Willow Emery is in the middle of chemotherapy when she literally runs into Asher Wellington on the sidewalk after treatment with a rather unfortunate outcome. She is alone in a new city and doesn’t need anyone in her life. If life has taught her anything it’s that you can’t rely on anyone.
Asher is a young widower, devastated by the tragic death of his wife Olivia three years earlier. He has given up the idea of ever finding the kind of love that he shared with his late wife.
Will one fateful day bring two lost souls together? Will taking a chance lead them to a happily ever after or will the challenges they face keep them apart?

Gosh this book hit me right when I needed it most. I've been reading so many angsty books that I'm almost depressed or rather I was until reading this beauty of a book. Sweet romances are hard to come by anymore. It seems like so many books now have so much angst I almost want to cry by the time they are over having felt like I have been through the ringer.
But not this love story. No! This couple just melted my heart and I even cried happy tears. All the way through I smiled and even swooned. Asher was perfect in so many ways and the romance was so sensually sweet.
Loved this so much and I'm a fan of Annalisa Nicole's from here on out.
DNF 35% ============ I tried to read this book twice and the dead wife ends up stealing the scene and I lose interest. I have to remember to avoid dead wife trope.
Falling asleep in Asher's arms I am completely loved, scars and all.
Although Take a Chance, does include Cancer in it's storyline, I don't think that is the main message that comes over when you read it.
Willow is alone, and Asher is grieving, and after a less than auspicious introduction, involving vomit, over time they come together as a couple. There are a lot of themes running through this book all of them positive Forgiveness, the power of family and allowing grief to take its true path, not matter how long that journey may be. Asher has a large family of whom he is close too. Their togetherness, gives Willow strength to look at her family and try to right the wrongs of her past.
I loved the romance in the book as well, this is an all out hearts and flowers love story. Asher is the perfect gentleman, dinner, movies, meeting the family and being on hand too support Willow through her remaining Chemotherapy sessions.
Willow - Having nice things like this in my life just isn't what being me is all about.
The flowers -
And the jewellery -
This is a great debut from Annalisa Nicole, and I certainly feel she has a true talent and lots of potential. Two things that didn't quite work for me were the epilogue (major spoilers, so that's all I will say on that one), and at points word repetition got a little too much. Example below -
"I'd like to see you again tonight if I can. Can I bring dinner to you and see you again tonight?"

~~ 5 "Second Chance at Love" Stars ~~
I have to say the hopeless romantic in me LOVED this book. This was one of those books that some people will say is over the top sweet and mushy, but that's what I loved about it. Sometimes you just want to read about a functional couple who have some demons to overcome but truly love each other. Yes you could kind of consider this book an insta-love type story, but it wasn't really in your face about it. The author did a great job with the creating the connection between Asher and Willow before any declarations of love were said. This was a fast paced book, that is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow of the book worked well, yes it seemed rushed at times but not enough to deter me from truly enjoying this book. This book is a great story about the journey that Asher and Willow take together at a second chance for love.
Both characters were at the lowest point in their lives in the beginning of the story. A chance encounter (Willow running into Asher and then vomiting on his shoes) sparks a journey of learning to open oneself heart and mind to love again. Willow was a really strong character. In the beginning of this story, Willow is given some life altering news and hits rock bottom. She is all alone and feels she has no one to count on. Enter Asher.....he was also a great character. He suffered a tragic loss three years ago and is having trouble moving on with his life. Once he meets Willow and finds out about her situation he feels drawn to her and is determined to help her. I loved watching these two people grow together and separately. It was wonderful watching them open up their hearts again. In my mind Willow and Asher were meant to be together.
This book was pretty much drama free, but there were two small misunderstandings that were cleared up fairly quickly. This truly is a book for the person who is looking for that fairy tale come true. It makes you believe that everyone deserves to be happy and it is possible to find love when you least expect it. This is the first book in a 5 book series, but it can be read as a stand alone, as each book will be about a different Wellington sibling. Amelia's story is next and I look forward to reading her book.
I'm only writing this because maybe it could help the author. Not that I'm an author or write at all, but because I read a lot of romance books and I have a good sense of what works and what doesn't.
