Kate's life sucks. She's tending bar at a run-down dive. Her immoral boss fondles every co-ed within reach. The clientele is made up of TV-glazed zombies, drunkards, and ... who is that in the corner?
The Thunderbolt Hits.
She hadn't thought it was real. But when she looks into Sean's eyes, the force of the connection staggers her. Her mind desperately seeks to pull her back - he's an ex-felon. Far too talented with those rippled muscles and toned fists. He's everything she should be staying away from.
She craves him from the depths of her soul.
His touch smolders her skin; his fingers expose her to worlds she never dreamt existed.
But when his secret is ripped free from the dark shadows, their lives teeter on the brink of destruction.

Dwell in Possibility is the first of four novellas in the Worcester Nights series. Due to the strong sexual content and adult situations, this book is recommended for readers aged 17+. The first three novellas have cliff-hanger endings, which lead to the final novella with a happily-ever-after.
Ophelia Sikes fervently believes that every one of us deserves dedicated, passionate love in our lives – coupled with a soul-deep respect which supports our dreams.
Ophelia adores Worcester, Massachusetts with all its gritty streets, rows of muted-colored three-deckers, and tough-as-nails can-do attitude. She’s lived in this area since college, with only a few brief flings in other locations. No matter where else she travels, she’s always delighted to return home. From the row of restaurants on Shrewsbury Street to picnicking at Elm Park, from the summertime boaters on Lake Quinsigamond to the St. Patty’s Day Parade, there’s just something about Worcester. She hopes she’s brought this lively, unique town to life for her readers around the world.

Dwell in Possibility by Ophelia Sikes is the first book of the steamy Worcester Nights series. This is a continuing series that needs to be read in order with each having a cliffhanger carrying a reader over between them.
Kate is working in a run down bar in which she hopes to only be a stopping place until something better since the boss is a jerk and the clients not much better. But of course one night Kate sees Sean and sparks fly between the two.
Yep, one of those I will begin with this is a novella so of course we just had to fast forward everything instead of giving the characters any depth or detail. Seeing that this is a continuing series I actually expected more to the relationship than there was and really didn't find myself connecting with it at all unfortunately.
Dwell in Possibility was a short read. I loved the idea of Kay and Sean, I suppose cause it was a short read there wasn't time for the whole long drawn out courting/getting to know each other's histories...lol
There was a lot of drama in such a short story. Hate the long drawn out explanation of things so that was a plus for me. But then I felt that the connection between Kay and Sean was a bit rushed towards the end. A good cliffhanger, which will make a lot of people want to read the second book just so you can see what happens with the two of them.
I will most likely read the 2nd book because I am interested in seeing where the story goes
I would like to thank the author for an opportunity to review her book. Dwell in Possibility is the first of the Worcester Nights series. I would say this is a start of a good and promising series. Katie/Kay had high hopes for her future as journalism graduate and she knows that working in a bar will not accomplish that. But she met the mysterious, enigmatic and hot Sean whom she felt an instant and electrifying connection. The sexual tension on their first meetings were sizzling and intense! I can totally imagine myself in Kay's shoes! Whew! *fanning self* Kay doesn't approve of what's happening in the bar but she promised her friend whom she's filling in for at the bar, that she'll keep her mouth shut. But towards the end she decided to do the righteous thing to the point of almost jeopardizing her relationship with Sean. Then Sean had revealed something that had my jaw dropping. I like Ms. Sikes' wrting style. It's refreshing but intense at the same time. I was totally engrossed that before I knew it, the book ends! Yes, it's a cliffy but not that really bad cliffy. It leaves us readers with wanting more. And I will definitely follow this series to see what happens next!
Plot: C+ This book is so lovey dovey and ott...but not really in a good way. "his eyes soaked me in like a salmon breathing in the scent of its long lost home....what the hell kind of language is that? Because this is from a love struck girl, and everything is too perfect. It really seemed to have no plot. But then there was a twist at the end, that i'm sure will be interesting, leading to a cliffhanger. Characters: C Katy was ok. She just seemed too love struck, her head in the clouds. I couldn't get a read on Sean. He just seemed too perfect with no depth. Though he has a past, it's put all out there from the very first meeting, and it seems there is nothing left to share. The cliffie changed things though. Heat: C The scenes read like a halrequin romance. No very descriptive and language with the climax being compared to a thunderstorm or something. Kind of boring.
