Christine Bristol is sick of waiting. For three years she’s done as everyone tells her, putting aside dreams of the handsome photographer who captured her girlish fancy, trying to forget the mother who abandoned her on the stage to Abilene. Now she doesn’t care who gets hurt in her desperate bid to follow her heart. Heading across the prairie in a cramped, horse-drawn wagon, Christine discovers that much of the bitterness she’s known comes from her own lack of faith. On her journey of discovery to San Francisco, Christine finds a love that reunites her with her real family; puts her in touch with her true self; and brings her back to the simple Kansas homestead.
Drawing upon her experiences in Jamesport, the largest Old Order Amish community west of the Mississippi, longtime Missourian Charlotte Hubbard (a.k.a. Naomi King) writes of simpler times and a faith-based lifestyle in her new Seasons of the Heart series. Like her heroine, Miriam Lantz, Charlotte considers it her personal mission to feed people—to share hearth and home. Faith and family, farming and food preservation are hallmarks of her lifestyle, and the foundation of her earlier Angels of Mercy series. She’s a deacon, a dedicated church musician and choir member, and when she’s not writing, she loves to try new recipes, crochet, and sew. Charlotte now lives in Minnesota with her husband and their border collie.
If I could give this zero stars I would. Totally inappropriate for a Christian book--quite a bit of swearing, and the bride is WAY too young. I know, back in the day, people used to get married at 13. But I don't want to read about it because it turns my stomach. I don't want to picture my teenage daughter in this book. Terrible.
This is not a Christian book, but filtered with satanic lies descised by coming like Angel of light. Magic herbs, spirit guides and voodoo are or compatible with Christianity. I loved the first book, and was looking forward to the next book. My spirit will not let me continue.
These books actually should be called fantasy and not Christian fiction. There’s not very much actual biblical truth in the stories. On the other hand, there is a tremendous amount of mysticism and Catholic dogma. Stories would be totally a delight otherwise. I hope this author knows the difference between Christian and mysticism and will correct her self in the future.
Journey to Love is another winner! Beautifully written with plenty of drama, humor, intrigue and incredibly developed characters to Love and Hate. We met Miss Christine Bristol in the first book of this series as a spoiled, smart mouth, "nothing is ever good enough for her" teenager. As she becomes a young woman, you still love to hate her. Then you get to watch the metamorphosis that happens when you start to look through a different lens. From both the man she is falling for, as well as the Savior she is starting to see really exists. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. Thank you Ms. Hubbard for such entertaining stories.
I loved the first book so much I immediately bought the Kindle version of the next book in the series.
Within the first few chapters I tried to return it. Amazon denied the return, with no reason for the rejection. My response for wanting to return it was questionable content, which for me is language and sexual situations. Nothing like that was in book-one, except one "damned savages". But as it was only once, I let it go.
I’m so disappointed in this book that proclaiming Christ, having such a good story, but includes such objectionable material. And of course I’m disappointed Amazon wouldn’t take it back for any reason I tried.
3.5 starts. This is a good follow up to book one which I adored. It is a book with a lot of character grown for Christine, but at the same time the love story is just plain weird at the beginning since she was so young when she met Tucker. It all worked out at the end though. Billy and Christine's mom is a piece of work!
So much going on, and so entertaining, I can’t believe all of the things that take place. You don’t have a chance to enjoy the moment before you get more exciting adventures. Never thought you could put so much excitement in one book. I so enjoyed this book, and I wanted more. Excellent Christian romance!!!
I love to read Charlotte Hubbard's books! She writes so well you can't put the book down until you finish. The story flows along with adventure and tears. Have a box of tissues at hand and enjoy as much as I have reading this series.
Held my interest .even though I read it last I hope the author continues writing about the whole family would like to know about each child and how there future ends up.....
More adventurous and challenging than book 1. True love means different things, some good , some not so good. I liked the determination of the young lady to seek and find true love of mother, and the man.
I was excited to read book 2 after book one was so amazing. It was fun following my old friends and making new one. However the story spent to much time on Christine's bad behavior. It went on waaaaay to long.
I am enjoying this series. I know I will read more from this author. The characters are strong and I love the growth in them as a family is so interesting . The way their faith grows as they meet new challenges keeps me reading late into the night.
I loved reading about Christine's journey into womanhood. She was able to achieve the desired of her heart and still become the woman she was meant to be.
This series of books you don't want to miss. They are so heart warming. The characters try to follow God's leading and walk in the way that He wants them to.
This second book in the series by Charlotte Hubbard is almost as wonderful as the first book.
I love the characters as well as the locations and the fast moving pace of the story. I have an extremely difficult time setting the book aside. One exciting chapter pulls me into the next and before I know it, I have read the entire book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys History and to anyone who enjoys strong characters with God as the root of their strength and inspiration. I'm excited to start the next book in this series. Thank you Charlotte Hubbard for this amazing series!!!
Journey of Love continues the story of Patchwork Family. I enjoyed this book, it did have a couple of twists that I didn't for see. Like the first book in this series it is very emotional. I love the way the scriptures of the Bible are woven into the story line without being preachy. I am sure I will read the rest of the series as it gives comfort to the trying times we are living.
To go from a strong-willed teenager into a refined young lady with a quest to unite her family once again. A lot of heart breaking facts and a lifetime of love are the results.
A continuation of Hubbard's first story in this series. Thus one just as good as the first one. Ms Hubbard continues to tell a great story that is so enjoyable.
