How can she go on?
Can she ever feel whole again?
What if she can’t save herself from the pain that wracks her body and soul?
Shannan Harshell lives in western Pennsylvania with her husband and two children. She fell in love with the written word as a child and has been writing since she was young.
She is a full time reader, part time writer. Reading and reviewing for multiple book blogs is her favorite past time.
Thankfully her numerous kindles or kindle app are always with her, whether it's in the waiting room at the doctors office or standing in line at the grocery store, her nose is stuck in a book.
This book to me was like a yo-yo, it had bits and pieces that kept me up on a high and parts of it hit me as lows. It infuriated me, had me laughing out loud and more than once it broke my heart and picked me back up again, all in the span of a few hours. Once I started it, I had no choice but to read to the end - Amy’s story got its claws into me and wouldn’t let me go.
In the beginning, I have to admit that I was on the fence about this one - it was a little hard to keep up with the 4 different POV’s, there was a few times I was confused about who was telling me the story. However, the farther I got into the book - it was made clear why the story needed to be told that way. Once I got into the groove of S. M. Harshell’s writing style, the book started to flow a bit better for me. I don’t give up on a book easily and dammit - I’m glad I didn’t give up on this one!
Amy is such a fun loving character. She’s kind hearted and easy going, a girl that’s truly happy with her life at college. She has everything - a great roommate, close friends and she kicks ass at playing baseball. What more could she want right? Well there is one thing she wants...and it’s her best friend Ryan. Having been in love with him since she was 13, she’s struggled for years to deny her true feelings for him - she’s stood by to be the token “friend” and nothing more.
Ryan is every girl’s dream...sexy and fun, dark haired annnnnd an athlete. What’s not to love? A baseball player like Amy, he’s just the kind of guy you always dream you would end up with one day. Ryan’s dream is that Amy becomes his girl - yes, the two of them are stubbornly stupid and don’t admit their feelings to each other. It will have you tearing your hair out and mentally picking them up by the seat of their pants to shake some damn sense into them. Like any good romance novel, as soon as Ryan decides to make his move, its too late and Amy has moved on to dating a new guy…
I mentioned that we see this story through quite a few other POV’s right? Let’s chat a bit about them. Brandon. Brandon, Brandon, Brandon. Sigh, now he is a drool worthy boy - rough, edgy, tattooed and a whole lot of bad boy. He is Ryan’s best friend and he plays a key role in finally getting Ryan to admit his feelings for Amy. He was the spice that this book needed and man, is he a wicked one in the bedroom! He’s your typical tortured bad boy, and I loved seeing his shenanigans through his eyes.
Amy’s roommate is her best friend Jessica, I loved her character - she was saucy and lively and she pulled out the wilder side in Amy. Jessica and Brandon had serious flirtation going on - I enjoyed that we got to see their interactions not only just through the eyes of Amy and Ryan, but of the two of them as well. It offered us a rare glimpse of their true feelings and emotions and the farther I got into the book, I found it to be genius.
This book is filled with drama and angst, and more than a few things you won’t see coming. It takes an unthinkable act to happen to Amy to have Ryan finally taking the plunge and admitting his real feelings for her. Here begins their love story. And it is epic. S.M. Harshell definitely has a talent, I fell in love with Amy and Ryan just as they did - head over heels. They went all in and loved each other with everything they had. Their connection warmed my heart, his protectiveness of her gave me little butterflies. True love is a rarity and these two found it.
So that’s it right? Game over? They found their happy ending, they fell in love - the end. No, it’s not the end...its only the damn beginning. Out of the blue, S.M. Harshell delivers a crushing curveball, the fastball you never see coming. She digs deep into the bullpen and slams us with an unimaginable combo that will leave you reeling and wondering what the fuck you just read. Honestly, it should be a prerequisite that tissues come with your copy of this book! Be prepared..
This book is a journey of love, friendship, heartache, grief, turmoil and healing. You may think you know what its all about in the beginning, you may think you want to put it down and never pick it up again but believe me - by the time its finished, you will truly know, understand and be glad that you were a part of Saving Amy.

"The pain you feel today is the strength you feel tomorrow"
**Get your tissues ready!** A heartbreaking journey of love lost/love found!
-No Spoilers-
I don't know how to review this without giving the story away, but I'll try my best. The story starts out with life long friends becoming lovers. I predicted that part. There's Amy and Ryan, the perfect couple. I thought it was weird we were also getting Brandon's point of view. I'm reading along, wait, what, why am I in Brandon's head. Brandon is Ryan's best friend, well he's also close to Amy. A triad of friendship. Don't go thinking this a love triangle, well, not really. ANYWAY, there's a reason we are in Brandon's head. I actually liked Brandon's POV, he was the edgier bad boy type that we all love!!!
SO, 65% in and I'm picking my jaw up off the floor!!!! OMFG Did this really happen, am I reading this right? I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING! NO EFFING WAY!
I feel like the huge twist in the story will shock most and piss off more but I think it defines what the story is really about. "Saving Amy" I got teary eyes at the end, it was bittersweet! No worries...HEA!