The book was kind of flat, but I'm mildly interested in seeing what happens next.
Kate promised her friend that she would work at the bar in her stead until she comes back. But now Kate is feeling trapped and has discovered that her boss is a pig who will fondle everything he sees. Then one shift she meets Sean and suddenly Kate finds herself dressing with him in mind. She also realizes that Sean is everything that she should avoid; the ex-felon bad boy. Will Kate keep her distance or will she fall for Sean only to have her world torn apart?
I thought this book was pretty good. I enjoyed the characters and I thought that Kate and Sean’s relationship developed well. I wasn’t prepared for the ending which rarely ever happens to me. The ending alone makes me want to read the next book in the Worcester Night series: A Soul Ajar. I look forward to continuing this series and I cannot wait to find out where Ophelia takes Kate and Sean’s relationship.
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
**ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review**
The story started a little slow for me, but about halfway through I started to enjoy it. It is a short read with a lot packed into it. The main characters, Sean and Kate are great. I loved their chemistry. Kate is stuck working as a bartender filling in for her friend and hates every minute of it. Her boss is a married pig who is constantly having girls into the office for pleasure. One night Sean starts coming in and Kate is very attracted to him even through he is an ex-felon. They friendship develops into a very hot relationship. The cliffhanger ending has me dying for the next book. I never saw it coming. OMG!!!
I love the main male character, Sean. I loved that he was strong and caring. The story moved along well and I wanted to keep reading to see what happened next. There were a few big surprises, too. I thought I had everyone figured out and then the story revealed another side to the characters.
OK, I FINALLY read this. I got it Free a while ago but I just left it on my tbr pile.
It was boring. I finished it but the characters were SO BORING. And it was set in a bar. Too sad to be believed but I read it so I DO believe It. I get the title now and Sean does have *A* redeeming quality but you find out in the last sentence and, I'm sorry but too little WAAY too late.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and especially the locations (the descriptions were awesome.) I absolutely loved the ending. I think I have found another favourite author to add to my pile.
You people should just read this book yourselves and write your own review on this novel yourself and I really enjoyed reading this book very much so.Shelley MA
This book is like a can of cheap mixed nuts... You know the ones that scatter a few decadent cashews and pistachios in a can of 90% peanuts? So let's start with the peanut portion of the book, shall we~
Insta-lust That Could Lead To Imploding Vaginas~
Insta-lust doesn't even begin to cover the scenery in this book. This is insta-infatuation with a splash of obsession, like Jodi Foster stalker level OCD, with enough twinkling eyes, knowing smirks, and heated gazes to start a circus. ***flicks peanut at circus elephant***
For crying out loud I'm surprised Katie's vagina didn't sprout tentacles to suck Sean in before imploding. From the moment she laid eyes on him, she's all "tsunami of desire," "burning desire,""blast of electricity," "a bolt of lightening," "time crystallized" around us, "swirl of desire, heat washing through her, etc... that "craved him with all her being." This shit consumes her every damn thought for almost HALF the book. Yes, it's cheesy, repetitive, trite, and absolutely not my idea of hot. Katie falls under a new list I'm making - female MCs that get spiked with Viagra every chapter.
Immature Voices
I swear if this chick didn't emphasize that she worked at a bar and was a college grad, I'd have thought I was reading a 13-year-old pubescent's diary circa late 80s Tom Cruise. No shit... There's even a "I feel the need- the need for speed" line in the f'ing book and a screwing scene set to the backdrop of the Top Gun movie playing. Seriously... Ehh... That's just... Words fails me here.
Wait... Did The Author Leave Out A Few Chapters?!?
Romance missing chapters?
This goes from random strangers (one of which is living at a half-way house for jail birds mind you) meeting in a bar...
