Michelle Hazen is a nomad with a writing problem.

Years ago, she and her husband ducked out of the 9 to 5 world and moved into a life as digital nomads. She found her voice with the support of the online fanfiction community, and once she started typing, she never looked back.

As a result, she's written most of her books in odd places, including a bus in Thailand, an off-the-grid cabin in the Sawtooth Mountains, a golf cart in a sandstorm, a rental car during a heat wave in the Mohave Desert, a century-old Creole cottage in New Orleans, and a beach in Honduras. These days, she's writing all the romance and friendship scenes her heart can hold, while working as a freelance editor and writing coach with Sanctuary Editorial.

She's currently addicted to Shadow & Bone, rock climbing, and Tillamook cheese.

Michelle is the award-winning author of Breathe the Sky, Unbreak Me, So You Think You're a Match, and the Sex, Love, and Rock and Roll series. Find her at http://michellehazenbooks.com/ on Facebook or Instagram at @MichelleHazenAuthor, or follow her on Twitter @michellehazen.

Actually really good for what was basically fan fic. Published under Kindle Worlds. Characters were spot on and plots better than disappointing TV lines.

AND SHE'S DONE IT AGAIN.

One book? Jaw-dropping. Two? HALLELUJIAH. And this book. THIS. BOOK. Okay, let's see if I can think straight for a moment, attempting to refrain from mad gushing just to form a coherent thought.

Nope, not possible.

OH MY GOODNESS, Hazen! Never, NEVER did I expect your alternate Season 4 to take us HERE! And I love every single second of it! I don't know how it's possible that your writing just gets better with every word, but it does. The emotional range of the characters you're commanding is purely breathtaking. They are so real I find myself mirroring all their expressions, their smiles, their smirks, even their tears. I feel for this cast to a level that constantly takes me by surprise, but shouldn't, considering that I am in constant awe of the wonders you wield with a pen (or a laptop).

And the plot! Goodness gracious, woman. How did you ever come up with a story this intense, suspenseful, and completely fresh? It's magnificent, and KILLING ME AND I HAVE TO GO READ BOOK THREE NOW BECAUSE WOW, talk about addicting.

Um, you're incredible. Enough said, and it's still not enough.

Michelle Hazen was just getting warmed up in Book One. She set the stage, she laid the groundwork for some changes from TVD canon, and she introduced some new characters. In Book Two, all her hard work pays off (mostly for the reader) because she gets to play with her creations.

While keeping up a gruelingly intense plot-pace that's identical to TVD, Hazen also allows the characters quiet times for emotions. Rather than merely reacting (or acting erratically or out-of-character) to the series of bombshells that are constantly blowing up (because this IS a convincingly written portrayal of Mystic Falls), she lets the characters think and consider and make choices. They can cry and feel badly and be playful.

Hazen's dialogue is dead-on, and I love nothing more than listening to these people speak to each other because it sounds JUST LIKE THEM and it's nice to know that in some universe, in this version of events, they're allowed to organically grow and change and learn from their mistakes.

She manages to stay in-character while doing something completely different than the show. I can see it, all of it, in its painful (and hilarious and sexy and sweet and brutal) clarity.

Love Thy Enemy, the second part to Michelle Hazen's Desperate Love trilogy, gives the reader one more reason to be grateful that this talented author has chosen TVD as her choice of topic.

Once again the Vampire Diaries' characters jump off the page as Hazen writes her version of season four. All the main characters that we know and love are there, just ten times funnier, sexier and willing to do what it takes to protect those they love. Without giving anything away, part two of this amazing trilogy gives us a surprise victim and unlikely hero, which just turns up the goodness of this story. Be prepared to take on some emotional turmoil and delight in the beginnings of a brand new romance.

Enjoy Hazen's TVD stories while you can because it won't be long before she's sitting atop the NY Times best seller's list, delighting us with great stories, like Becoming Katelyn, published on Kindle earlier this year.

I love Michelle Hazen's alternate take on Season 4. She writes well, has a very good grasp of the characters, and I have never been disappointed in any of her books. She maintains an exciting pace, carefully balancing plot and character development, and I enjoy the mix of action, humor, drama, and romance. She allows her characters so much emotional expression, and it feels so natural, never forced. I can totally lose myself in these books.

Once again fueling my TED obsession

I enjoyed the first book more, but this one did not disappoint. It was a little less steamy, but I do love the direction she's taking the characters in. I can't stop myself from moving on to book 3! They have been such quick reads, its worth finding out what happens next.

I always get to the end of this and even though I know there's still another book to complete the series I can stop here and walk away happy. My favourite part of this one is still, and likely will always be, when sobbing mess Caroline hugs Damon. It really shows how far they've come.
