Roseanna Cahill didn't believe in happily-ever-after anymore. Not after a marriage that should never have started and which ended after four years. Country hearts like hers didn t mix with city hearts like that of Colin Vance Fields III, better known as Trey. She thought she'd seen the last of Trey but then his sister showed up at her door begging for her help. Trey had been kidnapped and they needed Roseanna's tracking skills to rescue him. Trey had been left chained to a tree in the Ouachita Mountains of eastern Oklahoma, and had doubts that Roseanna would even consider his sister's plea for help. Not after the way he had treated her. So he was surprised when she slung back the flap and told him to get ready for a long hike. Neither of them was prepared for the emotions set loose during the trek across the mountain range. Roseanna sure wasn't ready for what happened after they got home. Trey was determined that he wouldn't lose her again. She was determined never to believe him again. Funny how fate steps in just when two people think they've got their lives all figured out.
Hi! I'm twenty five years old and movie star gorgeous. The camera added thirty plus years and a few wrinkles. Can't trust those cameras or mirrors either. Along with bathroom scales they are notorious liars! Honestly, I am the mother of three fantastic grown children who've made me laugh and given me more story ideas than I could ever write. My husband, Charles, is my strongest supporter and my best friend. He's even willing to eat fast food and help with the laundry while I finish one more chapter! Life is good and I am blessed!
Reading has been a passion since I was five years old and figured out those were words on book pages. As soon as my chubby little fingers found they could put words on a Big Chief tablet with a fat pencil, I was on my way. Writing joined reading in my list of passions. I will read anything from the back of the Cheerio's box to Faulkner and love every bit of it. In addition to reading I enjoy cooking, my family and the ocean. I love the Florida beaches. Listening to the ocean waves puts my writing brain into high gear.
I love writing romance because it's about emotions and relationships. Human nature hasn't changed a bit since Eve coveted the fruit in the Garden of Eden. Settings change. Plots change. Names change. Times change. But love is love and men and women have been falling in and out of it forever. Romance is about emotions: love, hate, anger, laughter... all of it. If I can make you laugh until your sides ache or grab a tissue then I've touched your emotions and accomplished what every writer sets out to do.
I got serious about writing when my third child was born and had her days and nights mixed up. I had to stay up all night anyway and it was very quiet so I invested in a spiral back notebook and sharpened a few pencils. The story that emerged has never sold but it's brought in enough rejection slips to put the Redwood Forest on the endangered list. In 1997 Kensington bought two books for their Precious Gems line. Two years and six books later the line died with only four of those books seeing publication. But by then Avalon had bought a book and another, and another. Ten years later the list has grown to thirty nine. Last year Sourcebooks bought the Lucky Series which is in the bookstores now. They've also bought The Honky Tonk Series which will debut with I LOVE THIS BAR in June and will be followed by HELL, YEAH, MY GIVE A DAMN'S BUSTED, and HONKY TONK CHRISTMAS.
Folks ask me where I get my ideas. Three kids, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Note: I was a very young grandmother! Life is a zoo around here when they all come home. In one Sunday afternoon there's enough ideas to keep me writing for years and years. Seriously, ideas pop up at the craziest times. When one sinks its roots into my mind, I have no choice but to write the story. And while I'm writing the characters peek over my shoulder and make sure I'm telling it right and not exaggerating too much. Pesky little devils, they are!
I have a wonderful agent, Erin Niumata, who continues to work magic and sell my work. I'm very lucky to have her and my editors who continue to believe in me.
Cute story about a divorced couple who get back together due to the hero being kidnapped. She rescued him for a change and I really didn't care for him. He divorced her to marry another woman. He never married her though and it had only been six weeks since they split up. Celibacy unclear but he was a jerk. Came from wealth and she was the redneck. I never felt their love really. It just felt disconnected and his change of heart wasn't too believable to me but it was free on KU. First time read for this author I think but I may try her again someday. She needs an Editor for sure. A good one.
All the books in this group are good. That said, they drove me crazy. So much is repeated that doesn't need to be. The broken road is a song that they talk about. A lot. In one book it is the wedding song, and in the next book that starts right after the wedding, the guy asks the girl if ahe ever heard the song. Come on, she was just at the same wedding as him and heard the same music. The characters are woven together seamlessly and you will enjoy them.