... to him coming in a couple times and saving the day from Cuban goons
... to some oral sex under an apple tree.
... to BAM her giving him a necklace she hasn't taken off since her dad's death and telling him "be safe & come home to me" like they're engaged and he's about to be shipped off to Iraq.
Did I miss a few chapters here where an ACTUAL relationship or story was developed?!? Just curious because the tone of the relationship just up and changed from lustful attraction to serious "I'd trust you with my life" without a single bit of dialogue or incident.
Plot missing a few chapters?
Sean, is fresh outta prison for armed robbery...
Comes into a bar by his half-way house a few times...
Cuban goons try to push the bar owner out of business & he saves the day...
The bar owner and his own goons are seeking revenge...
Bam, Sean is suddenly part of the group (street soldiers) going after the Cubans! Wtf?
There's no f'ing dialogue or narrative (no story) telling how he went from a random parolee bar patron to one of the bar owner's "soldiers." Not a bit of pause that his a convict on parole?
This is beyond disjointed story telling. There are large chunks of connective dialogue, narrative, & scenes that are just MIA here.
Mine, Bitch
"And he was mine." ... Yeah, I got that the first dozen times she said it.
What's With The Paranormal Vibe
Sean seems to ALWAYS know exactly what she is thinking. He listens to classical music and his hobby is photography. She immediately falls into a lust stupor. ^ So, Yeah, I honestly thought I was going to be told he was a 500-year-old vampire. But, nope, no vampire; An all together different twist awaited.
FINALLY! The Cashew And Pistachio Portion!!!
So, I did not expect the two twists at the end. It was actually very well played. It retrospectively fit in the story, but was totally unexpected. Bravo for surprising me and not having me facepalm at it.
Some of Sean's lack of concern for his future make sense ON HIS PART after his twist, but all the other peanuts of the story are still there. The disjointed gaps in storyline & the weird insta-infatuation the morphs suddenly into 'trust you with my life' kind of relationship is STILL a serious problem in the story. The other twist is spot on & makes this otherwise really bad book interesting enough to continue onward & drags it by the skin of its' teeth from a zero star book to a 2 star book.
I had read a few very emotional - for me - books in a row and needed something quick, distracting, mindless, and maybe fun to act as a band-aid for my soul. This fit the bill.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Story: Katie/Kay works at an Irish bar to help her friend out, who is away to take care of an ill grandma. Unfortunately, there is no timeline and she gets bored. Also, her boss Jimmy has young girls coming over has sex with them in his office. Katie doesn't like this as Jimmy has a wife who also works at the bar (but not all day). Katie has a degree in journalism but hasn't found a job yet, hence she can help her friend out. Katie has four brother, three of which are policy officers.
One day, she 'feels' something and she sees Sean Miller at the bar. He is the H. He is good looking, ex felon and they have an instant connection. He is also a very good boxer (taught by his dad till he was 9 years old).
Then one day, some Cubans are coming over, Sean helps Jimmy kicking them out and suddenly Sean is 'in'.
Katie (or Kay as she is called by Sean) and Sean fall for each other and have mad passionate sex all the time.
Then she finds out that Jimmy and his wife have a 'side business' (oh... that's why Jimmy has an on flow of girls in his bar and why half of the profits of this book go to a certain cause) and she is very upset with Sean (he is aware of this business) and then he reveals something about himself.... the end, to be continued!
I really wanted to like this book, but it didn't work for me. I didn't feel anything for H or h. H/h have instant lust/connection and sex, which is fine with me. Too many loose ends, unspoken/not mentioned questions for me. Also, a 'big' iPad?? There is only one size iPad or you have an iPad mini or iPad Air (or you have the iPad 2 or 3). I thought that was funny.
Finally, I don't like books with cliffhanger endings....
