A soldier is nothing without his honor.

To avoid a dishonorable end to his decorated military career, John Noble made a deal with the devil. He gave up his name, endured harrowing training, and accepted every mission thrown at him for one purpose: redemption.

An ambitious reporter, Amelia Bennett, is about to break the story of her career, if she lives long enough to tell it. Caving to her boss's demand, she hires a bodyguard and soon it is obvious John Noble is the only obstacle standing between her and certain death.

Just when John believes he has found someone he can trust and love, who loves him unconditionally for who and what he has become, his orders are amended: Amelia Bennett is to be terminated.

Bulletproof is the first book in Regan Black’s new Unknown Identities Series. A taunt fast-paced thriller, it brings home many of the current issues related to personal privacy and how that information can be used against us. In this case, a corrupt Senator is using personal data for his own gain. The only person able to stop him is reporter Amelia Bennett. The only person able to protect her from the Senator’s wrath is John Noble. One of the many soldiers recruited for the Unknown Identity program, Noble is assigned to protect Amelia at all costs. Together they bring down the Senator, but at what cost?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a quick read that kept things moving nicely. I can’t wait to read the next in the series as there are several unanswered questions.

First I have to say that I enjoy this book. Amelia Bennett is working on a story, which she is doing research on for the newspaper that she is working for. The more that she digs into this story; she is starting to notice that each of the people who she has talked to have turn up dead. Her boss has told her that they have hired a bodyguard for her by the name of John Noble. But John Noble has his own built in problems. If you want to read a book that has a lot of action, and romance, and suspense in it, then you have got to read this book.

BULLETPROOF REVIEW
I just finished reading Regan Black’s BULLETPROOF. It is the first book in her NEW Unknown Identities series. It was fast paced, packed with action and great characters. I enjoyed meeting Amelia and John. Their stories are compelling. Who doesn’t love a reporter who is in the business to present the facts to her readers? Who can resist a tormented alpha hero who has been forced down a path he doesn’t want to walk? Not this girl!!
Amelia is used to taking heat for the stories she writes but this one is getting really dangerous. Enter John Noble, body guard. He knows way more than he reveals but circumstances change. Her story and his life become intertwined. To protect her he is prepared to take drastic measures all the while plotting ways to escape the twisted situation in which they are caught.
As you would imagine there is series set up information spread throughout the book which leaves you ready and waiting for the next installment. Romance with an edge and paranormal elements. What’s not to love?
Bring it on Regan Black!! I can’t wait to read it!

Bullet Proof

Regan Black you have out done yourself!!! I have been on automatic pre-order for your stories since early 2010. Your Justice series world is unparalleled. Slick Mickey is still my hero. I found your switch into a little lighter read of the Matchmaker with tons of paranormal fun wonderfully appealing; but this newest has put you into another league of its own. You are truly honing your skills, getting stronger and stronger and I am so glad to have gotten this copy early so I could sit back and savior this book.

Bulletproof is the start of a hard hitting new series, clearly for a hard core paranormal addict like myself that has quick paced strong story line. The story blurb says :

A soldier is nothing without his honor.

This is a story of John Noble... John Noble is his new name and identity today for ‘the job’. John is trying ‘to get out’ to possibly try to have a real life as we watch him make a deal with the man called ‘the Messenger’ who he doesn’t trust for a moment.

This is a story of enhancement testing of chosen men who become elite soldiers , who are used to do all the dirty work and bleed for their country. Can a man like him believe in a home and a white picket fence.? ...Never till maybe now!!! John’s job if he accepts it is to keep a newspaper reporter alive and be her bodyguard. Amelia Bennett, is about to break the biggest story of her career and her life will be in danger.

Amelia is a woman’s woman living in a man's world. She is beautiful and smart and sees this story going national. She is taking on a government official that has his hands in the underworld. Her boss and owner of the newspaper The Torch, is a friend. He has ordered her to hire someone to protect herself. His fear when this story breaks is only about her safety...In this new series Regan Black shows the reader a tougher side, these new characters have flaws, and a need to make their mark. The scenery takes place on the east coast in Boston and we get a rich flavor of the secluded coastline. I warn you when you start page one you will not put it down until you see THE END.

Regan, you have taken your story and writing to another whole level. You words and descriptions are crisp and flowing. The story was exciting, fast paced and the love scenes were sexy and loving and not gratuitous. As I was reading this story, I thought I was reading another whole new author... Your voice in this story was perfect!!!

From what I read, there is another book coming out called Double Vision for this series, and I can only hope it is soon... Thank you Regan for the ARC book release!

