Didn't really like this one too much. If I would have read this book before reading book 1, I never would have gone back to read book 1. So thank goodness I read these in order. Book 1 blew me away. Everything about that book was awesome, IMO. So maybe, after reading book 2, I'm thinking that this should never have been a series or trilogy. Let me explain...
Aside from the fact that with these characters, their chemistry just felt forced to me, in other words they didn't really have much chemistry. But back to my point, this is EXACTLY the same story as book 1. Just with different characters, different physical appearances, and a slight VERY SLIGHT, variation on the course & chain of events. But its the same story. Trust me. Even when it comes down to the dialogue & certain occurrences. Same story. And this is part of what ruined this one for me.
Like I said, the chemistry between Savitar, Kaden, Tristan & Raven is so forced here. I had a few moments where I found myself liking the males as individuals, but overall, I barely got a flutter from them. They just don't hold a candle to the 3 males in book 1, IMO.
Raven's inner monologue really bugged me too. I think it's cos not only was it the same as Allie's from book 1, in many respects, but for some reason Raven's inner monologue took center stage over the males'. I wanted more from the male POV like you get with book 1. It was more balanced in book 1. You got a lot more time in the males' heads, their emotions etc.. in book 1 alongside Allie's So it was all balanced well.
Here, it was 70% Raven & 30% her mates. The fact that she was saying so many things that I already knew, or often times she would just repeat herself, it just really irked me.
So because of all this, the hotness that was supposed to be apart of this tale, was not there at all for me.
I would not recommend this read. And if another book is coming out, I will not be reading it. I will forever recommend book 1, "Into The Dream" cos I think it's an awesome read. But it really should have been left as just a standalone novel with an HEA.. Not turned into an ongoing series or trilogy with other characters as the main focus, IMO. Especially since you get the same story. Nothing new. Nothing more. *shrugs*
Laurie Roma has always been one of my fav authors, Love the sci fi shifter themes, she's like my comfort author. *smiles*
Raven has her It together and all about her job being a female cop in a man's profession. She's strived, achieved and overcome mostly. Then fate steps in and tosses a monkey wrench in her well-adapted life.
Dropped in a world that she's hoping is just a dream, she's faced with huge beings all kinds of hot and smexy (with fangs no less), pushes Raven's cop instincts to the max, as she ducks and dodges and tries to escape.
Kaden and Tristian show that even on other worlds, men have a habit of acting like Neanderthals, and it seems Arcadia is no different so both Kadan and Tristan singlehandedly tilts Raven's world more than it already is. Raven lands in the middle of a festival being held at Kadan and Tristian (a Savitar absent brother) palace, creating chaos. Poor Raven, all she sees is giants, glowing eyes and fangs, and panic sets in.
The males acting like males and fully set Raven in panic mode because Kaden and Tristan know Raven is their and Savitar's mate. Handling the situation badly is an understatement. (though I don't think they did *giggles*) Raven has pretty much ousted both males as she tries to come to terms with her new life.
Loved it all of it, the story, the characters. I adored Silas and Lumeria, their love and banter was touching. The haven with the unmated females was a big thing, enjoyed reading it. Throw in some very hot yummy sex scenes through the story, even a bit of danger and you have a book I'd more than recommend.
When her best friend disappeared, Raven Sanchez had know idea that she had been transplanted to another planet, that is until it happens to Raven.
Kings Savitar, Kadan, and Tristan Akira have longed for a mate and when she arrives they are not quite sure what to do with her. Raven is head strong and as a cop in Chicago, she has a strong sense of justice. However Savitar, Kadan, and Tristan have ruled the kingdom in the same path as their fathers, even if some if the beliefs are antiquated. Raven has been placed in Arcadian for a reason and if the four of them can figure out how to begin their new relationship and work together, they may find they are the perfect match.
Very good second book in the series. Raven is a handful and buts heads along the way. This story was different then the first book, although some of it was similar to the first book. Look forward to the third book.
I gave this 3 stars because it was a good story. I almost only gave it 2 stars because of the dialogue.
I really can't stomach heroines that cannot speak without uttering constant, constant, constant profanity. It shows a lack of creative ability on the part of the author to portray a realistic character and realistic conversation.