This book is a DNF for me. I bought the whole series in a box set sale, and honestly just a few pages in I could tell it wasn't for me. But I kept going. I got about half way through or more before I had to quit for the second time.
Here's the big problem...the wordage is completely unrealistic. There are paragraphs of one person speaking to another person with the second person not responding at all. It comes across as being a lazy writer and not wanting to add more breaks with punctuation etc. if I tell my husband to bring me something from the kitchen, I'd say, "hey babe, grab me a pop." Not..."Will you please get a pop for me?" And if my hubby does something nice(like a dinner or flowers) I say thanks and give him hugs and kisses, I don't go into short sentence monologues telling him, "thank you for dinner. Thank you for flowers. Thank you for being you." It just reads wrong.
My second issues is the flowers. This guy literally brought her flowers each time he saw her. Before work, before dinner, delivered flowers on a whim etc. and let me remind you I only read half this book. It was way way way overkill.
I hate not finishing a book with potential because I always wonder what happens. But I just don't have time to waste in a book that doesn't feel authentic and genuine. If I could give this author a piece of advice(not that I'm anyone important), I think if you repeat your writing out loud to someone or no one at all, you'll hear the robot-ness of the wordage. This storyline has the potential. But I've read too many good and even great books about Cancer/widower romance. It just didn't stack up.
The story definitely suits the title. It is all about taking a chance, having hope and surviving.
Willow meets Asher while running away from her chemo. She needs up throwing at his shoes. Since that little run, Asher can't get that beautiful read head with stunning green eyes out of his head.
Willow and Asher get together and it does feel like insta-love in their relationship. Asher has his demons.
How will come over this? It was nice read with a heartbreaking touch.
Sometimes you really need to read something lovely and light hearted to just get lost in for a while.
This was my Saturday morning laying in bed until midday read.
This is a sweet love story between two people who have both been through their own struggles and sorrow in their lives and they literally collide. Physically she runs into him but their hearts collide too.
Asher is the kind of guy that every girl dreams of meeting, he is sweet, thoughtful and open with his affection. His family is so lovely too and I believe there are more stories to come about them.
Willow is starting to make head way in a new town and a new job when she receives some startling news. She has been alone since she was a teenager and is use to dealing with things alone, having no one else to lean on for support.
A chance meeting with Asher completely changes things for both of them. Willow is completely swept of her feet by this wonderful man.
It was so nice to read a story that wasn't full of angst and drama. Just a sweet love story.
Willow Emery grew up in a small town Nowheresville, Illinois in a trailer park, with her mother whom she didn’t get along with very well. One day after her high school graduation she got into a fight with her mother, packed up her bags and headed West, where she put herself through college and earned herself a degree.
Willow is now settled in her life in Seattle she’s an executive assistant to a VP at Wellington Corp, she thought her life had finally turned around, she has a nice condo, nice car, and a Yorkie named Lucy. It took her five years to put herself through college, she put everything on hold including dating. But all that changed one day for Willow on her birthday of all days. She was informed she has breast cancer that’s when she realized she only has worked at Wellington Corp. for a few months, she has no friends yet, how the hell was she suppose to deal with this news?
Asher Wellington is the CEO of Wellington Corp. he’s also a young widower, his wife Olivia died three years earlier. Asher hasn’t dated and he’s given up any idea of ever finding the kind of love he shared with Olivia. Asher goes through the emotions in life he puts all his time into working. He does has the support of his parents, brother’s and sister’s.
There first encounter with one another was quite interesting to say the least, Willow is half way through her chemotherapy treatments she’s in a hurry to exit the building and she literally slams into something hard, almost knocking her over. Asher is there to catch her as she suffers from the side effects of her treatment. The first thing she notices are his eyes, they are the most amazing vivid blue eyes she has ever seen (Gorgeous Eyes has she calls him). She notices he’s also tall, dark sandy blond hair, broad shoulders, muscular. Then she proceeds to throw up all over his expensive shoes. She’s so mortified all she wants to do is go home and imagine this never happened.
What on earth did I do right, how did I get a knight in shining armor?
Asher can’t seem to stop thinking about Willow, he finds himself wanting to be with her, to help her through her treatments. He doesn’t understand why he feels such a pull to this woman he has been grieving his wife’s death for the past three years, he never thought he could find love like that again. He decides to listen to his inner voice (a voice he knows very well) and take a chance on love again, because you can really have more than one great love in your life, right. Maybe it’s ok to let go and love again.
