WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED!?! I was expecting a really good, heartfelt pregnancy storyline, thanks to a one night stand between two fun characters, but I what I got was a complete and utter mess of immature people with their immature and nonsensical decisions. I have so much to say about this story, especially the characters that I think it's better if I do a list type review.
Backstory
Both Jenna and Jimmy had a really good backstory. Jenna was a victim of domestic abuse from her first marriage. After years of suffering under her husband's abuse, Jenna finally took a step and with the help of her parents, she divorced that bastard and moved to Beaumont. I loved that Jenna never lived in fear considering the life she has lead before, that instantly proved how strong and brave she was. She had a life of her own, didn't depend on anyone and had a very positive outlook towards life. Jenna could've been such a good character if she wouldn't have stopped with her insecurities regarding Jimmy's womanizing past after they got married. Literally everytime he was around a girl, she would doubt him for cheating or worst, thinking he would divorce her after he realized he's not fit for marriage. Her ability to stress out over little things and not enjoying the moment instantly made her annoying and irritating to me. But more on that later. Jimmy on the other hand was a very cool guy, a bit relationship phobiac, but it's understandable seeing his first wife cheated on him. I loved that he took responsibility when needed and remained fair with everyone. What I didn't like about Jimmy was that his tendency to keep things from Jenna regarding his first wife and then later on acting as if it was no big deal. Both characters made really stupid decisions in this book and collectively pushed the story down the drain. It was a mess!
Romance
As far as I could tell, there was no real romance. Jenna and Jimmy slept together during Liam and Josie's wedding, hence the pregnancy, but never really had any connection that could be termed as a beginning of romance. Even at the time the story took place, I never felt their love! Jenna was constantly worrying over Jimmy walking out on her and Jimmy was suddenly too attracted to Jenna and it didn't seem real. On top of that, their marriage was such a joke. One moment I'm reading about their vacation in Bora Bora and the next instant, they are married. Just like that, with no scene, no setting, no emotion. Did they get married on a post it note like Grey and Derek? What happened?!? The ending was okay, but honestly if the beginning didn't pull my heartstrings, I don't expect the end to that job. To sum it up: the romance was very, very disappointing!
Plotline
Pregnancy storylines, no matter how cliched or predictable are one of my favorite to read. They bring out that motherly quality of nurture and protectiveness that I'm sure every girl loves, but this is probably the only book where I didn't even care for the pregnancy And I think it mainly comes down to me disliking Jenna so much. Finding My Forever starts with Jenna discovering her pregnancy and keeping it a secret from everyone, especially the baby's father. One thing I didn't get was why Jenna made the father sound so mysterious to the readers in the beginning, it was clear from the last book that Jimmy was going to be that man, so why the unnecessary secrecy? Overall, this book was full of drama and not the kind I like to read about! Some of it included the exes, the other pregnancy, the daddy drama and just a whole bunch of annoying issues.
All in all, Finding My Forever is by far my least favorite book in this series, I didn't find anything redeemable in it. The characters were confused and in their own world. The story was messy and haywired, and I'm not even talking about the random flashbacks inserted in almost every chapter. Bottomline, I wasn't happy with this installments, but since my reading buddies somewhat enjoyed this book, I would direct you to their review where you can decide if this is for you or not (Link will be provided by the end of today. Sorry for the delay).
