What happens when the person engineered by God to love you—can't?
Antonio is the CEO of a multi-million dollar company, but his huge house and sleek car don't matter when it comes to knowing how to love his young daughter. Every time he looks at her, all he can see is the reason his wife is dead. But when the beautiful Rayne falls into his life as his daughter's nanny he is forced out of his ice cold exterior. He finds himself falling hard for his newest employee, but Rayne doesn't want anything to do with him. It doesn't matter how handsome or ruggedly perfect his exterior is—how he treats his daughter tears at Rayne's very soul.
Antonio has to learn how to love his daughter again, while trying to convince the woman he loves to stay with him and not bolt at the first opportunity...
Listening to the voices in my head. Putting them down on paper and giving you a piece of my mind.Writing is an escape. there is a little piece of me in every charcter i create and in every moment.
His Love is about a brooding widower named Antonio who had a young daughter to care for after his wife passed away, but didn't want to have anything to do with the girl because she was too painful of a reminder of what he lost with his wife. Suffice it to say, I didn't like him. Rayne, on the other hand is a governess hired to care for Antonio's young daughter who was kept locked away and on a rigid schedule to make sure she stayed out of Antonio's sight. Rayne changed all that when she came into the picture. She brought vitality to the young Rupunzel (my nickname)and helped her blossom into a rambunctious child that she was supposed to be.
The issue that I had with the story is not in it's execution, but just with the story line in general. Antonio didn't have any redeeming qualities and yet Rayne gave herself to him even after berating him on the treatment he has towards his daughter and I'm wondering, "Why?" I'm one of those people that try to see at least one good quality in all people, but with Antonio, I got nothing until the end, but by then, it was too late. As it turns out, Rayne has issues all of her own, but that isn't revealed until the end of the story either. All throughout the story I just wanted something, something that made Antonio likeable, but until the end, I got nothing and by then it was a little too late.
I received the book in exchange for an honest review.
His Love is the story of a wealthy, handsome man name Antonio Burke who has a heart of ice when it comes to his young daughter. As noted in the books blurb, his wife died in childbirth and he can't forget or forgive that. He's hired a nanny in Rayne Matthews. Rayne is young woman who has lost everything and everyone and she needs this job and the fresh start that it can give her.
I despised the character of Antonio so terribly. I loathed him. He was a horrible, selfish individual. Honestly I don't see how any woman could have fell in love with this man. No, really. I don't see how Rayne fell in love with this a$$. It wasn't explained. The way he treats his daughter is detestable and I think cruel. The relationship between the two main characters moves along at the speed of light. They (Antonio and Rayne) bicker a couple of times and the next thing you know they're going at it. Ummm....what?? Did I miss something? Before you know it (within a week) he's confessing his love. And here lies the problem. This book jumps. It takes mighty leaps and bounds over what should have been pages of story. Things happen, like their love for one another, that make no sense. Where did these feelings come from? How the heck is she in love with this guy? Why is he suddenly in love with her? His family is just as confusing.
The Bottom Line: When I started this book I was so disgusted by this jerk that I thought there would be some great storytelling to redeem his butt somehow. I wasn't sure how she was going to pull it off, so I was very interested to see the story play itself out. Unfortunately that never happened and I was disappointed. His Love was far too rushed in my opinion. There really isn't much more to say. This book had the potential to be a good story, but I felt like a lot of it was on fast-forward. There was just too much missing. I hate to give this book such a low rating but it lacked in so many ways.
This gets one and a half stars from me.
*A review copy of this book was given to me by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. * Read more of my reviews at Romance Between the Covers
A fairly short read. Any longer and I would not have finished it. Writers need to take a reality check and stop writing impossible BS. Hero is 26 and CEO of his family's multinational corporation. In which reality? Heroine is I think twenty or perhaps twenty two, definitely no older than twenty two. Unless she is a genius who graduated college in her teens, there is no way she would have gotten a scholarship to Harvard business school. B-schools are for graduate studies not for doing your bachelors. Come on writers, a modicum of reality please. The only reason why I'm giving this book an "I like" is because at least the heroine wasn't a shrinking wall flower waiting for a man to save her.
I loved this story, it was short and intense. Just the way I love my stories.
This is Antonio and Rayne story. Two people who have experienced devastating loss in their lives. Rayne's ability to get through to Antonio and melt the ice surrounding his heart allows him to love again.
For such a small novel it was priceless hed me in tear with the heart wrenching comments from an inecent child Just devine in the eventual learning to let go of loss learnt ot trust and love again and apreciate the wonder of what you already have JUST BEAUTIFUL
This was a realistic story, and shows how you can't grieve so much that you loose yourself and take the wrong path, but even though the path was lost at first, it showed how they both bounced at first but came back stronger than before.
Okay, Still a fan of the author, even though the story was interesting, but it was to quick for them to fall in love and how quick the story foretold. I apologize but still a fan.
Great read and highly recommended! It starts with a little 4 year old girl who feels unloved and has no real interaction with her father. His wife, her mother, died and it seems he blames the child! A complicated and complex family relationship, almost to the point of being dysfunctional. In comes Rayne as a nannie for Alessandria and slowly the family begins to become whole. There is excitement, pregnancy, betrayal, men in black with guns and an overall wonderful book with warm fuzzies at the end.
This was a mix up because this was The Rebels Own and not His Love. I've read the Rebels Own before and yet I read it again Eventhough it wasn't t the story I thought I was reading. Yes, I really do love the Rebels Own and will probably read it again. Unfortunately I can't give a review for His Love because this wasn't the book, but I hope to read the book soon.
Both lead characters resolve baggage and realize falling in love heals a broken heart. For some reason, Antonio makes me think of the actor that plays Alcide on “True Blood.” Yummy!
The story about Rayne and Antonio will pull at your emotions. And it will open your eyes up about everyone have issues and that you have to make the decision on whether you deal with and do something about it or let it haunt you. Loved it.
This could have been a great story. The instant love slapped me in the face. Had the story been longer to develop the love b/w the two would have earned more stars from me. She forgave him after he accused her of giving away business secrets. He treated her cruelly and she forgave him instantly. He needed to grovel and suffer for a little while. It could have been better.
I choose a four star rating because it left me wanting more of Antonio's and Rayne's story. This love story speaks of a love that transcend race, social, culture and finance statues. A brilliantly written love story!!!
