"Solid characters, a family secret or two, and some clever writing make this the best story in the collection" - All About Romance
National Reader's Choice Award Finalist--Best Novella
Amanda wrote her first romance at the age of sixteen--a vast historical epic starring all her friends as the characters, written secretly during algebra class (and her parents wondered why math was not her strongest subject...)
She's never since used algebra, but her books have been nominated for many awards, including the RITA Award, the Romantic Times BOOKReviews Reviewers' Choice Award, the Booksellers Best, the National Readers Choice Award, and the Holt Medallion. She lives in Oklahoma with a menagerie of two cats, a Pug, and a very bossy miniature Poodle, along with far too many books.
When not writing or reading, she loves taking dance classes, collecting cheesy travel souvenirs, and watching the Food Network--even though she doesn't cook.
I'd actually have liked to see what they'd come up with for all twelve days - and what Sir Reginald would! Even though it was a novella, it might also have added interest to have Sir Reginald win at least one of the challenges.
Shame about the couple of typos, but a recommended historical read.
A very sweet short story set at Christmastime in Regency, England. A hunt for the items in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas helps the charming characters get to know one another while visiting their great aunt at her beautiful country estate.
Ok, so I liked the initial idea of a scavenger hunt and using that to decide who the heir is supposed to be – obviously, since I read the book. Thing is, I would have liked it to be a bit more complicated, a bit grander, less obvious. But I suppose that would have been novel material, not novella material. It was very sweet, however, lovely characters, great interaction between family members, dreamy romance. Definitely readable, and probably rereadable!
Nice fun and entertaining Christmas Novella. I love Amanda McCabe's work, and this one was not a disappointment. If you are looking for a nice read to cuddle up by a winter fire, this book is perfect for the activity.
A great Christmas read. I liked the fact that this story was romantic and sweet. It was a good clean historical romance. I loved the urgency setting and how the characters were created and grew. I would definitely recommend this Novel to an other reader.
A fun little story. An elderly woman gathers together some distant relatives for Chritmas. She needs to select an heir and decides on a festive scavenger hunt to help make her selection. A sweet, heartwarming story.
A novella about two people in need being set up through a romantic Christmas scavenger hunt. I don't understand the author chose to do only eight of the twelve days of Christmas though. I thought that was a weird place to stop.
