The rebirth of the Sentinel of the Spaceways continues!
The Silver Surfer has taken Genis-Vell, son of the late Captain Mar-Vell, under his wing — but even the Power Cosmic can’t replace the love of a father! The Surfer knows something that just might be able to soothe a broken heart, but is it worth a clash with the Infinity Watch? Beloved creators Ron Marz and Ron Lim return to reveal an untold story from their celebrated 1990s run on SILVER SURFER — and they’re not the only time-travelers appearing in this retro adventure!
Marz is well known for his work on Silver Surfer and Green Lantern, as well as the Marvel vs DC crossover and Batman/Aliens. He also worked on the CrossGen Comics series Scion, Mystic, Sojourn, and The Path. At Dark Horse Comics he created Samurai: Heaven and Earth and various Star Wars comics. He has also done work for Devil’s Due Publishing’s Aftermath line, namely Blade of Kumori. In 1995, he had a brief run on XO-Manowar, for Valiant Comics.
Marz’s more recent works includes a number of Top Cow books including Witchblade and a Cyberforce relaunch. For DC Comics, he has written Ion, a 12 part comic book miniseries that followed the Kyle Rayner character after the One Year Later event, and Tales of the Sinistro Corps Presents: Parallax and Tales of the Sinestro Corps Presents: Ion, two one-shot tie-ins to the Green Lantern crossover, The Sinestro Corps War.
His current creator owned projects include “Dragon Prince” (Top Cow) and “Samurai : Heaven and Earth” (Dark Horse).
This was such a good volume and this whole series by Marz and Lim has been kinda like that, this one we see Silver surfer and Genis team up until they are deceived by Mephisto and so it becomes a quest for the surfer to find his friend and he takes the help of Thanos and its the return of Black Surfer with Thors hammer from Cates run which was nice to see, fun battle, and then Mephisto being the trouble maker again and another story with time travel and all and fun cameos and the return of Eve from last volume which was so fun to see and she gets a big moment here, I just loved this whole volume. Its fun and fast to read and has so many great moments and cameos and evolves the characters in fun ways and gives you a great message plus adventure and shows you how fun marvel cosmic is and gets to the heart of the surfer as a character! Highly recommend this!

They wrote what are, in my opinion, some of the best Silver Surfer stories from the 90s. All that considered, I'm pretty tired of the Marvel 'Retro' experience that's been taking place in 2023. I enjoyed them then. I don't necessarily want to go back and find a 'new story' or watch how they wedge a 'new character' into past storylines
CASEINPOINT... Eve Warlock
It's not bad. It's just entirely forgettable and hits notes that other storylines have done better.
This little Rebirth series is interesting as far as these new stories in old times are concerned. Introducing a brand new character in the last one goes a long way to making it feel important. And I’ve grown to like Eve Warlock a bit. I’ve always enjoyed The Silver Surfer despite not knowing a whole lot about him or his stories until more recently. I definitely don’t know much about Genis-Vell but he’s appearing a lot lately so it’s nice to see where he’s been in the past.