What a gutter-snipe potty mouth our Raven was - I wanted to smack her almost every time she said anything. No one really, actually talks like that (I hope). Does anyone actually know any woman that always speaks like that (and can stomach being in their presence for any length of time? Of course not.)
What's worse, she cussed constantly, but not the guys... what's up with that?
I just couldn't buy into her being a 'smart', college-educated detective when she couldn't speak like one. Some profanity is ok and realistic, but THIS much - no way. Otherwise, I liked her character - and the guys were drool-worthy, nice, protective, wealthy, and have sex insatiably - all the usual romance book stuff.
Too bad a pretty good story was wrecked by the author's inability to keep from going overboard.
Wow wow wow! Simply amazing installment to the series. Major page turning, captivating, action and romance packed. This second book is even better than the first. I cannot wait until Ms. Romas next book comes out. Raven is a major badass heroine from the very beginning. All the brothers were awesome but my favorite is definitely Savitar...there's just something about him that makes him so easy to love. This whole series is a must read. Heck this author is a must read!
This author can do no wrong in my eyes. Into the ashes will NOT disappoint you, especially if you like sexy characters and great writing. Highly recommend.
well, there were things I liked, similar to the first book. I liked the way the author brings to life this alien world, and I liked the main leads, specially Raven and Savitar. but I have to admit that , unlike the first book, the way the FMc meets two of her mates left a bad taste in my mouth. Even though they apologize for what they did I was not etirely convinced. So what happened? When the FMC literally falls into the hall where two of the MMCs and many more arcadians were celebrating a festival, she obviously panics and tries to run, our two MMCs see her and recongnize her as theirs and captured her, after she puts a hell of a fight, take her to their room and force a blood bond with her and proceed to forced themselves on her... by this time she starts to feel the attraction towards them from the blood bond but she's confused and fights them. It seems the FMC suffered once a SA when she was younger and the situation brought forth the memories of that time and she started to have a panic attack. NOW, our MMCs with the help of the blood bond can see her memories and are distraught at the fact that she had gone through something like that and that their actions made her panic.... and that's my main problem, they are not thinking about how what THEY were doing was SA, but they were sad that they scared her into having a panic attack because their actions triggered her fear. And they are sad and apologize, give her the space she demands and let her take the lead on how fast or slow she wants to go, and if she decides to forgive them, and thats fine but I still think that the ONLY reason they knew she was scared and didn't want to have s*x was because they could read her mind, they weren't looking at her, they were so overcomed with their feelings that they didn't care to check if she wanted them back, and after that it just would't leave my mind, no matter how sweet and attentive they were, I couldn't stop wondering if they've done that before with another female, just thinking in satiating their lust without caring about the female wishes... After all, they have only blood bonded with our FMC, as is a lifetime commitment, and the only way they could tell they've wrong her was thanks to it... So even though there are many things I liked about this book, that left a bad taste that just couldn't be ignored while reding the rest...

I have read the original version of this book many many times it now has a new freshness but not much has changed in this book Allie’s book had more changes but what is most exciting is that we will finally be getting book #3 soon I just love this series
Why hasn't this series been extended? I have no idea. I love these books, and I have always liked the Arcadian books more than her other books. So.. Laurie Roma.. If you see this.. Please more!! *disclaimer* I have no idea who this author is but she's amazing!
I have to say, the beginning to these books are not my cup of tea but once you get past that it's very heartwarming. The males are protective but also learn how powerful their mates are. My favorite here is Silas and Savitar. Both males just leave a very powerful and fun impression. Looking forward to the next one.
this had a good story outline, started off strong. I liked a heroine who can kick ass and take names. We get an almost SA and it triggers the heroine when she meets 2 of the male leads, thats how the romance starts. Savitar was great, eventually the others redeemed themselves but in the end sadly the heroine is what ruined the story line, she wasn't that likeable and she was ott, rude, crass, foul mouthed. The writing was juvenile, extremely juvenile at times, if u took out the spicey scenes, which there were only a few, this would have been a ya book, written for 15 years olds.
A beautiful cop and badass Raven has had to work hard and overcome the misogyny that is earth and testosterone fuelled men. Then she is transported to another planet where males rule. They won't know what hit them.