Will taking a chance on love again lead Willow and Asher to there happily ever after?
Can one fateful day bring two lost souls together, and find love they both crave?
Take a chance was a sweet love story about a beautiful couple, it dealt with a very serious subject matter, a strong heroine who fought her illness and kicked cancer’s ass.
The epilogue had me happy then sad, I guess I understand why the author felt the need to tell it this way.
Take a Chance is the first book in the Running Into Love series, the next one will focus on Asher’s sister Amelia.
Okay, the ending/epilogue got the tears...very sweet. Review to come with my tour post on 1/22.
**FULL REVIEW**
“It’s confirmed that you do in fact have breast cancer.” As he continues to talk, I don’t hear the words coming out of his mouth….All I can think is this has to be some cruel sick joke!...”But today is my birthday. This can’t be happening on my birthday.”
Willow Emery would have no luck at all if it weren’t for the bad luck she seems to carry…or so she thinks. Being diagnosed with breast cancer at such young age, not having a soul to talk to or help her through the most trying time in her life, not even family to call upon; it seems it can’t get much worse. That is, until she runs smack into “Gorgeous Eyes” and throws up all over his expensive Italian leather shoes.
“Since that run in with the red head, I can’t keep my thoughts straight. I have not had an interest in looking at another woman since Olivia died. But this woman sent feelings though me that I thought I buried along with my wife.”
Asher Wellington wasn’t expecting to meet the next love of his life on that fateful day. Truthfully, he was still mourning the loss of the first one; except when Willow literally crashes into him, she does more than just leave the contents of her stomach at his feet…he is starting to feel something again, and the only way to know for sure exactly what it means, he has to find her again. Starting with her next appointment…
“We continue to just look at each other in silence while Zoey goes about hooking me up. It wasn’t weird or strange. He just made me feel comfortable in an otherwise awkward situation.” *** “This is just crazy. Why he would just want to sit with me, a complete stranger is beyond thinkable. I can’t take this silence anymore.”
Deciding that if Asher isn’t going anywhere, Willow might as well make the best of it…and hey, it’s nice to not be completely alone for once. Now, to just sort her feelings for a man that knows about the worst part of her and wants to stay anyway.
Not sure of what is happening in his life, Asher struggles with his guilt for finally feeling something other than pain and the new emotion blooming in his chest; hope perhaps? Hope that he can find love again, guilt because he feels as though he isn’t being true to his feelings for Olivia. “Take a chance.” But what if that chance only leads to more heartbreak?
“I was still mourning the death of my wife, and I was starting to have feelings for Willow. How can I keep feeling both of these at the same time? ... In my mind, I know she’s gone, but my heart is just not letting go.”
Following Asher and Willow on their separate journey to find each other was probably one of the sweetest stories I’ve read. It’s truly amazing what tears people apart and what brings them together. This was a beautiful tale of love overcoming odds…taking chances on the unknown…and letting go. I enjoyed reading Take a Chance and look forward to more from Annalisa Nicole!
This book was received from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Take a Chance is the first book in the Running Into Love series. It is also Ms. Nicole’s first novel. Another thing it is, is a supremely satisfying love story filled with hope, strength, and hard earned new beginnings.
Willow Emery is new in Seattle when she receives devastating news – you have cancer. Great. Just when she feels like she has put her life on track and is heading in a positive direction, now she gets to deal with treatments alone. But she’s strong and has been on her own since she left high school, so how tough can this be? Halfway through chemotherapy treatments, that answer becomes crystal clear when she exits the building after a treatment and literally runs into Asher Wellington, who promptly catches her as she suffers from the side effects of treatment. Luck seems to have deserted Willow in her hour of need.
Or has it?
Even though their meeting could not have been more mortifying, Asher cannot stop thinking about Willow. He has been grieving his wife’s passing for three years and never thought he’d find love like that again. But there is something about this woman that has him spellbound and determined to learn more about her. When he decides to listen to the inner voice telling him to take a chance, he discovers that it is possible to have more than one great love in your life, and it is okay to let go and accept what life gives you. Even if it doesn’t look or feel like you think it is supposed to.