Yikes. This is my first Carolyn Brown and the writing seemed so amateur and disjointed. DNF at 32%. I very seldom can’t finish a book, but this was one. She switched point of view every few paragraphs with no warning and no signals that it was a new POV. Then the storyline was totally unbelievable because she did not explain at all how these totally different people from different worlds decided to be together or why. She just stated plainly, and then they eloped and then they got divorced. But the worst part was the juvenile writing itself. Doesn’t give me much encouragement to to read another on Brown novel.
Book three is the second chance story. I loved the way Ms. Brown tells the beginning of Roseanna and Trey's story and ends it with "Four weeks later they married. Four years later they divorced." I enjoyed their paths of self-discovery, what passion really was, and owning up to the need to compromise to make each other happy. This one has some good moments to ponder about what truly makes one happy in life. I enjoyed the visit with Granny Roxie and her family from Book one.
Roseanne Cahill is asked to help find and rescue her ex-husband Trey who has been kidnapped. Chained to a tree in the mountains he has been left to die. There are a lot of bad memories from their four year marriage. When he has been rescued and he goes back to the city she figured to never see him again. A surprise awaits her when she back home to her family in the country. Her grandmother has pulled a fast one and left on a cruise so Rose has to deal with it. Another great story by an amazing author.
Communication is the key and first time around they thought lust was enough to carry them through. When Trey is kidnapped and his sister hires his ex-wife to track him down and rescue him, the sparks fly. He knows he needs to find out what makes Rosy tick, which he failed to do first time around.
Can they become friends and get to know each other this time around? They find that true love shines brightly and it just might be worth it to take a second chance.
Married, divorced and still there was passion. An undeniable pull that they could not control.
Stubborn and hardheaded. Through his kidnapping. She is a tracker and was sent to rescue her ex husband.. She did it for his family convinced she hated him.
Sometimes we learn life's lessons the second time around! Trey and Roseanna were both to blame for the failure of their first marriage. But when they meet up again, they have changed. But the question is, is that enough? Carolyn Brown has once again written a story than touches the heartstrings of the reader.
Rosy Cahill is as country as country can be and is not a bit ashamed of it. Tyler her citified ex-husband is not proud of the fact that she doesn't advance his corporate image. When their marriage falls apart no one can save him but Rosy. She wants nothing more to do with him. He realizes the true value of her.
Trey has been kidnapped and Greta has asked Rosy to rescue him. Rosy sets off to find him and discovers who is behind the kidnapping. After four days of hiking and bidding they arrive safely st a motel where They'd father will pick him up that night. When Rosy arrives back at Cahill Lodge to find Trey there she is angry.
Great storyline and a good romance! Loved this one, just like all the others I have read from this author! I was a tiny bit disappointed that there wasn't just a little more real tracking, coming from a family of search and rescue men, my sisters and I learned a young age! Great writing and enjoyed it including the double wide trailer!
What fun reading this book. It is full of knowledge about ranch life and a barrel of laughs. Please read books 1 and 2 first, as it will double your fun I'm downloading book number 4 right now. Can't wait.
Rosy and Trey overcome by lust fall into an ill fated marriage without understanding each others background, they split and because of a weird conspiracy and family maneuvering they reunite.
I did wonder if happily ever after were going to exist especially with their sisters Josie and Greta. Their hot tempers would stop a stampede. But Trey and Rosie got their in the end. And I'm so happy. Thankyou Carolyn hugs xx
This was very enjoyable reading about love how rosy and trey could.work on their. Different ways and work. On.the difference ways of lives.I knew.most of these towns and way people.acts.very good and i.love.the story thank you
Wow, another amazing book by Carolyn Brown! Trey and Rosy's romance was fast to start and fast to die, but who knew they were still so in love with each other. Love and marriage takes work to make it right!!!!
Read the book and find out what a fairy ring is. I've never seen before but I hope I do one day. To Dream is the next book to read got to find out how it true out for Kyle & Greta.
Another fabulous story I highly recommend this book. The characters are realistic. The cat fights are good and the family feuds are good. The romance is on a low burner but stand back when the h eats turned up. Fabulous
Roseanna and Trey met and married after a rush of a courtship, two very different ways of understanding and unfortunately were divorced after a few years due to those differences. There "broken road" was long and tough, but worth the journey.
Worlds apart. Four miserable years for Rosy. She goes from one control freak to another. There are more funny moments as they head to their HEA. Jodie puts Trey to the test. Rosy doesn’t want another broken heart. Greta is a piece of work.
This was a great story with a twist when the ex husband gets kidnapped by the family friends. It puts the exs in close confines. They learn to love and trust each other. But the best was to believe in love.