Regan Black is an author of many talents, first she gave us the urban fantasy series Shadows of Justice set in the future, then she gave us contemporary romantic fantasy with the Matchmaker series, now she flexes her muscles and brings us the first book in her romantic suspense series Unknown Identities.

John Noble is a man with no identity who sold his soul to a shadow group doing jobs no one else would touch, for the chance of redemption. Four years after his last job, he thinks he is out of the game. But is anyone really out of the game? John gets a visit from the “messenger” telling him he needs to do one more job to be free; he is to be a bodyguard for a reporter. If he successfully completes this job and the reporter lives, he will finally have bought his redemption and be free to live his life.

Amelia Bennett works as a reporter for a small Boston publication, she is known as a straight shooter, no topic that is off limits to her. Her present story is getting too close for comfort and someone is out to silence her, permanently. Amelia is not going to be scared off by a few threats and a trashed apartment, but when her boss is adamant she either take a bodyguard or she is off the story, she agrees.

Thrown together against both their wills, John fights to keep Amelia alive and Amelia fights to get her story told, and if she gets the story on the silent and dangerous John Noble, it will be a bonus.

Regan Black knows how to tell a story; in her Shadows of Justice series she gives us a tale of shadows, enhanced soldiers and special powers. In her Matchmaker series she gives us the world of things that go bump in the night. In this new series, she shows us her dark, gritty, dangerous, sexy side. Her characters are rich and full of shadows and light, she takes us from rainy Boston to a quaint historic secluded home on the coast, all the while weaving a story rich with danger and seduction.

John Noble is a flawed man; he has scars not only on his body but on his soul. He straddles the line between good and bad and there are times when he is not sure which side he will fall on. He is tired of the game, weary of not having an identity and his secrets are many. Amelia Bennett is his opposite, she knows what is good and will fight for it, she is determined and stubborn and doesn’t know the meaning of backing down.

Ms. Black has given us a story full of suspense, action, betrayal, heat and just a tiny bit of humor. Having read all the Justice and Matchmaker series, I feel confident in saying in this story she may have just penned her best work yet.

New author for me and a new rom-suspense series, edited by rom-suspense author Debra Webb. More suspense/thriller than romance until about the 78% mark when the love interest picks up. A fast paced, intense start to a new series.

John, the Hero, nicknamed Bulletproof, has had his life hijacked by Unknown Identities (UI), a group that experimented on ex-soldiers in exchange for avoiding trumped up legal charges and/or imprisonment. John comes out of the super soldier camp with the natural ability to heal and is assigned bodyguard duty to a newspaper reporter by "The Messenger", Gabriel, the spokesperson for this shadow agency. John holds no love for Gabriel and just when he thought he was out of his commitment to this merciless group, he's manipulated into one more assignment. You just know this is going to wind up going bad from the get go. Not much detail on Gabriel, "The Messenger" and who he works for but assume more will be revealed as the series unveils. Unless I'm wrong, there's got to be a higher up who orchestrates all the baddies and their assigned duties. John's assignment is the safe keeping of an aggressive, diehard newspaper reporter, Amelia, out to get her story to expose a Senator up to no good regardless of the eminent death threat against her.

Lots of twists and turns as John/Amelia race against the clock to get her story written and to her publisher before those out to kill her can succeed in keeping her story from reaching the public. Almost want to go back and re-read to get all the details straight due to the double crossing that goes on. This was a fast read that kept my attention and had me disappointed when it was done. The story for John/Amelia ends with an HEA, and thank goodness, I was rooting for John the whole time wanting him to find the redemption he's so desperately looking for. The series continues with John/Amelia having a reoccurring role in bk 2. Lucky for me, bk 2 "Double Vision" is already out and I could keep reading. Looks like "The Messenger" has a new assignment for a new player. Now on to bk 2.

I'd rate Bulletproof 4.0-4.5 stars worth of entertaining reading.

Bulletproof gives us a new twist on the super soldier suspense tale. John Noble was given a choice, participate in an experimental program or face disgrace. He gives up his identity, is genetically enhanced, and his brutal training earns him the new name Bulletproof because he is just so darn hard to kill. He has come to a time and place in his life where he is done when he is ordered to perform one last job which will earn his ticket out. His mission; keep ambitious reporter Amelia Bennett alive. The writing of this tale was well done and very clean. The world building was great and very believable with a myriad of colorful characters. I loved John who is damaged and cranky, but for some reason I could not connect with Amelia. She is very smart and savvy, but she just annoyed me, which perhaps is personal bias towards her personality type. This is a fun read for suspense fans and would definitely suggest giving it a try. I received this book from the author with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new book.