Take a Chance made me happy. And it made me smile. Ms. Nicole did a great job with keeping the illness integral to the story but without bogging it down in clinical minutiae. Willow and Asher are people to cheer for. They’re likable. You want them to get their HEA and are anxious to see how the story unfolds for them. I’m glad it turned out the way it did, and I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us with the second book in the series. I would give this 4.25/5 stars.
I just finished Take a Chance and I thought it was a very cute story. Meeting in the most embarrassing way Asher and Willow are thrown threw a loop on how quickly things progress with them. Willow just finding out that she has breast cancer and has to do 6 treatments has just finished her 4 when she bumps into Asher. Lets just say that she makes an impression. Asher cannot stop thinking about her and decides to meet her again and her next appt. What starts out to be a chance meeting turns into a beautiful commitment. Both has secrets and are willing to share when the time is right. What will happen when those secrets come to life? You will have to read and see.
I loved the story line and characters. I thought that they were sweet and caring. Asher is handsome and understanding. Willow is sweet and loyal. What more could you ask for with them. I did think that Willow had a few child like moments. All she had to do is stop and ask Asher what was going on. This is a story so you have to have some conflict. I would have liked for it to not be there. Did it take away from the story? No. I just think it was not needed.
The only problem that did take away from the story for me was the dialogue between the characters. I felt like there was some instances where when one question was asked but then there was a reply with several answered when it only need one, if you know what I mean. Also felt like at times there wasn't a distinct feel for who was talking. I was still able to follow and it was still a good story, I just sometimes don't like to re-read a sentence to see who is talking.
Other than that, it was still an enjoyable story to read and honestly would like to see what ends up happening with the other family members.
***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Take a Chance is a beautifully written love story and must read. From the very beginning the Prologue grabs and pulls on your heart strings, and I prepared myself for what I thought was going to be heavy hearted read with lots of tear and a box of Kleenex. I did not expect the story that I read when I first opened the book. By the second page of chapter one you are drawn into Willow and Asher’s world and you truly never want to put the book down. This love story has devastating events for both main characters and is about trust, loss, illness, recovery, healing, second chances, and the ability to love again.
I do not want to give away spoilers, no more than what the synopsis does. Willow’s breast cancer is intertwined into this story without using too much medical jargon. Asher’s heartbroken loss of his wife 3 years ago and how he struggles with moving on. The way that Olivia, Asher’s deceased wife is there in their dreams to help bring these 2 together, and I just love the way the yellow roses are also used to bring this great love together for Willow an Asher with memories of Olivia.
I loved the way Annalisa wrote this love story from both main characters’ POV, it helps to bring both Willow and Asher to life. The writing style is as if the author has been writing for years. I am giving 5 stars for this love story that gives you hope for finding a second soul mate and is about second chances. I also, loved the epilogue as it gives you the lifetime HEA that you know had to be. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and cannot wait to read the next book.

A beautiful love story
Take a Chance by Annalisa Nicole is a beautifully written love story about two young people who have had the worst happen to them.
Willow Emery, alone since the age of eighteen, has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and Asher Wellington, a young widower who lost his wife to a Drink driver, crash into each other not he side of the street. Willow is leaving the hospital, alone, after one of her treatment and runs into Asher only to look into he gorgeous eyes. Feeling nauseous after chemo, she throws up on his shoes.
Mesmerized by her beauty and strength, he is invited by her nurse to come to her appointments. No sure if he could ever love again, Asher decides to "take a chance" and show up at her next appointment. Realizing that she has been doing this all alone, he finds himself falling for this beautiful, strong and vibrant woman who speaks her mind. Willow finds herself falling for this kind, loving, and supportive stranger.
This is a beautiful love story about finding out who you really are in a time where things are at your worst, either fighting cancer or the lost of a loved one. Annalisa Nicole tackles two heart crushing topics with love, memories, and support. I can't wait for the next book of the series.
