their fate. Joe, was trifling too, I would never be down with him again. I'm glad that Tino did release Jaime, because he would never do right by her. I love this author, but I hate the recycled names, it is getting confusing.
I don't have enough words for what I felt for this book. It had so many twists and the chemistry between Falen and Tino was contagious. This is one everyone needs to read. Great job Nicole Jackson.
Another Nicole Jackson book that I truly enjoyed. Her stories keep you interested and wanting to know what happens next. This book was no different. I found myself cheering on some characters and hating some characters. I will be continuing to read books by this author.
I never seen a n***a hate so much n my life. And Crystal a** was just crazy. But to do to own sister like that...omg. I didn't like booby at all and he got what he deserved. I liked Fallon and Tino together
This was a good read. My first book by Nicole Jackson and I enjoyed it. I literally couldn't put it down lol. I've been hearing great things for a while and I've finally read what the hype is about. Great Job!!!
I think I’ve found another favorite author.. I’ve read a few books by her and the she gives interesting twists and it’s funny too. I love that it’s in Texas. Very good read!
This was my first read from thks author and it kept me hooked from beginning to end. I definitely didn't expect dome of the stuff that happened in this book. It was an amazing read
If you like spice and drama this the book for you. It’s so good that you almost feel sad when you finish cause you wish you could read it for the first time again to have that feeling. Highly recommend
I can't wait to see what part 2 is going to be about. I did hate when homegirl started messing with booby. She should have listened to her homegirl Toya. On to pt2.
This was drama filled. I love when an author writes stories from the city they live and their so spot on. I love visiting Houston and when she mentioned certain places that I've visited it makes the story spot on.
