All the Way from Texas

Rate this book
Molly Baker, a first-rate reporter, and Carson Rhodes, an excellent photojournalist are two of the most talented students in their graduating class. So, who else would their professor pick but these two young, adventurous graduate students to go on a journalism excursion?

But newly engaged Molly has reservations about the trip. Of all the people in the class, Carson, with his movie star good looks and ego the size of Texas, is not her first choice to spend two weeks alone with.

On they way up through America's heartland to Niagara Falls and back to Texas they travel on a journey that becomes more enjoyable with each passing mile. They learn to work together as a team--complementing each other's natural skills and creativity. Somewhere along the way, amidst beautiful scenery and quiet country roads, they learn to listen to their hearts, to trust each other and fall in love.

Hi! I'm twenty five years old and movie star gorgeous. The camera added thirty plus years and a few wrinkles. Can't trust those cameras or mirrors either. Along with bathroom scales they are notorious liars! Honestly, I am the mother of three fantastic grown children who've made me laugh and given me more story ideas than I could ever write. My husband, Charles, is my strongest supporter and my best friend. He's even willing to eat fast food and help with the laundry while I finish one more chapter! Life is good and I am blessed!

Reading has been a passion since I was five years old and figured out those were words on book pages. As soon as my chubby little fingers found they could put words on a Big Chief tablet with a fat pencil, I was on my way. Writing joined reading in my list of passions. I will read anything from the back of the Cheerio's box to Faulkner and love every bit of it. In addition to reading I enjoy cooking, my family and the ocean. I love the Florida beaches. Listening to the ocean waves puts my writing brain into high gear.

I love writing romance because it's about emotions and relationships. Human nature hasn't changed a bit since Eve coveted the fruit in the Garden of Eden. Settings change. Plots change. Names change. Times change. But love is love and men and women have been falling in and out of it forever. Romance is about emotions: love, hate, anger, laughter... all of it. If I can make you laugh until your sides ache or grab a tissue then I've touched your emotions and accomplished what every writer sets out to do.

I got serious about writing when my third child was born and had her days and nights mixed up. I had to stay up all night anyway and it was very quiet so I invested in a spiral back notebook and sharpened a few pencils. The story that emerged has never sold but it's brought in enough rejection slips to put the Redwood Forest on the endangered list. In 1997 Kensington bought two books for their Precious Gems line. Two years and six books later the line died with only four of those books seeing publication. But by then Avalon had bought a book and another, and another. Ten years later the list has grown to thirty nine. Last year Sourcebooks bought the Lucky Series which is in the bookstores now. They've also bought The Honky Tonk Series which will debut with I LOVE THIS BAR in June and will be followed by HELL, YEAH, MY GIVE A DAMN'S BUSTED, and HONKY TONK CHRISTMAS.

Folks ask me where I get my ideas. Three kids, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren. Note: I was a very young grandmother! Life is a zoo around here when they all come home. In one Sunday afternoon there's enough ideas to keep me writing for years and years. Seriously, ideas pop up at the craziest times. When one sinks its roots into my mind, I have no choice but to write the story. And while I'm writing the characters peek over my shoulder and make sure I'm telling it right and not exaggerating too much. Pesky little devils, they are!

I have a wonderful agent, Erin Niumata, who continues to work magic and sell my work. I'm very lucky to have her and my editors who continue to believe in me.

Happy reading!

This book is one cliche after another. In between there is hack writing and one-dimensional characters. It is marketed as a wholesome romance, an Avalon romance. It's a great reminder not to judge a book by its cover. I thought I was going to get a fun, fluffy road trip story. It was all fluff, but no fun. The road trip stuff was as generic as humanly possible.

Ok romance. The best part--no lurid sex.

For some reason I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. But, I loved it! Molly is engaged to a controlling man who thinks 'his woman' should do whatever he says. Molly has been given an assignment in her journalism class. She will be with Carson, on the road, for two weeks. Their assignment is to produce a travel brochure from their travels. They will be going from Texas to Niagara Falls and back to Texas. Molly's fiancee, Darren, told her if she goes they are no llonger engaged and he is done. She does what she has to do. She gives him back his ring.