This is Annalisa Nicole’s debut novel and the first book in her Running Into Love series. Right away this reminded me of a very traditional love story; two characters quickly drawn to one another and facing some very difficult times in their lives. What’s the one thing that can help them overcome? Well each other of course.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters in the story are full of sincerity and tenderness. Annalisa creates a very strong female lead that is easy to relate to and root for; even at times when she is a bit insecure or quick to judgment, you can’t help but rally in her corner. Her male lead is equally lovable; charming, successful and romantic; did I mention hot, oh yes very hot. Asher may just leave you drooling and dabbing at your chin with item #4 from above checklist. The intimacy between Asher and Emery gives off some steam but is not too high on the heat factor, definitely up there on the Swoon-O-Meter though, some scenes will definitely leave your heart gushing. This story has an abundance of supporting characters, mainly Asher’s close-knit family. Both his parents and siblings are not only understanding throughout the novel but immensely compassionate and welcoming of his and Willow’s growing relationship, I found myself wishing I was a Wellington on various occasions!
There are several moments in this book that will melt your heart, make you cry and even some moments that might get you frustrated. I would have liked some more character development between the leads and the supporting characters in the book as I felt that was a little rushed. However, overall this debut novel was well written, the story was hopeful, believable, affectionate and heartwarming. Lastly did I mention that this book references The Princess Bride, oh yes pass that Kleenex please…As You Wish
Great debut novel. I was lucky enough to proofread this book. I loved Asher and Willow's story. I found it refreshing and heartfelt. Some of the subject matter may hit a little close to home for some.As many of us have probably been in similar situations to the main character. Willow's life has been rough for the last 12 years. Raising herself while her mom worked like crazy. Twelve years later she finds herself with an amazing job, that she really loves. Only to be dealt a bad hand again. The big "C" When she makes a run from the nurse at the treatment center, she runs right into Asher Wellington. He is the most gorgeous man she has ever set eyes on. And if running into him was not enough, she proceeds to throw up on his pants and shoes. Embarrassed beyond belief, she continues on her way home. Not knowing that the nurse has handed him her next treatment card. Has fate stepped in?
Asher Wellington, has suffered on of the greatest losses of his life. He doesn't know if he will ever get over the loss of his wife. When Willow Embry, literally comes crashing into his life. She stirs feelings in him that have long been buried. Is it time to let go and try and find happiness? Can he find a way to honor his late wife and make a future for himself?
Well done Annalisa Nicole. I look forward to Amelia's story.
I will have to say this story was 4 star for me, it was a very sweet love story.
Willow is the main female characther and she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer after living in a big city all alone with no family and no friends. She has some complications from her chemotherapy one day and litterally runs into a tall dark and handsome man and she runs away mortified because of the outcome of running into eachother, she can't trust anyone never will.
Asher is the main male characther in this story, he had a big tragedy that happened 3 years ago when he was wife die a tragic death. He will never be able to love someone the way he loved Olivia he is broken and his pieces will never get back together. Will one day change this for him when he meets Willow the woman who runs into him?
These 2 have a chemistry that can't be denied. Can they help eachother heal? Can Asher fall in love with someone that could possibly die a tragic death again from cancer? Can Willow trust a man and love him knowing she might be dying? You will need to pick up this story and see for yourself how it all unfolds. This isn't your have tons of sex story but it does have some steamy scenes, which I was thankful for. This was a sweet loving story that will melt your heart and make you cry at times.
Go get your copy and I look forward to more stories from this Author!
This a very emotional story about a young woman who is struggling to face cancer on her own. Willow doesn’t have any that can be there for her, so she braves it alone. She left home and her mother right out of high school and hasn’t looked back. In comes the handsome and young widower. Asher has been mourning his wife for three years now, after losing her to a drunk driving accident. He and his family don’t think he’ll ever recover. Asher meets the lovely young redhead in the most unlikely of ways. Once he has, he starts to feel interest, something that he hasn’t in the years since his wife’s death. He isn’t sure how to feel about that. Still his curiosity leads him to Willow. As the spend time together they start to form a bond through their own personal struggles. But can they both overcome their fears and their pasts in order to Take A Chance on each other? You can find out by picking up a copy of this sweet love story. I really enjoyed the fact that this wasn’t just a bedroom book, there was a wonderfully written story here. Don’t get me wrong, there was passion, but it didn’t overwhelm the book. I recommend having some tissues on hand when you delve into the journey with Willow and Asher, it can be a tearjerker, but it is interspersed with wit and some comedy to lighten it up.