The instant connection between the main character, Katie, and her love interest, Sean was actually quite believable. Not believable ? That first love scene. I think its November or at least some time in fall, and there is just no way that anyone is having sex, outside, in New England at that time of year. Especially not some girl who barely dated in high school and then ended up in an abusive relationship through out college, because someone like that just wouldn't be that kind of sexually adventurous. Other unbelievable moments were some of Sean's behaviors during the development of their relationship. A single rose left on the pillow? A perefectly cooked morning after breakfast? Him knowing her favorite movie and arranging this over the top viewing at an abandoned drive-through theatre? Suddenly he's listening to classical music? The ridiculous behavior reminds me a lot of Christian Grey from 50 Shades. I don't even want to get into the fact that Katie grew up in a cop family, her father was in fact killed in the line of duty, and she just easily falls into this criminal element without batting an eyelash? It was totally okay for these guys she works for to run off and beat up on some OTHER gang members, but she balks at them running a porn operation??? Where is the chatacter consistency ??? I'm also a bit miffed that the gang members threatening her boss happen to be Cuban, and being as how this is set outside of Boston (a place known for having tense race relations) , I suspect slight racism... Bottomline, I really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. I'm really sorry too, because I really liked the synopsis and the beginning.
'Dwell in Possibility' is a really great, short and fun read. I got through it very fast and the plot also moved very quickly perhaps too quickly sometimes in terms of the romance and the main character's relationships but otherwise it was great as the plot was full of action and drama.
The story is about Katie who has recently graduated with a degree in journalism but jobs are hard to find so she decided to help her friend out who works in an Irish bar but needs time off work to do something so Katie takes her place and it feels like her time there is never-ending with her boss cheating on his wife with young girls every day and Katie having to face his wife as she works there too. She is completely fed up until she meets gorgeous Sean.
I felt like the book should have definitely been extended as so much had happened in a short amount of pages and the plot could have been given a lot more of the mystery element too. Also, Katie and Sean's relationship and romance could have been given a stronger base.
The two character Katie and Sean were pretty good. Personally, I didn't feel connected to them and I didn't feel any empathy towards them but they were pretty decent characters. The way Katie saw him and just had to 'have him' was very eye-rolley and cringy and I just desperately wanted it to be developed more before they got together.
All in all, a very fun, slightly mysterious story. A very quick read that you won't get bored of as the plot is always full of action and drama
*Thanks to the author who sent me a free copy in exchange of a review!
Jimmy owned O’Malley’s Bar (Kelley Square in Massachusetts). Seamus called him. Kate (Katie, college student) & Joey worked at the bar. Bridgit O’Malley came into the bar. Jimmy & she were going to a baby shower. Kate had broken up with Derek. Sean Miller (Hell’s Kitchen) recently released from prison walks in. Confrontation between the Irish & Italians. Kate & Sean reminisce about their pasts. There was always trouble nowadays with the Cubans in this neighborhood. Kate’s BFF Eileen who also works at the bar visits her Grandma quite frequently at County Kildare.
Jimmy & Semus were having a meeting in the back. Sean took Kate for a ride on his 1955 Triumph motorcycle. Sean kind of became Jimmy’s bodyguard against the Cubans. Kate shared her family upbringing with Sean. The 2 were kind of falling for each other.
Kate confronts Sean about what she witnessed that went on in the warehouse.
Cool book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written romantic crime suspenseful, mysterious thriller book. It was very easy to read/follow & never a dull moment from start/finish. No grammar errors, repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting, frightening scenarios & a great host set of characters. This could make a great romantic crime movie or TV series. No doubt in my mind a very easy rating of 5 stars for this book. Thank you for the free book Tony Parsons MSW (Washburn)
Dwell in Possibility was a short read. I loved the idea of Kay and Sean. I liked the passion that they had for each other and the love.
“That was all I needed. I shattered, a million crystals rising high into the night sky, reflecting silver light, turning, spiraling.”
I felt like it could have been more passion between them. They story could be so much more. I wanted to read a little more angst in the story and not the easy falling-in-love-story. After all good drama is what makes a good book (in my opinion).
I felt like their story was very fast paced and jump from one big event to the next. Although I did like the big events, I thought I missed a lot in between.I definitely like the ending in the book, because I never saw it coming.
Over all I rate this book between 2.5 and 3 stars, simply because I liked Kay and Sean but they could be so much more.
