Dependent Days

Rate this book
Ninety percent of the galactic population is addicted to morphagens, drugs that transform the user into fantastical and mythical creatures. But the dark side of these genetic breakthroughs is that if you miss a dose or can’t afford your next fix, you are put on the “Detox List” and ruthless Druglords send highly skilled bounty hunters to collect. No addict since the invention of morphagens has detoxed and avoided enslavement. You only have two choices in life; addiction or slavery.
Roe Driskell is the best hunter in the business and he has never taken a bribe. But when his latest bounty, a young elf named Izabel Ramsey, ends up saving his life, he agrees to her demands. But Izabel doesn’t just want her name crossed off the detox list. She’s the illegitimate daughter of the most famous rockstar in the universe and she wants to know who faked his suicide and why.
Sweeping across the galaxy from the grimy underworld of city-planet San Andreas to the untamed frozen tundra of Arktikus, Dependent Days spins a story of Werewolves and Centaurs, Minotaurs and Merfolk. Giants and Vampyrs, who live together in a bleak and unforgiving world. Here a renown chemist plots to murder her abusive husband; a game show host refuses to give up his day job and take the reins of the family Empire; a power hungry Druglord struggles to keep a murder from unraveling in order to prove his worth. Amid plots and counter-plots, tragedy and betrayal, friends and foes, a disturbing truth about the origins of morphagen addiction hangs perilously in the balance, as each person struggles to survive their own Dependent Days.
