My Alien Parents

Rate this book
Ten-year-old Rob thought he knew all there was to know about his parents, but suddenly things have changed. Why do Mom and Dad keep warning him not to ask too many questions? Could aliens from another world really have replaced his parents? And what’s happened to Snappy, the family dog? Soon Rob’s writing down all the latest weird developments in a notebook entitled REASONS WHY MY PARENTS ARE ALIENS FROM OUTER SPACE. Can he figure it out before it’s too late? It’s another eerily fun thriller from the inventive mind of R.L. Stine.

Short as a Twilight Zone episode and about as freaky. Great execution of a simple premise. Love me some Stine!

10-year old Rob wakes up and notices his parents and friends are completely different. Why are they saying weird things? Behaving differently? And most importantly, where is his dog? What is... they're all aliens?!

This book is a fun, short read that is perfect for middle graders. Especially for those middle grade readers who love books that scream "expect the unexpected". This book is short and light, but it's a great intro to reading! If you want your kid to read "horror" but not be scared, but also get a slight thrill then this book is perfect!

It's a great read! I think it was quite fun.

Three out of five stars.

Finally completing this hexology, this book has evaded my grasp for far too long. It’s accessible, yes, but not so much the original print—the one I wanted to complete my set. Finally getting it today, I have already finished it, and it’s probably the shortest of these if I had to bet, but not the worst. The concept is semi-fresh and I liked the ending, which only worked since the story was so self-contained. The book is decently entertaining and it was interesting to see a twist actually be hard to predict in these things. It could’ve been a thousand things, which helped the suspension with this one. It’s just a short and neat read, and I can’t really pick out much flaw within this one apart from its “no spectacle, so I can’t rate it very high.” Overall, 7.5/10. Quite decent, nuff said.

This is a book from my childhood that I decided to reread when I noticed the audiobook on Scribd. I vaguely recognized the book title and cover, but that was it.

Once I started listening, I realized that this was a book that I always remembered and loved the ending to but could never remember what book that awesome ending came from. I am ecstatic right now that this mystery has now been solved! 😂

This book is genuinely eerie and unsettling and the ending is still quite terrifying, even upon reading as an adult. A great concept and very well executed for a children’s story that is really scary but not inappropriately violent or gory or anything.

I am now considering rereading some old Goosebumps. Like Monster Blood and Say Cheese And Die! 😃

Title: My Alien Parents
Author: R.L. Stine
Genre: Children's, Horror
Overall Rating: 3 stars

This quick little read from the children's master of horror was quite a good one, although it's not a book from the Goosebumps series, it's very reminiscent of it. In this, Rob wakes up one morning and everything has changed, his parents are acting differently, his dog is gone and now the only explanation would be that his parents are aliens. But with RL Stine, nothing is ever really as it seems.

I love RL Stine's writing and he is definitely one of my favourite authors.

I dunno what month that was but I read this one inside the bookstore sometime this year. I read it for the simple reason that it was so thin. Well, it ended funny and the start was kinda creepy. That's all there is to it. Rob's a robot, after all. And he was unaware of it.

It was fun very short if you like r.l. Stine you will like this book. I will say its not a masterpiece but it was good. The ending i was able to see it coming in fact he has used the same twist multiple times even in the haunting hour were its the opposite but if you find it its cool to read and see a book that you didn’t know about by an author that you love even if it isn’t that long, or the best story but its fun.

No me la he visto venir.

Fun Read!

I really enjoyed this short story! It had all the best things: quick read, easy to get lost in, suspenseful and I was able to visually imagine everything as it unfolded. Plus, I didn't see the end coming. My only complaint is that the cover doesn't really match the story.

Cute story

I can imagine kids loving this! What a fun twist at the end! Hitchcock for juveniles! I downloaded it for free many years ago and happened to see it sitting in my kindle today, waiting to be read! Took less than 30 minutes!

I rated this book four stars because I didn’t like the ending. I liked listening to it. It was both scary and happy. The alien parents were a little bit wonkyYYYYY. I don’t like doing reviews when I’m tired Mum.

Have you ever wondered if your parents were aliens? Rob’s parents were certainly acting weird—so unlike them. What gives? But who was the real alien here? Loved that twist in the end! A good, quick read!

I really enjoyed it at first. But then the twist ruined it a little bit for me. This book felt like a short story for Goosebumps (probably was because this was released shortly after Triple Header 3 got canceled) but had to be made into a book because of the fallout with R.L Stine and Scholastic.

Delightful spin on Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers with a neat twist ending. Unfortunately Kim ("My Stepmother Is An Alien") Basinger fails to make an appearance!
