Spineward Sectors Series Book Five: Admiral's Revenge
Fresh out of prison and with their wounds only partially healed, Vice Admiral Jason Montagne & Co. have one thing on their minds:
Revenge.
But with their beloved Lucky Clover in the hands of the real Tyrant of Cold Space, devising a plan of attack that doesn’t equate to suicide will be the tallest order in the history of the Little Admiral’s command.
Determined not to repeat the mistakes which had so dearly cost those who followed him, Jason first must determine who he really can trust before tracking down his nemesis for their final showdown. But strained relations with the Easy Haven crew, an increasingly scatter-brained Chief Engineer, and the prolonged absence of his wife, the Lady Akantha, may prove to be insurmountable obstacles for our Little Admiral.
Will the plucky Multi-Sector Patrol Fleet rise to the challenge, or will they be consumed by their Admiral’s all-consuming desire for a double-serving of revenge?
One way or another, this particular dish will be served extra cold.
Hey there guys. This is your friendly neighborhood Author, stopping by for a quick biography. As you probably guessed my name isn't Luke Sky Wachter. It is true that I'm publishing under my Son's name. As you can probably guess from that little factoid, I'm a huge Sci-fi buff, having named my son after such an iconic figure and all that.
For more information on the status of my current projects and general updates you can find me on:
I've also put up a picture of myself and the real Luke Sky as well as the rest of the fam. Hope you all like the new pictures I tried to add!
For anyone who says the name is cheesy, what can I say? It probably is and I published under it anyway, out of love for my boy. For anyone who says the name is completely unrealistic, alas I have the birth certificate to put the lie in such assertions. Sorry guys but there is at least one father out there crazy enough to actually go saddle his kid with such a name and as a result there really is a living breathing Luke Sky Wachter! He's just not me. hehehehe But some day he'll be able to look back at what his dad has done and know I was proud enough to use his name.
Excellent series has action, humor, sly hints of Dr. Who-Star Trek-Star Wars, and in this volume a secret society of female priestess who are maneuvering behind the scenes. Actually everyone is maneuvering behind the Little Admiral and Jason is getting very paranoid about this. Still he continues battling his Uncle Jean Luc, pirates, and Bugs while making feeble attempts to understand his wife who has shown up in the middle of a major space attack. Most of the players reassemble now and the end is quite good. Can't stop reading now.
Continuing the series of entertaining space opera, with a quasi-piratical Napoleonic naval fiction style. Well worth the read. Racing through the rest of the series.
I enjoyed the first 3 books, even though there's a mistake in nearly EVERY paragraph. But, they were fun. I didn't find books 4 OR 5 fun (and they had just as many mistakes). All the death and destruction with the situation always looking hopeless gave me stomach cramps. I doubt I'll be reading more of them. I want books to give me smiles, not ulcers.
To be honest, I can't understand all the great reviews. These books are written like the author is a 12 year old boy, and his friends are his beta readers.
Admiral Jason Montagne is fresh from betrayal, trial, prison, and sentence of execution. Is it any wonder that he has trust issues? Semi sentient bugs keep attacking his Lady's home world, pirates and his Uncle have taken over the Tracto system, and his fleet is scattered doing critical assignments. Will he have revenge on his Uncle? Will the pirates or bugs come out on top? I like the action, humor, and intrigue. I look forward to the next book.
I think by this time in the series I found it a little difficult to keep reading. I wasn't drawn in by the characters as much as I normally am. Couldn't finish it.
This book is entertaining. Sadly, it is desperately in need of A. a proof reader and B. an editor. One that understands grammar and sentence structure. In fact, the book actually strikes me as one written in
another language that was translated by someone only poorly familiar with English. Luke Sky Wachter's father would save his son from many humiliating and painfully embarrassing moments if he went back and spent a while repairing his books because they are technically distracting at best and at their worst they have many places that are initially incomprehensible.
Still terrible grammar but more importantly after 5 books main character, Jason Montagne, is still selfish and still terribly lacking in learning about command but only learning after the effect it happens. Does not ask what upgrades Spalding did to the dreadnought 'Armor Prince' once the exchange of staff was. He's always thinking about himself always thinking why can't things go his way all the time.
This book is back on track with a lot of crazy adventures. Sadly it seems the adventures of the protagonist's wife has been shunted in a separate book.
