He’s been exiled to south Texas by his tycoon father for his Hollywood party boy ways. And while it might not be Hell exactly, Lorenzo Maggio is pretty damned sure he’s close enough to smell the sulfur. He’s expected to mend his wicked ways, become a contributing member to the family business, and save the struggling Distribution Center in the middle of Nowhere, Texas. To make matters worse, his new administrative assistant reminds him of Tinkerbelle, the pissed off fairy with her big blue eyes, knock-out curves, and take no prisoners attitude. She thinks she runs the place, and is about as welcoming as a snarling Doberman behind a rusted chain link fence. So much for Texas hospitality.
Callie Cameron has helped more than her share of corporate deadbeats move along to their eventual destination on the career ladder at Italia Carpet and Tile. It makes no difference to her which way they go as long as they stay out of her way and let her run the place like she always has. This latest corporate offering won’t be any different from the rest, in spite of his runner’s legs, Hollywood looks, and bone-melting smile. There’s no way she’s going to forget the heartbreaks in her past and put herself in a position to lose again.
But wildfire ignites in unlikely places at the most unexpected times … especially in Texas.
A Pediatric Nurse for the past twenty years, Diane wrote her first novel on a dare from her best friend while in Nursing School. Turns out, it was a pretty good stress reliever.
Married to the same handsome guy for the past thirty-six years, she recognized early on the value of his cooking skills, and he found out that her writing behooved him. It's still a darned good combination.
Diane is a proud Native Texan, who believes that Texas men are some of the strongest, smartest, sexiest men on the planet, and with that inspiration, she creates heroes who'll stay on your mind and in your heart for quite a while after you've flipped the last page.
Diane's debut series is a Contemporary Romance trio, Texas Wildfire Series, but she'll also release a Historical Romance in 2014.
For starters, I should give at least a 4.5 based on the cover alone. But, i won't, yummy though it is. The truth is that I enjoyed the story just as much as the cover. I wasn't sure at first -- a spoiled rich younger son from Hollywood sent into exile for his partying ways. It didn't seem like a strong base to build a likable alpha male from. Lorenzo (Ren) surprised me though...and that may be the weak point of the story. It's hard to believe that this capable, intelligent man could mess up so severely to be exiled to Nowhere Town, TX. The h isn't very likable until we hear the rest of her story and learn that she's a survivor of unbearable tragedy. Together they seem to work. The book struck me as very HOT but maybe it's just the phase of the moon or something. This is the 2nd book in the series and now I've purchased the 1st book. It's a definite keeper!
This is a good book, I enjoyed it very much. Ren has come to town to take over the DC for their company. His father is tired of him being constantly in trouble with women and fast cars, he has sent him to this small town to teach him a lesson. Callie Cameron is the girl who presently takes care of this company since they have no head person. When her and Ren meet sparks fly and not good ones. As they learn to work together to try to save the company they start to have an attraction toward each other. This is a sweet story
I kind of loved this story and it was just what I needed when I began reading it. I am giving it 4.5 stars instead of 5 because there were a couple things that seemed to be just thrown into the story line that could have been done better.
The editing was done well. The flow kept me interested and wanting to know what happens next.
I loved Ren and "Tink" together. Both characters are strong independently, but when they come together it is chemistry at its finest. Their relationship grows as each of them deal with their own personal struggles and that is so refreshing instead of an insta-love kind of connection. The sexual chemistry is hot, but the actual sex is even better. It was sensual, romantic, needy, and steamy all rolled into one. Diane Roth definitely knows what she is doing. I even had some tears during a few scenes.
I did not realize this was part of a series when I downloaded it, but each book in the series is undoubtedly stand-alone but some characters are seen in the other stories.
If you are looking for a romance with a little good lesson, strong characters, and some hot lovin...this is definitely a book you should try.
I love the first book The Other Brooks Brother by Diane Roth so much I had to read her second book Wayward Son. I really liked it. I loved the characters and the way their relationship developed. The underlining story of how the rich spoiled man came into a sleepy town and tried to save it was also very touching. Ren and Callie had great chemistry. Callie was a tough cookie, she lost a lot and came through stronger. I was hoping for more of the characters in the first book, which we see briefly at the end. Overall, good writing, fast read, great characters, nice romance!! I would read more from this author!!
This was a charming, well-written book with a great message, too. And still manged to be sexy and romantic! No "insta-love" either, which was a nice change. The characters grow, and their feeling for each other evolve organically.
