Haven #3

The Edge of Everything

Rate this book
The third book in a series of five.

On the surface, Lainey Winslow has everything she could ever want. The love of her daughter’s father, a happy two year old, and a brand-new rental house right on the beach.

But things aren’t always as they appear. Deep down, Lainey worries that what she has isn’t what she needs. While everyone in her life is moving forward, exploring new options and still discovering themselves, Lainey is left feeling like she’s running in place, waiting for fate to intervene.

When it does, is it what she’s expecting?

‘The Edge of Everything’ is the third book in a series. It picks up more than a year after ‘The Heart of a Girl’ left off.

Mission Statement:

I might never become your favorite author, and I don’t always believe in happy endings.
I don’t know how to play the game, and I don’t want to learn.
But I promise this:
Every story I write will have pieces of my soul embedded in the pages.
Every character I breathe life into will exist forever in my heart.
And I will love my art with an aching intensity that will never fade or cease.
I’m a work in progress, but aren’t we all?

The Haven Series just keeps getting better and better.
I happened to stumble upon the first book in this series, The Consequences of Forever, and enjoyed it. Book two, The Heart of a Girl, was even better, and now this third book – WOW!
Life has gotten a little easier for Lainey in some regards, but a lot more difficult in others. There are new challenges, and new choices to be made. Tough, life changing choices, I might add. Choices that really do leave her standing on The Edge of Everything. Her struggle to hold it all together is very real and well portrayed, in my opinion. So real, in fact, that it rushed me back to a time and place when I was feeling the very same things. For that reason, this book became a little more than a story for me. I connected with the characters, and felt their pain. They became even more real to me.
Kaitlyn Oruska is a beautifully talented writer that knows a really good book (series) can’t be all rainbows and butterflies. She skillfully set up a bomb to drop in book one and we are still dealing with the aftermath.
The Edge of Everything was a real page turner that twisted my emotions. Did I love or hate the new character? BOTH! Do I agree or disagree with Lainey’s choice in the end? BOTH. It’s just to hard to decide.
But, all in all, I am still team Adam.

I was lucky enough to Beta read for this book. What can I say. I love the way the story flows. I love Lainey. I connect with her very deeply. Here is a girl who has had things thrown at her, mistakes made and yet she keeps going on. She does not fall into the trap of what other teen moms might have such as partying or drugs. No instead she puts her daughter first even when this may cause herself pain. Lainey is very lonely. Her boyfriend Adam is always at work and things that happened in book 2 have put their relationship on thin ice.
Lainey meets new next door neighbor Declan and he is interested in the same things Lainey is such as writing. The 2 develop a close relationship but Lainey has to decide stay in the relationship with Adam her daughters father or should she let go and move on?

I love that Lainey is always true to Lainey. She is like an old soul.
I love Lainey. Please read the first 2 books first..you really need the back story in order to understand this book. I loved this series and I love what Kaitlyn has done with her characters.

I was a beta reader and had the chance to read parts of the book twice! The book takes off a year after the heart of a girl; Lainey and her family are living in their own house together with Hannah.

Hannah is more present in this book and she has some relationship problems which I could relate to :/ I was happy that Nolan was often mentioned in this book. Adam had been spending a lot of time at work and Lainey felt lonely at times...until the new character came into her life. He is mysterious/different and understands Lainey's situation! Lainey faced a lot of things in the previous books and in this one, she had the time to think and see what's the best for her family, even though she might doesn't feel happy with certain things. There were times were I really connected with what every character was feeling; it is a very emotional book :)

I think that at the end of the book, Lainey made a mature and a self-less decision. A big well done to Kaitlyn for writing another amazing book. All your hard work paid off! Thanks for everything! Really looking forward to see how the story is going to continue :D Kaitlyn OruskaThe Edge of Everything

This was an okay read, but again, it wasn't as good as book one.

Lainey was an alright character, but i didn't like her quite as much as i did before. I still didn't like Adam.

I thought the reason i didn't like book two as much as the first one was because i read it straight after, but now i've read this one after having a break, i don't think it was. They seem to be getting less enjoyable with each one, which is a shame.

Ughhhhhh. A cliffy.

Definitely read the first two books before this one.

I didn't agree with the choices Lainey made in this book, but I sort of understood why she made them.

I still want Adam to get it together and make it work, even if I am still mad at him. ;-)

Awesome read, but it ends on a cliffhanger.
This book doesn't disappoint. In this third book we see Adam and Lainey together again trying to make it work after Adam's cheating, Nolan's death and Lainey's unresolved feelings.

Adam and Lainey have been together now 3 years, they are more mature, but they still face the difficulties that any young couple would face. They started their lives way too young and they are trying to make it work, but can they? should they? This book is beautifully written and it tells a heartfelt story. It does end on a cliffhanger and it does raise the question of will Adam and Lainey stay together?

Well, I guess you have to read the story and have your own opinions. Beautiful story.

I already know this will be good, but here's my issue. Why in the world is it so hard to find a single copy of this series. I can't find anywhere to read the other books in the series and it's driving me insane. I've become attached to the characters and I need to know what happens next. I have never been unable to find a book somewhere. I don't get it. If anyone knows a way I can buy this series please let me know, I need them.

I feel like this book was a emotional rollercoaster of feels and would consider reading over and over.

I chose this rating because it was filled with suspense and heart-wrenching emotion that could make anybody to fall for the characters and what there going through if it's happening in your on life's from our mixed emotions about to a miserable lainey who we all hope can have a happily ever after because what would we do without them.

I am loving this series! I'm so torn when it comes to Adam. I almost wish that Lainey would move on. I am loving Declan! I hope to read more about him as well!!