I gave this book 3 stars. What I liked: I really liked the first half of the book and getting to know Katie and Sean's characters. For the most part I could feel their connection especially when he first came in to the bar. I really liked the ending, I figured out the twist at around 90%, which I appreciated because I can rarely get surprised in books. I also like a good cliff hanger! What I didn't like: I just couldn't believe the love story, like I said, I felt the connection in the beginning but then I just felt like it was rushed, unbelievable and just cheesy. I feel like the scenario with the Cubans came out of nowhere, and I didn't quite get it. The book was too rushed for me.
Overall, it was not one of my favorite books but I finished it and I'm glad I did, because i loved the plot twist at the end. I will most likely read the 2nd book because I am interested in seeing where the story goes :)
This is the first book I've read from Ophelia Sikes and I like her concise writing. This one is short and fast-paced. There's a cliffhanger at the end, but I later learned it's better to get a boxed set on Amazon ($4.99). I haven't read the other books yet though.
Let's see, it's narrated in a first person point of view and there's the instant attraction coupled with lust. Hero turns out to be a felon who was recently released, he did time and as things progress I recognized the routine of the main character.
Looking on the outside, it's exciting. Kate hasn't felt for anyone so strongly before, and it seems the stranger Sean likes her equally. They spent time together and finally did it until Kate discovers something she shouldn't have seen.
Of course I'm not spoiling it here folks! All I have to say is there's an aura of danger here, and the sex was hot.
This was a quick read and held my interest even though there were some taboo subject matters which took me out of my comfort zone. Kate is too good to be true and doesn't always take her safety seriously. At least people at the bar where she worked seemed to look out for her. Sean appears in the bar one day and there is an immediate attraction. They go with it even though he's a definite bad boy but she doesn't seem to care. He seems to be an unexpected romantic as well.
There are twists and turns to the story and most aren't the happily ever after type. There's a lot of darkness along with violence, hot between the sheets and other places moments, a neighborhood bar to hang out in and Irish pride. There is an unexpected ending which seems to lead to the next book in the series, A Soul Ajar.
Ms. Sikes is a fairly new to me author only having read one of her books previously. I may or may not give more of her books a try.
Dwell in Possibility was a nice short read. I liked Sean and Kay as characters. And even though I know this book was a short read I wish their relationship couldn't have grown more. It seemed as if they saw each other, went on one date and fell in love sort of thing. I feel like their relationship was rushed a little. There was a lot of drama going on in such short time with the bar she worked at and with Sean. I honestly would not want to read the second book but the ending leaves you with a very big cliffhanger and now I must figure out what's going to happen.
I downloaded this book free from Amazon. It just didn't work for me.
1) The instant love between Kate and Sean was so intense that I thought I was reading a romance with vampires/werewolves. Seriously, because I download several books at once, I forgot what this book was supposed to be about. I thought they were destined to be together or they "imprinted" or something. This really takes "love at first sight" to the next level.
2) They're together and then it's sex, sex, sex. And of course they're in love. I felt no connection here.
3) The whole rivalry between the groups of people confused me.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So my honest review is this, although the author had a good idea, I don't think that it made its way onto the page. The story is rushed and the characters aren't particularly interesting. I know this is the first in a series but I hope the next book is an improvement.
I think if this was condensed and the rest of the novella's in the series add to it, it would make for a good novel.
It took just a little bit to get me going on this book. But once I it did grab me it didn't let go. Katie is amazing. Strong, and very full of life. When she meets a handsome stranger one night her world is yurned right again. Well you will have to read the book yo see if it stays that way for her ans her handsome stranger. You are goibg to adore this book. I can't wait to see what is in store next for Katie
Although this book was fast paced and not what I though I really enjoyed it. Sean and Kay fell in love instantly and than things progressed from that. It was a quick and I can't wait to read the other books in the series so I can see what will happen between these two
This book was a slow start-up,but after a few pages it sucked me in I couldn't put it down. Took me a day 1/2 to finish it. This is the first of this series by Ophelia Sikes I can't wait to read the 3 remaining books. I have now become a fan of hers and looking forward to reading more from this Author great job