After reading the blurb for Take a Chance by Annalisa Nicole I thought I was in for a seriously heavy read with tons of angst. I was surprised to find that though there were devastating events that occurred in the lives of each of the main characters, this was more of a sweet love story about healing and moving forward.
Willow Emery has breast cancer. She is halfway through her chemotherapy when she meets Asher Wellington, a young CEO still mourning the loss of his wife three years after a tragic accident, in the introduction of all introductions. She literally runs into him outside of the treatment center and pukes on him. This chance encounter leads both Willow and Asher to find exactly what they each need in order to find happiness and healing. Asher soon turns into her knight in shining armor and Willow helps Asher to rebuild and revive after his loss.
Although I am a huge angst junkie and was actually looking forward to a heavy emotional read, I never snub my nose at a heartwarming story that is fulfilling and touching. Take a Chance is exactly that, a moving story that is beautiful and uplifting, hopeful and emotive. A delightful debut and I look forward to reading more from Annalisa Nicole in book two of the series about Asher’s sister Amelia.
Cancer sucks, and if it hits while your single, what hope do you have of finding someone to love? Or for that matter, do you even want to? Willow Emery is a smart, career-orientated woman and doesn't let cancer get in her way. She tries handling it all on her own. Her mother is out of the picture and she doesn't really have any friends. Finally, though, what appears to be a rude nurse urges Willow to get rides to and from chemo treatments; its the rules, she insists. Willow doesn't heed her comments, but on her way sneaking out, or rather rushing out of the treatment, she runs directly into Asher...and vomits! Not the way you pictured finding a potential mate, right? Well, Willow has to decide if she wants to take a chance on this. So does Asher. In fact, the story alternates between Willow and Asher's points of view. It works well, too. Although at times the story may seem fast-paced, it works and doesn't bog you down.
If you like romances, I totally suggest you read this. However, if you're looking for detailed sob story on cancer, not so much. This isn't a John Green or Lurlene McDaniel type of novel; this is pure romance, and I loved it!
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A beautiful love story that was short but sweet.
This was such a lovely story that often bought a tear to my eye. Willow and Asher were a beautiful couple and I loved how you could feel how strong they loved each other. There was the story line of Willows cancer but there wasn't loads of drama, this story didn't need it however so the fact that there wasn't, was perfect for this book. It was just a beautiful love story. Asher's brothers and sisters were nice character additions as they bought a more light hearted feel. I loved the overall ending, it was perfect and what the characters deserved, however I didn't love the epilogue, I understand why the author added it in but it left me feeling sad, when the overall story had left me feeling uplifted and happy. That is my only complaint though, the rest was perfect and this is just the book you need for an afternoon read and those who want a little love in their lives.
This is the story of Willow who has no friends or family, despite living on her own for 12 years. She's had a bit of a tough life, but it's kind of weird that she has no friends. We meet her as she's attempting to run out on her breast cancer chemo because she doesn't have a ride. She literally runs into Asher and throws up on him. Asher's got his own issues as a widower but seems drawn to help her anyway.
I had a really hard time connecting with these characters. I have no idea why they even like each other except that the author tells us, rather than shows us.
Now onto the writing which was not very good at all. It's like a high school kid wrote this. In the e-version I read, there were numerous grammatical mistakes and inconsistent use of present/past tense. There's little character development, and the dramatic parts of the story weren't all that dramatic, nor were they developed all that well.
And, there's lots of schmaltz in this story which was just too much for me. Gah. The epilogue was over the top.
Take a Chance is one of those stories that makes you want to believe in fate and that you get second chances in life! Willow is seriously all alone in this world, with the exception of a pretty awesome little dog, Lucy. She has recently started a new job in a new city, and chemo. This is also when she meets the gorgeous-eyed Asher Wellington, in the most dramatic way possible I might add! Asher has recently become a widow and is convinced that he will never love another. Everything either has thought they knew seems to be up for question when Willow runs into Asher and a nurse makes a mistake. Take a Chance is so heartwarming. From the Wellington family, to the support Willow had without seeing it. And of course Asher and Willow. I had such a hard time putting this one down. I can't wait for more from the Wellington family, and from Annalisa Nicole. What a great debut! Five stars for sure!!

