B.J. Daniels the Cardwell Ranch Collection: Crime Scene at Cardwell Ranch\Justice at Cardwell Ranch\Cardwell Ranch Trespasser (Cardwell Ranch #1-3) by B.J. Daniels
I have finished this trilogy and have mixed feelings about the books.
Book 1 – I liked the mystery, the hero and the heroine. I also enjoyed the setting, which continued through the three books. Well done.
Book 2 – The hero of this book surmounted his poor behavior in the first book and became sympathetic. The heroine was a deputy marshal and I liked her quiet confidence. The story line was a bit convoluted with a 20-year gap between a death in high school and a new murder. Unfortunately, the hero did have a TSTL moment that didn’t make any real sense except to further the climax. A decent read, but not as good as Book 1.
Book 3 – Where do I start? A woman passes herself off as a long lost cousin of the heroine of the first book. Only the heroine’s best friend thinks something is wrong. The hero and heroine of the first book unaccountably become terminally stupid in blindly welcoming this woman into their home, especially as the first book’s hero is the town marshal. This story is a creepily good study of a psychopath’s mindset, as she enmeshes herself into the hero and heroine’s lives and home. This book’s murder is rather incidental to the main plot of the slowly encroaching evil of the psychopath. I’m not at all a fan of psychopath/serial killer/lunatic subgenre fictions, so I only finished this book because I wanted the evil woman to be caught. Overall, the third book was different enough from the other two that, to me, it was an awkward fit and might have been better as a standalone. Then I wouldn’t have read it. A disturbing read for me.

Pick up this collection...you will not be disappointed and YES, I would recommend this read to you.
this was a great set of books and I really enjoyed reading them. They were all great but I really loved the third in the series it was so great The psycopath, Dee, really held my attention. She was so evil you never knew what she would do next. You have to read these books. They are great
Three good stories with drama, intrigue and suspense. I thought the second story was the most well written. It was an interesting way to introduce a back story while advancing the current one.
As always, B.J. Daniels did not disappoint. Her characters are authentic and the small details she includes kept me totally involved from page one through the end.