Although Molly and Carson started the trip not on the best of terms they did stay very professional throughout the trip. They enjoyed all the stops on their journey and even become friends. As time went on though something else happened. They fell in love. It was wonderful to follow Molly and Carson their road to a happily ever after. Another great story by Carolyn Brown. She never disappoints.

All the Way from Texas is very predictable, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The characters are full of stereotypes and some of the things said are just plain weird. It’s told in close third person point of view, but who the narrator is focused on changes, sometimes from paragraph to paragraph. At first, this was kind of disorienting but once I got used to it, I discovered it actually worked pretty well. This book reads fast and is a decent mind vacation.

Made for each other

I’m happy their professor saw the potential when he sent them on assignment. Molly finds out that fiancé Darrin wanted her barefoot and pregnant, not gallivanting about the countryside with a gorgeous photographer. What an adventure the whole thing was. Niagara Falls really impressed her as you can tell, but the greatest thing was discovering love for each other. Great love and travel story.

Oh, Carolyn, you have done it again

You got me from the Oklahoma border and continued through Niagara Falls.
You see, I have had the same reaction to the Falls as Molly did and that has happened to me each time I have been there since I was a toddler. Yes, I grew up near there and was able to visit often. The magic is always there.
Thank you for the memories.

All the Way from Texas

Carson and Molly are students in an advanced journalism class when the professor send them out together to complete a two week project. Carson is the photographer and Molly is tasked with writing the accompanying description for each picture. This leads to full time positions for both of them.

A true test

Molly and Carson are given a final test in their college journalism class that sends them on a trip through a portion of the United States. Along the way they discover many beautiful and interesting sights. They also discover friendship, compatibility and love. Their story is a great read!

What a beautiful story!

I put off reading this book for a couple of months because it was the last Kindle unlimited by this author. It was awesome just like all of her other books! I loved the camping and stopping for pictures as well as knowing Carson loved her before they even left! Great storyline!

They wrote & documented their own story

Carson and Molly didn't know the fairy ring circled just for them long before they saw it together. They were a team, working together like a fine oiled machine fueled by fairy dust.
I love Mrs. Brown's writing, I can just sit and by end of chapter one, I feel like I'm right there in the story. Thank you!

Wonderful Storylines

I adored the characters in the story, and was intrigued by their adventures. It earned a 5 star rating because of the spirit of each person and the relationship bonds they formed. I was anxious to turn the page and see what happened next.

As usual, Ms. Brown

As usual, Ms. Brown, you did a bang-up job on this book. When I get bogged down in other books, I know I can pick up one of your books and wade right out! It's almost like a miracle! Thank you for being such a good writer.

Remarkable!

Ahh. Another truly refreshing and beautiful novel? Niagara falls is in my own backyard and never has it been described beautifully. All the landmarks in every state is artfully done as were the characters.

Short and sweet!

Just delightful. This must be one of her, (Carolyn's), first as her writing style is not quite as sassy and descriptive as it is in some of the most recent ones, but it certainly is a sweet little book about young love.

Boring

Usually love Carolyn’s books, but this one I struggled to get through. The love story didn’t have me blushing or excited for them. Only thing I looked forward to was finishing so I could read something else.

All the way

This book is one of CB's better books. I enjoyed the adventure here. It's hard to say why I am so taken with this author. She's an easy smooth story creator. I think I'll read another one.

Nice read

This is a pretty fast, but enjoyable read. The female characters have the quick, snappy personalities that I love in Carolyn Brown stories. It's a nice journey to love with bad situations dealt with and not drawn out.

All the way

What a beautifully written story, with view along the way. Carson was a dead duck from Texas on. Being thought of as newlyweds when they were only professionals adds to the torment of the heart.

All The Way From Texas

It was a delightful story about 2 people who had to work and travel together taking photos and writing about the travels to get their graduate. Then it was so well done they both got jobs. But best of all they found love.
