From the author of the Evergreen Lane series ...Meg Reilly is a pregnant widow who ducks into a confessional to spill her deepest, darkest secrets. Trouble is, the man on the other side of the booth isn't a priest. Craig Stovall is the owner of a local construction business--he's just there to repair the confessional. But when Meg starts talking, he's too surprised and tongue-tied to stop her until he hears too much. When they meet later, Craig recognizes Meg from the glimpse he caught as she left--but she has no idea he's her "priest." Meg doesn't think she wants another big, strong man in her life. Her relationship with her husband was rocky at best, and she wants what's right for the baby on the way, even if this means being alone. Still, the more time Meg and Craig spend together, the closer they become...and the closer Craig comes to slipping up and revealing that he's the one who heard Meg's confession.
A sweet, enjoyable read. I liked the storyline. I thought the "accidental confession"--or more so an accidental overhearing of a confession in this case--was unique. And "watching" Craig's transition as he fell in love with Meg--and her baby--was heartwarming. From the moment Meg goes into labor, til the end, I felt like was one huge contented sigh for me. I loved seeing the love grow slowly between Craig and Meg (I won't tell you how long it took me to realize their names rhymed) ;-) throughout the book...but the instant change in Craig during/after her delivery was so realistic to me...because that's what babies do--they soften even the hardest hearts! And can I just say a big YAY for an epilogue!! :)
I loved this story!!! Meg and Craig are the most adorable couple I've seen in a long time. I suppose if a woman deserves a rescue, it's Meg. One confession, and she rid herself of the weight on her shoulders, and found love.
This book is what a romance book should be. It's tender and takes its time. Perfect. The characters don't jump into bed as soon as they meet. A very pleasant change.
Very quick read and wonderful story. Shows that men can be caring and responsible even when a child isn't his own. Would definitely read this author again
It was such a great love story! Each character had their own back story, some not so detailed but I loved the main characters & how their stories connect. I loved the epilogue, I always want to know what happens to the characters whether or they get a happy ending. I was so pleased that Craig & Meg got theirs, I wanted to know how their story continued. Overall great story line and grew ending for the characters. I am 30 weeks pregnant so I could relate to her love for her child and the unconstitutional love she helps Craig find that he didn't even know he wanted or herself for that matter
While the confession seemed a little childish to me, the overall romance and comedy in this book was intriguing. I could practically feel them falling in love throughout the story, and while it took the characters a while to get there, I knew it was bound to happen. The way they are there for each other and the youthful nature they bring out in each other is very rom-com-esque. If you enjoy Romantic Comedy movies/books, you will enjoy this one.
This love story is all about second chances and how we can all use a friend. Even at a very low point in her life, the pregnant widow and a very eligible man fell in love. It took some time to get there, but these things had to be worked through or the ending wouldn't that be happy.
Short but sweet; took just a few hours to read. It was a perfect airport companion.
I have been turned on to short romance novels by Kindle Unlimited. I love the idea of being able to have books for free or $.99. Now that I've read several of them, they're starting to sound alike. I still think it's worth it.
Confusion of meg and Craig Made for various delightful story!
hormones really get in the way of knowing what one really feels. Or stubbornness gets in the way. I was afraid Meg would really mess up. Glad all worked out and love won.
I picked out this book with the purpose of reading a book that I did not have too. It was refreshing to read and to be a witness to Meg and Craig's journey of love. I did not want the book to end. Thank you Ms Donovan for doing an amazing job!
This book is to sweet! I just loved it and the characters. To see them grow and change was so special! I look forward to reading more from this new to me author.

Nice love story. I like the idea of the confessional. Predictable and easy going.
A troubled Meg seeks the solace of a confessional in an empty church, never realizing there's a man doing construction on the other side of the wall. Craig is by no means ready or wise enough to comfort Meg, but he's struck by her pain just the same. A few days later, when they run into each other again, Meg has no idea that Craig was the "priest" who counseled her. Thus begins a sweet touching friendship between two people who don't realize how much they need each other. What makes this book so good is Meg's growth from scared rabbit to a woman who discovers that asking for help requires more strength than trying to go it alone. A lovely romance!
This was a really fun story. The plot was certainly different! Nothing I'd come across before. But a nice change. It was realistic, especially the pregnancy and delivery parts of the story. The guy was an absolute hero and I thought that Meg was very "real" as well. Both characters had some difficult histories but it wasn't overly dramatized, which I appreciated. The story flowed well, although I prefer a bit more dialogue and a little less description. All in all, it was a good read and I recommend it. I didn't notice any grammar or spelling mistakes either, which is always a plus for me. I plan to read more from this author.
Be sure to check the confessional booth for handsome contractors before spilling your feeling of guilt over your dead husband. It will save you from meeting and falling for the exactly the wrong kind of guy. Or not. Maybe that's where all the good ones are hanging out.
Donovan puts a new twist on a classic love story. She produced nicely layered characters and a story line that had me routing for a happily-ver-after ending. Highly recommended.
I occasionally enjoy a book that is not exactly a literary masterpiece. This book fit the genre but it was so much better than most I've read. It was a page turner , likeable characters , sentimental but not sappy. The storyline was developed well with enough suspense to hold interest but without reckless activity by the protagonists, a real turnoff for me in many books of this type. I will look for other books by Ms Donovan.
Boy accidentally meets girl. Boy accidentally meets girl again. Girl starts to have feelings for boy but fights them. Boy has feelings for girl but fights them. A lot of cliches in the book. But they all fit together very nicely. And like they say, it's all good.
Meg needs to talk to someone, but that someone needs to hold her secrets. She goes to a church to confess. Unfortunately the man in the confessional is not the priest, it's the construction owner who is making repairs.
This is a good story easy to read in an afternoon. The characters were developing as the story took shape. It is always good to get to know the people and how they can figure out their problems and come up with mature answers.
This was an easy and enjoyable book to read. Loved the characters too. It was a nice little break from the type of book I usually read. Would most likely read more by this author.
