They are four rugged, alpha members of a Delta Force team, all of them Doms, who have reached a point in their lives where they want to find the right sub to settle down with—women who can deal with the uncertainty of their lives and can be strong during long absences. But that's easier said than done, until a two—week leave gives them a chance to play at The Edge, a private bondage club, and they find that once in a while, you get what you wish for.
Lock and Load by Desiree Holt
Book two in the Attack Force series
Two people who want a relationship built on trust yet neither believe in it…until he shows her how to accept his domination and she learns the true meaning of submission.
Beau Williams, the perfect sniper, has achieved success by closing himself down emotionally. He desperately wants to find a permanent sub who enjoys spanking and caning as much as he enjoys administering them, but he doesn’t know if he can open himself up to another person ever again.
Megan Welles is still struggling with her need to be a submissive. She wants a man who will give her that without destroying the strength she needs for her job as sports reporter. And she’s tired of hooking up in bondage clubs but never connecting emotionally with anyone.
When she meets Beau and takes him home for the night, something clicks between them, but how will they deal with the struggle to open up their emotions to each other?

Overall, the book is well written, well researched and with some brilliant flashes of dialogue (my favorite thing!). It's not so much about the soldiers here as it is about the women who make happy prisoners of their soldier's hearts; proving that love can win more battles than any army. A recommended read!
Lock and Load (Strike Force #2) by Desiree Hol 4 stars M/F thriller romance Triggers: Murder, war I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This is the second book in this series, but I believe that it can be read as a standalone.
Beau is a tough sniper who prides himself on his ability to read people and do his job well. He has never really believed in love or even in true relationships, but seeing his brothers in arms start to pair off gets him thinking. Then, when he meets Megan, she starts to seal the deal for him. He starts to want things that he has never wanted before.
Megan is an independent woman who is awesome at finding the story. When she sees a pattern among older athletes, she starts after the story - not really caring if there are consequences. But, when it becomes apparent that someone is after her, she is thankful to have Beau close.
Beau's need to protect is kicked in to gear when he realizes that Megan is walking a dangerous road. He has a degree from MIT and lends a hand in more than one way to Megan. These two have a great relationship when they are together, but when push comes to shove and both want what they want - Beau to protect and Megan to continue to have her independence, they will have to decide if they can compromise or if walking away will be the best decision.
For me, this was a great story. The only issue I had was the predictability. The who done it, for me, was obvious and that took away from the story.
I love the writing of Desiree Holt; her romantic suspense is the best. She mixes alpha heroes with stubborn heroines and creates a recipe for superb entertainment. The storylines are always intriguing and impossible to put down. I highly recommend the writing of Desiree Holt and the thrilling story of Beau and Megan. Great characters with some action and some mystery. Beau was a fantastic character and had finally felt something stronger than a one night stand. Megan was also a great character who was independent and a reporter. Beau being a Delta was use to orders. Loved the chemistry and the story! Looking forward to the next book!
Even though it was a short book, there wasn't much to it. There was heat with Beau and Megan but maybe not chemistry level. In the beginning of the book it seemed like everyone meet at Edge, but according to the first book it was the Hutton party and then Edge. A few more scenes might have been good to be added. Oh well. Thanks Desiree.

Lock and Load is the second book in the Attack Force series by Desiree Holt. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone novel without any difficulties. I chose this book because who does not enjoy hot military men falling in love.
Beau Williams is a hot and sexy sniper who is emotionally closed off. He knows what he wants, a sub, one that enjoys spanking and caning. Beau’s biggest issue is he does not want to open himself to anyone. Megan Welles is a submissive who is struggling to acknowledge the need inside her. She has a rough job that requires her to be strong and assertive. She needs someone to help balance her needs with her wants.
The chemistry between Beau and Megan is scorching. The sex scenes are smoking hot. I admire the strength that Megan has to submit to Beau and acknowledge what she needs. Beau struggles to open up to Megan and that makes them the perfect couple because each has issues and is understanding of the others needs.
I found this book well written with interesting and realistic characters. At 81 pages, this book is well formed with a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end and does not have the short story feel that many books have. This book is perfect the way it is. Overall, this is a fabulous story.
Beau Williams is a hunky military sniper who keeps his feelings under wraps. A Dom by nature, he looks for the subs he takes as stress relievers. Unfortunately being closed off, Beau has a hard time with people. Megan Welles, a sub and reporter, falls under Beau's spell when she wants to do a story and asks for an interview. As they spend more and more time together, Beau is anxious that the budding relationship they have will die out once Megan's story is finished. He is having way too much fun exploring her submissiveness! When Megan's questions are ruffling someone's feathers, she becomes a target! Beau's got her back as he wants to help and protect her.
First off, this is book two in the Attack Force series, but it can be read as a standalone. Desiree Holt has given us a very well written and informative read! Her characters are believable and real. Both Beau and Megan have their own issues to work out. When they are together, they seem less daunting. I enjoyed reading their romantic journey. Military men giving their hearts away is gold in my book, and look forward to more books in the series!