Amy and Ryan, Life long best friends become the perfect couple, which I predicted. What I didn't expect was what happened in the middle of the story! This story kept me interested. I couldn't wait to find out why Amy needed saved. When it all came together I was surprised at who it was! Although this story involves some heartbreak there is a HEA! I was crying at the end.

****3 1/2 Stars rounded up to 4 Stars****
This book was not what I was expecting. The pain and turmoil that Amy goes through is enough cause anyone to to break. Saving Amy, is a story that tells Amy's story from three points of view and it all comes together in the end.
There is a major plot twist in the middle of the book, that I had a feeling was going to happen, but the whys and hows were truly a twist.
I had a few issues with the timeline, but nothing kept me from enjoying the book.
I was honored to be given an ARC of this fantastic book, and I loved it! S.M. Harshell first novel is fantastic. I read a lot, and not a lot of books surprise me. This one did, and that is a great thing! The story line is compelling and heartbreaking at times. Her main characters are realistic, believable and likable. I really felt a connection to Amy, and the author did a great job in making me feel for what the character goes through. Trust me when I say, this book is a winner! I am so excited to read more from S.M. Harshall in the future. You must add this to your to be read list.
Close to home hitter! I was able to relate more on a personal level with this book! S.M. Harshell knew just what she was doing to captivate her readers when she wrote this one! Reading Saving Amy had me on a roller coaster of emotions! This is well worth your time of reading!
Wow, Saving Amy is an amazing read. The blurb for Saving Amy doesn't really tell you a lot about the book. That being said it's really hard to write a review without spoilers but I will keep any spoilers out of the review.
Amy seems to have everything. She has a great group of friend, which consist of Ryan (who she has know forever), Brandon (who is like a brother to Ryan), and Jess (who is Amy's roommate and best friend). The four of them hang out together a lot.
The book starts out nice and sweet and then there is an bad event that happens. But even though it's bad something good comes out of it too. That's not the only bad thing that happens to Amy, just when you think everything is perfect an unspeakable tragedy happens. I was completely shocked by what happened. This sends Amy spiraling out of control. I was glued to this book, I couldn't wait to see how it all turned out.
Once you pick up Saving Amy, you won't want to put it down until you finish it. Warning: You may want to have some tissues handy just in case.

I truly enjoyed reading this first Novel by S.M. Harshell. The story-line reeled me in. Best Friends Amy and Ryan trying to figure out if there could be something more in their relationship. Can this be the love of a lifetime or does tragedy tear them apart. Not only is this a love story but it is also suspenseful and heart breaking. The twists and turns of events in this story will leave you weeping and wanting more.
I received an ARC to read and review for an honest opinion.
I am at a loss and rarely do I write bad reviews. I will say the book was forced. The plot was so completely rushed and I felt a knockoff of a few different books. The one by Ginger Scott sticks in my mind. Either way it is a story of a boy and girl who are best friends and both secretly in love with the other. Those kinds of things are so over told and unoriginal just as a 20 year old virgin please!
There were details that were baffling to me and I wont give the plot away but I will say here is a hi-light TWO of the same incidents here, both unlikely- in my opinion
have never been so embarrassed in my life. His girl? What the hell is that? "Sir, I wasn't flirting. I was just asking if she wanted dessert. If you feel I was acting inappropriate, I do apologize." "Don't act like you don't know what you were doing. I'm calling your bull*** . You knew exactly what you were doing, but I called you out. So now you act like you were just being the super waiter." "Yes. I am sitting right here and she is flirting with you. Granted, this is just a night out and we aren't committed, but still. Who does that?" Read more at location 1241 * Delete this highlight
This was it when it came to a character for me too. Picture this your daughter is beaten up by someone she doesnt know and went on only one date with and you say what?
Take your time, okay? You both need to sleep." My dad says, "See, Abby. She's okay. Let's go. I am exhausted." Read more at location 906 * Delete this highlight
So that is enough for me. It is downright stupid to have him say this. Exhausted please! As a parent to more than 1 college age kid I would lose it if I heard anyone say this.
Another blip was the title How Many Saving Amy titles are there? too many. The cover although I liked it has been used a few times too last Paradisal Tragedy by Ada Marie it just dont do it.