After reading the first book I was so excited to read the second. This series was entirely new to me in the fact that I've never read a series like this one before. The author's imagination is amazing and so evident in this series. However even though I loved the concept of this book it was such a BUMMER when I started reading Into The Ashes (book 2) and felt like I was rereading the first book in the series (Into The Dream) all over again just with different names for the characters. EVERYTHING felt so similar, the only thing that was different was how the main females showed their new gifts from the God and Goddess.
If someone were to receive this book for free then I recommend reading it but I wouldn't go out of your way to buy this book because of how similar it is to the first one. Nothing new really happened, no major changes, the plot didn't really move forward all the much. I was surprised to see that there wasn't another book in this series because there's so many different directions the next book could go on with since nothing was really accomplished in this book.
I was agitated that Raven and Allie didn't meet up in this book. I find it surprising that when another human came to Arcadia word didn't travel to Allie and that she didn't rush over. Hell, I would've! Imagine being on another planet and finding out another human from Earth just arrived. Let alone the fact that the human that just arrived was Allie's best friend. I kept waiting and waiting for the moment when Allie and Raven run into each other and reconnect but nope didn't happen.
I mean I still liked the book and read it all the way through but this series had SO MUCH potential to be AMAZING, it's just sad that the first and second books were so similar and the fact that there's not a third book in the series (yet? not sure if they just stopped writing for this series or not) is super depressing because I really want to see the reunion of Raven and Allie and their babies being born and what not!

I like this series. Raven is a wonderful heroine. Her mates are hot alpha type men and she complements them perfectly. I like the focus on women's rights in this series.

I enjoyed the characters that Ms. Roma created here and while I am usually not a fantasy kinda girl I really enjoyed this melding of fantasy with a dash of sci-fi.
Raven is a girl who survives some trauma and instead of letting it drown her she pulls her boots on and sets about conquering life. This girl has some spunk! Events ensue where she meets up with three hulking guys with flaws. I liked that about these characters they were not all perfect and had their own insecurities. It is refreshing to know even the Alpha guys has a flaw or two.
I felt the suspense portion of the book did not pull me in as much as it could have but, overall I enjoyed this read and look forward to more in the series.
What happens when a tough-as-nails female cop finds herself in a testosterone-fueled society where women are totally objectified? They learn to treat her with respect or get their butt kicked. Laurie Roma returns to her SciFi series The Arcadians with this 2nd installment. Once again, the God and Goddess of Sun and Moon find the perfect woman to shake up this male-dominated society. While her feistyness is part of what her allure to the three ruling brothers, it is the way that she takes on her duties as queen that cements her in their hearts and the hearts of the people.
Arcadian Princes Tynan, Cael, and Ryder Dracor have been looking for the woman who will complete their souls. Born in a world with a shortage of females, they fear that day will never come. When a goddess suddenly appears, they are shocked, but know they want her as their mate. Allie wants to go home, but now that they’ve found her, they don’t want to let her go. The Arcadians is a great combination of sci-fi, magic and stemy love scenes. When Laurie Roma releases a new book I buy it. I love her style and am never disappointed.
I really love this world and the arcadians. My only complaint is that there were some rehashed lines from the first book. And while I do love a fantasy and happy ending it felt a bit too similar to the first book in the series to be five stars, plus some word for word lines repeated from the first book which actually distracted me from the story. I will read the next book in the series when it comes out but can honestly say if it is the same formula and words it would be my last.
When I saw that the next book after Allie came out, I screamed so loud that I scared my friend who was sitting right next to me... lol. Raven and her mates are definitely badasses, right along with Allie and her mates. And of course Silas and Lunaria... *sigh* I really hope there will be a third book...
Raven world is turned upside down when she is struck by lightning that transport's her to another world. She connects with three alien kings and show them that they are not as tough as they think! She will help them on their world as she acclimates to her new reality and during the course reconnect with a long-lost friend!
Very different take on ménage paranormal. It made me giggle at times. Overall it showed how powerful women can be in their own right as well as when they are in a loving ménage. I was hesitant to buy this book but now I'm stuck on the storyline & have fallen in love with these characters.
