When Ellie Hansen returns to her mission city of London for one last trip before her internship starts, she's surprised to find the hotel packed with paparazzi and screaming fans hoping to spot trending pop star AJ Robbins, who's performing in concert nearby. And when Ellie s and AJ's paths happen to cross, Ellie is shocked to recognize the hot celebrity as Austin Robbins, her old high school classmate from Idaho who rose to fame in her absence. Happy to reconnect, the two escape the clamoring crowds to explore the city Ellie has grown to love. But just as their feelings begin to heat up, so do the mobs of fans, making Ellie doubt she could handle the pressures of celebrity life. And when the two witness a horrific bombing on the streets of London, Ellie's camera makes her an unwitting intruder in the eyes of real mobsters who will stop at nothing to cover their backs.

This book is an old favorite of mine- just had to re-read it again!
I love the serendipity of two old acquaintances meeting up in Europe. Their lives have definitely changed since they first knew one another, and the romance that followed was sweet.
I absolutely love a good clean romance with some action/adventure mixed in, and this book definitely has that! Some of the danger puts you on the edge of your seat, but it adds well to the story.
I liked how it showed the realities Ellie has to face in order to be with Austin. Being with a famous celebrity would definitely raise a lot of issues, both good and not-so-good.
The ending was satisfyingly happily-ever-after, although I would have loved to see it stretch on a little longer- maybe an epilogue?! Still, definitely a great read and one I pick up often to read again!

MY TAKE I really enjoyed the story. It was fun to see Austin have a chance at "normal" for a little while. The falling in love was kind of insta-love, but Austin and Ellie had known each other before, and she'd even crushed on him back in high school.
There's a lot of action and suspense.
4 1/2 stars

My only real complaint was how long the last separation/misunderstanding took. It seemed like the story was ready to conclude and it dragged on a bit too long. But it didn't ruin the story.
I don't know what it is about celebrities, but the thought of meeting a famous singer and falling for him is intriguing...until you get to the paparazzi part of it.
Austin and Ellie went to high school together, although he's two years older, and I'm very glad that they knew each other somewhat before they met up again years later, because otherwise, the romance would have been too fast for me. I thought it was so sweet how they ran into each other and recognized one another, especially since Ellie really had no idea who Austin was. Aside from being the super popular guy from her hometown. I love those kinds of stories.
I guess I don't really think about what it would be like to be a celebrity, because those descriptions of outings and avoiding the paparazzi were almost giving me panic attacks! That would be a situation to weigh carefully--could you deal with that forever? No privacy?
The mystery/suspense element came as a bit of a surprise and it took the story to a new level. I loved how the dog, Toby (great name--that's my dog's name), unknowingly helped things along.
I thought Austin handled their reuniting poorly--he was pretty immature about it--but quickly fixed the situation and turned it into a tender moment. I loved the supporting characters--especially Jake. I loved the ending!
Content: non-graphic violence; no language; mild kissing. Clean.
Buckle up as you get to the last part of the book as it is pretty intense, until it is not. The story was interesting and I mostly liked the characters but I got out of patience with some of their insecurities, especially at the end. Ugh! I just wanted to fast forward through some of the silly thoughts and lamentations. That part was a little over the top. Overall though it was worth the read.
3 1/2 stars. There were some parts of the plot that were unlikely, and I was frustrated by the main character being stupid enough to follow a mafia guy across London (and by the police not even trying to stop her from doing it), but I still read the book in one sitting. I liked the author's pacing and the way that she developed the supporting characters as well as the main characters. I also though she did a good job of depicting the craziness of fans and paparazzi; I felt the claustrophobia that Ellie experienced as she and Austin were mobbed by his fans. Also, it is always fun reading a story set in places that I'm a little familiar with.
One other note: I appreciated the author's decision to tell us about Austin's songs instead of writing lyrics for them. I've read too many books where the author tells us that a song's lyrics are amazingly poetic and profound, and they just aren't. Good call.

Ellie Hansen returns to London where she served her mission and planned on seeing old friends and doing some site seeing before she started a photography internship. She just arrives at her hotel and who should she run into but an old high school friend that she hadn't seen in years - he is now a huge big star and will be performing there in London. Well they hit it off and spend a great deal of time together and Ellie finds out what it is like to be a star, you can't go anywhere without a mob and the paparazzi chasing you down. No only do we have a romance that is great, but we have a murder, a kidnapping and broken hearts that all need to be fixed. A fun story to get lost in.
Great story - reading about the paparazzi and the screaming crowds that followed AJ was eye opening. What a hard life to always be surrounded by that and not be able to go out and enjoy things without all the hype. Staying in a hotel room doesn't sound like that would be alot of fun. It was a great ending how they incorporated Ellie's photography into the story so that her and Austin could be together and Austin didn't have to give up his music.
Very enjoyable easy listen. I love this particular narrator. AJ is a pop star from small town Rexburg and is met in London by a former classmate-Ellie-who recognizes him from school but not from music. They fall in love and she gets caught by the Italian mob after they both saw a bombing happen. Story of how they come together and try to keep Ellie safe. Cute story. Not much meat, but a cute story.
Apparently a book can be cheesy, have plot holes, and still make me feel good to read. It was a quick easy read, and as long as I reminded myself that this made more sense if it took place in the early nineties when cellphone communication isn't what it is now, I didn't feel as frustrated about the inability for Ellie & Austin to talk. Also, the cover is super misleading. Who the heck is the dude on the cover? Why am I looking at the London eye at night?
Great LDS romance/thriller about Ellie and Austin who had known each other in high school and reconnect in London. Austin is now the famous A.J. Robbins, one of the most famous pop stars. The two witness a horrific bombing, Ellie takes pictures, and just happens to take a picture of the bomber. Now the Mafia is out to get her. It was exciting and inspirational.
A little less than 4 stars for the singer not trying any harder to get through to her and the jerky response the singer gave when she finally met up with him at the end but a good story and a good ending
When your vacation to London gets hijacked by a super star singer the Italian mafia has a target on your back! I'm not a big fan of love at first sight stories but this one had just enough action that I enjoyed it.
A cute novel! I picked this up in the religious/Christian section of my library. It’s a good way to ensure a nice clean book. I liked the fun storyline of this book. The plot moved quickly. A little suspense but nothing too crazy. A cute romance but not over the top cheesy.
Return missionary spending a little time in London afterward re-meets a boy from her high school. AJ has made it big in the music world, and Ellie finds herself more and more attracted to him. Fighting throngs of admirers is hard, and they find themselves in the middle of a gang war.
I read this book a while back and had forgot about it. I picked it up on audio and listened to it. I love it. It was such an enjoyable story. I am glad I have it because I can listen to it again.
Wow! This book was amazing! Loved the storyline. It has the perfect amount of romance, suspense, and drama. Every book I read from Sian Ann Bessey is amazing!
I adore this book ❤️ I am so sad when I finished the book. I have many ties to this book, I grew up in Rexburg, ID, I worked in the concert business for 2 years. This book was so familiar to me.
