Angels would have trouble getting along with Micah Burnet, and Tempest Lavalle's halo is twisted plumb out of shape by the time she gets to the plantation where her two married sisters are living. Micah was the handsomest of the three outlaws who escorted her and her sisters from San Antonio to Louisiana but he also has the biggest ego. Add that to Tempie's fiery temper, and the two could burn down the whole western half of Mississippi. Micah isn't happy about Tempie coming to the plantation, but it's a big place and he can stay out of her way ... right? Wrong! He and Tempie are drawn together the minute he shares a deathbed confession with her. He knows that little apparition appearing over her head when she's being nice is darn sure not a halo but just a trick of the light, so why does fate keep throwing them together?
Hi! I'm twenty five years old and movie star gorgeous. The camera added thirty plus years and a few wrinkles. Can't trust those cameras or mirrors either. Along with bathroom scales they are notorious liars! Honestly, I am the mother of three fantastic grown children who've made me laugh and given me more story ideas than I could ever write. My husband, Charles, is my strongest supporter and my best friend. He's even willing to eat fast food and help with the laundry while I finish one more chapter! Life is good and I am blessed!
Reading has been a passion since I was five years old and figured out those were words on book pages. As soon as my chubby little fingers found they could put words on a Big Chief tablet with a fat pencil, I was on my way. Writing joined reading in my list of passions. I will read anything from the back of the Cheerio's box to Faulkner and love every bit of it. In addition to reading I enjoy cooking, my family and the ocean. I love the Florida beaches. Listening to the ocean waves puts my writing brain into high gear.
I love writing romance because it's about emotions and relationships. Human nature hasn't changed a bit since Eve coveted the fruit in the Garden of Eden. Settings change. Plots change. Names change. Times change. But love is love and men and women have been falling in and out of it forever. Romance is about emotions: love, hate, anger, laughter... all of it. If I can make you laugh until your sides ache or grab a tissue then I've touched your emotions and accomplished what every writer sets out to do.
I got serious about writing when my third child was born and had her days and nights mixed up. I had to stay up all night anyway and it was very quiet so I invested in a spiral back notebook and sharpened a few pencils. The story that emerged has never sold but it's brought in enough rejection slips to put the Redwood Forest on the endangered list. In 1997 Kensington bought two books for their Precious Gems line. Two years and six books later the line died with only four of those books seeing publication. But by then Avalon had bought a book and another, and another. Ten years later the list has grown to thirty nine. Last year Sourcebooks bought the Lucky Series which is in the bookstores now. They've also bought The Honky Tonk Series which will debut with I LOVE THIS BAR in June and will be followed by HELL, YEAH, MY GIVE A DAMN'S BUSTED, and HONKY TONK CHRISTMAS.
Folks ask me where I get my ideas. Three kids, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Note: I was a very young grandmother! Life is a zoo around here when they all come home. In one Sunday afternoon there's enough ideas to keep me writing for years and years. Seriously, ideas pop up at the craziest times. When one sinks its roots into my mind, I have no choice but to write the story. And while I'm writing the characters peek over my shoulder and make sure I'm telling it right and not exaggerating too much. Pesky little devils, they are!
I have a wonderful agent, Erin Niumata, who continues to work magic and sell my work. I'm very lucky to have her and my editors who continue to believe in me.
2.5 stars. I enjoyed the plot. This book varied from the first two so I was thankful for that. The characters were fun and enjoyable to read about. This is listed as a Christian Romance and it doesn't have much of a Christian theme at all. It is a clean romance, but by no means preachy or religious... just good people trying to live an honest life.
It was fun to read and the way the writer seemed to capture the moments and to tell the story with humor and charm. Loved Tempest and enjoyed the whole story.
I read all three books in this series. They were good stories with characters you cared about and rooted for. The historical aspects of the story were good but not overwhelming. They added a grit that the stories needed to balance out the softer parts of the storylines. Overall I enjoyed each of these books.
THis is the third book in Carolyn Brown's trilogy, starting with "Wine To Water" and then "Walkin on Clouds". I would recommend all three books as they're clean with plenty of adventure, strong characters and romance. No preachiness whatsoever. My only criticism for this book is there's a lot of "re-cap" of the other two books. So if you've read the others you'll be a bit antsy for the author to get back to the current story. But it's a helpful thing if you havent read the other two as it makes each book stand alone. All in all its a great series and I enjoyed all three books.
Finally we get to Tempest and Micah's story. This one takes place at the Mississippi plantation. There's not the excitement of Indians, robbers or Santa Anna's men chasing them but there are some very unexpected turns. It opens with Micah engaged to Sally and at her deathbed. She has a confession before she dies. It completely rocks his world and of all people for him to share it with, Tempest is the one. This puts them on a road of friendship and almost costs Tempest her life. Several other characters and couples are introduced, giving the ending a feel of a loving village to support and depend on. Nice series.
I like an adventurous book, and this story was just exactly like that from beginning to end. This was a good way to spend a sleepless night. Mrs. Brown, I can honestly recommend your books to anyone who inquires about books that Interest me. You're good at telling a story. Thanx much.
This third story of the Angels & Outlaws series is a very fine culmination to this history and romance. This story starts with a confession of murder and ties up loose ends for those characters and readers of the series, however each book is a stand alone read. I enjoyed each one and always find Mrs Browns books to be delightful.
Absolutely wonderful story there is laughter and romance bringing everything together. The brothers had a shock when they first met the sister's . The women had been taught to shoot better than most men and to be able to ride a horse they wear trousers and don't sit side saddle. The brothers have taken on three sassy ladies. Fabulous
Did you see right at the end of the book there were 3 marriages? Tempie and Micah were a long time coming. Constance was really a vindictive woman pursuing her man, poisoning 1 rival and shooting a second. But I loved the ghost thing Tempie pulled on Constance to rescue Micah.
It is a life style that is in the past. MS Brown has an awesome way of bringing it to life so we can all relive those days. I love a great story that is a look at how we came to be called Angels and Outlaws. D.Page
I love her books. Entertaining with a little bit of everything. She manages to get romance and excitement woven into all of her stories and leaves you with a happy ending and a smile on your face.
This is a story with wonderful loving characters. The author is always spot on.Wether it's written in this year or several centuries earlier in her imagination.Such a talented imagination.History & research.
Loved all three of these stories! What fun reading! Couldn't believe how evil Constance was, but it made a perfect story! I have really enjoyed all of the books by this author, but this series was extra special!
I love the characters Carolyn creates. They are woven together into a caring family group. All of this is accomplished without the use of offensive language or "in depth" romantic interludes.
What a wonderful book series. The humor is so enjoyable.
Wonderful book. It ends a fun series. The females sisters in the books have so much spirit. I loved the story. There are interesting twists and turns. The humor is wonderful.
Always enjoy Mrs Brown's books. These characters are fun and very challenging. Tempest is bold, fiesty, and pretty. Micah was TDH and a cowboy. This story had adventure and romance. Would recommend this book to a friend.
This might be my favorite Carolyn Brown series, but by all means, start with Book 1. I missed #2 and have to read them out of order. You will love the “angels” as they show themselves to be strong, capable women.
I have just finished the first three of these wonderfully exciting and adventurous books. I found the characters intriguing and involved, also great story and history of family. Thank you for writing these Books.
Another page turner! I live reading het series to find out what happens to each character. I'm surprised none if these have been made into movies! I'd for one would love to watch!