A fast-paced thriller with lots of action and romance. When Amelia receives death threats because of a story she is writing for her newspaper her boss forces her to hire a bodyguard. As if someone trying to kill her isn't enough, she now has a super hot and hunky bodyguard she can't keep her eyes off of. I really enjoyed seeing Amelia and John come to terms with their feelings for each other while trying to stay alive. There's nothing like a little life and death situation to get you to realize your feelings. You get a few glimpses in this book about John's past but I would love to read more about it and the government experiments that made him "Bulletproof". I can see Amelia and John having many more exciting adventures together. If I ever need a bodyguard I want one just like John Noble. (I was given an ARC for an honest review by the author.)

John (is that his real name) is hired into Amelia's life, but by whom -- and THEN things get interesting. This quick but intense story draws the reader into the twists and turns of the plot, and rewards with "chemistry" warfare. Regan Black should be commended for painting such detailed images in the reader's mind, and for fully developing the plot of Bulletproof. This reader thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover.

Bulletproof - A Perfect series starter

Regan Black knows just how to set up a series so that you are captivated from the very first page and become invested in the characters and their storylines through the last page of "their" book as well as through to the closing sentences of the last book in the series. As you finish the first book and begin the second, you will realize that the main characters you now know intimately and are loath to leave behind, actually travel right along in to the next book in the series as an integral albeit somewhat peripheral teams member working towards friend status with the ultimate goal of forging the family all of them either lost or never had to begin with and allowing souls to heal and hearts to mend and life to be lived to the fullest. As you begin reading Double Vision-Book #2, you once again find yourself entranced with a strong man (or woman) and an even stronger new love interest, who together weave their tale into this series story. Their story was a lesson in learning to trust others as you trust yourself and add it's amazingly freeing to be in a better place together than where they each started out alone. Just like the characters from the first book, they too continue forward in the next series installment, adding their assistance as needed in conjunction with the next pair. This series is a swift read because you just can't put it down. There are only 6 books in the series under Regan Black's authorship but I understand some of the characters were given permission to provide an assist to other authors by being included as themselves in collaborative series similar to Unknown Identities. How fun! Enjoy this series by Regan Black as its a great read then do as I am going to do, follow these fabulous characters in their crossover stories and finding another "new to you" author you'll enjoy reading.

All it took was one bad move to ruin John Noble’s stellar military career. To gain redemption, John’s at the mercy of a group that not only moves the redemption finish line, holds onto John’s freedom tightly and added a little something they ‘forgot to tell John about but he knows and works it to his advantage.

John’s latest assignment, guard ambitious reporter Amelia Bennett until she completes her (ripped from the headlines) expose, guaranteed to knock the shine off a popular politician vs ‘every person’s personal privacy”. That’s easy enough except John was hired on Amelia behalf, all of her sources are suddenly dying plus her people are lying in wait to kill her.

A humongous bounty brings people like John are out of retirement to kill Amelia, the finish line has been moved for John one again and his handler is convinced he has John in a corner and they think they’ve got him!

All smoke and mirrors

As a reporter Amelia is used to distraction and deceit, people embellish or downplay, they forget and they try to hide, but in her latest story she not only uncovers blackmail and corruption. She uncovers secrets, secrets that cost lives and endanger her and everything she has worked for.
This twisted tale is dark and depraved, and Amelia quickly realises not everything you see is as it appears. A haunting but gripping plot, I read this book in one sitting and have downloaded the next. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Bulletproof by Reagan Black is a total page-turner — fast, intense, and full of heart. The action kicks off right away and doesn’t let up, but it’s the chemistry between the characters that really pulls you in. The hero is protective without being overbearing, and the heroine is tough, smart, and easy to root for. I loved the balance of suspense and romance, and the twists kept me on my toes the whole way through. If you’re into romantic thrillers that feel like a blockbuster in book form, this one’s definitely worth the read.

Good read

Amelia met John when she hired him to be her bodyguard. She had been getting threats and harassing emails. She was in the middle of exposing a Senator for his corrupt dealings. John showed up and saved her life several times. She fell in love with him almost right away.

Written as fiction, but it's too close to reality!

At first it's hard to tell who the bad guys are and who the good guys are. But after a while it just makes you angry that who you thought was good was really the really bad guys. Haha! John Noble appears to be a bad guy but he turns out to be a hero. And the woman he's pledged to protect, run through a harrowing escape 1 after another. And they both survive. But how they do that? You'll have to read the book and find out