Sometimes you just want to curl up with a good book and a glass of wine and escape for a little while, and Take A Chance was perfect. Described as a modern day fairytale was apt. Light, funny, touching, Take A Chance was the perfect distraction from a long week. Willow is 30 something, independent and about to take on a shock medical discovery on her own. Asher is going about his day to day life, running a successful company, surviving but not really living after losing his wife a few years before. There's chemistry between the two after literally running into each other, but what I adored was that their relationship grows slowly, never seeming like instalove. Such a lovely lovely story, inviting you into their world, with a cast of strong supporting characters you easily fall in love with. Can't wait to read Amelia's story, I love a HEA and I have a feeling this series will not disappoint.
I'm so sorry to give this one star rating. I wanted to like this one so much. An H who is sincere, kind, sweet and not a manwhore? Sign me up. This was also a completely safe read, as in there weren't any OP, flashback scenes of intimacy with OP, cheating, or triangles, which is so hard to find nowadays.
Unfortunately, this story was also boring. And everything happened so quickly. Add to that the constant appearance of the H's dead wife in dreamland and I was done. The two MCs sounded the same. Asher was sweet, but sounded like a woman, or how a woman would want a guy to be.
Both MCs were also extremely repetitive. They just kept saying the same things about themselves over and over again. I think this story should have been a novella and half as long as its current length. The book also needed another edit. Grammatical mistakes were aplenty and definitely hindered my enjoyment of this even more.
I really enjoyed this story. I found it a very interesting choice to have the main character with breast cancer. To start any relationship during such a tough period would not be easy on anyone. I was cheering for their HEA as the relationship grew. I like the choice not to make this a love triangle or create any additional major problems along the way. Her issues with cancer and his past are more than enough baggage to deal with. I only had two issues with the book. I found the appearances of Asher’s deceased wife throughout the book to be a bit too much. I was also not a big fan of the epilogue. I don’t think it was needed.
THIS BOOK IS AMAZING LOVED IT, I WOULD RECOMMEND IT FOR THOSE WHO LOVE ROMANCE BOOKS. ASHER COULDN'T GET MORE PERFECT AND WILLOW IS A SMART AND STRONG GIRL. IT HAS AN AMAZING STORY LINE AND ITS WELL WRITTEN.
I GIVE THIS BOOK 4.5 STARS, THE 0.5 I DIDNT GIVE WAS JUST FOR SOMETHING MINOR, BUT IT KIND OF JUST COULDN'T MOVE ASIDE. THIS WAS HOW NICE SHE WAS ABOUT ASHER'S LATE WIFE, HOW SHE WAS OK TO JUST GO AHEAD AND ACCEPT IT. IT WAS WAY TO FAST WELL IN MY OPINION IT WAS. I GUESS BECAUSE I WOULD ACCEPT IT BUT NOT THAT FAST I WOULD HAD TO GET USE TO IT.
Annalisa Nicole is a new novelist that writes like a veteran. I couldn't put this book down! Asher and Willow (LOVE the names) had amazing chemistry and pulled me into their story from the first chapter. Asher is one of the hottest millionaires in all the current books out there. If you loved Braden, Gideon or any of the Billionaire Bachelors you will love Asher. Willow is a strong, independent and beautiful character that makes Asher's world whole. I can't wait to read more stories from Annalisa!!! ~Amanda
Take a Chance is a wonderful, sweet, and enduring love story. Willow and Asher are so good together, and I loved their story! Asher definitely deserved a second chance at love, and Willow was just the right woman for him. They were adorable, and while their story was not the simplest, it ended being absolutely perfect. It was heart-wrenching and heart-warming all rolled into one. The characters were well developed and real. I'm so glad I was able to read this story, Annalisa did a great job. Looking forward to reading more by her, Amelia's story should be wonderful to read!
I very much enjoyed this book. It was such a sweet love story. I shed a few tears but not too many and nothing major. It made me feel like everything is worth taking a chance. If you fail, you fail, if you succeed, it would be so worth it, especially falling in love. Definitely pick this book up.
3.5 stars A beautifully, tender love story. Asher and Willow were not looking for love- but fate truly does step in. They are there for each other- and develop a strong friendship that turns into a long lasting love. Made me smile and cry and sigh with happiness for them.
