Joann Lee grew up in a small southern town; a town where she never felt like she fit in. Needing an escape, she quickly grew to love the written word. As a teenager, she was addicted to Nancy Drew novels. A lesbian cliche, but she owned every single one of those books. Now that she is much older, she still loves to read; her favorite author is the brilliant Gerri Hill.

Joann's specialty is lesbian romance. She tends to become attached to her characters and loves to get lost in the realms of fiction. Her first published novel is, Broken Star. She also has some upcoming short stories. Unbreakable, the sequel to Broken Star, releases in November 2013.

Her other interests include music, tattoos, travel, photography, concerts, New York City, and reading. Of course, writing is her favorite hobby. She would love to hear from you so feel free to leave a comment or visit her website to send an e-mail.

Is there anything that befalls womankind that doesn't appear in this series? Whew! Don't get me wrong, as much as is covered in these books, these are not thrillers. Suspense is there, but you have a confidence that it will work out. Love seems to pull the characters and reader through it all.

This second book is even better than the first, if that's possible. The characters are wonderful. I love them all. Well, that is, except the bad ones and even they are believable. This book had more the stresses of life as a rock-star and cop couple who happen to be lesbian. In this book we see the stresses of married life, fertility treatments, adoptions and so much more.

Erotica peppers the two books, but I feel it is fun and a natural part of being a couple. Spice of life, you know?

My favorite parts of the books, aside from the above fun, was the child, Calista. I fell in love with her in the last book, starting with sandcastles and that love continues into this one.

Although I have watched the reality show with Guiliana and Bill and the troubles they had with IVF treatments, I think climbing into the minds of Lynn and Alexis gave me a better appreciation of what women, couples, go through to get and stay pregnant.

That was on top of the bigoted treatment the couple had sustained in their individual lifetimes. When others can't find it in themselves to love you in spite of the fact that you don't fit their idea of what is normal and acceptable, yet all you want is love.

Gosh, I miss Lynn and Alexis! Though the author didn't leave us on a cliffhanger, there were enough threads to let us know we were not finished. I can hardly wait to read book three!

Lynn Feoras, her wife Alexis and their daughter Calista, are leading a near perfect life. Just one more thing would make their life perfect, a baby. Lynn is trying and failing to get pregnant. Unfortunately, this is the one thing for all Lynn’s money, she can’t buy.

Life is full of ups and downs for Lynn and her family. A move to New York, many doctors visits to the fertility clinic, a tour, is it any wonder Lynn is so stressed out?

Out of the blue, a blast from the past hits Lynn square on. Is she ready for it? How will it affect her and her family? More to the point, because of it, Lynn begins to question her ability to be a good parent. Will Lynn and Alexis’s relationship be strong enough to withstand all they are going through?

This is the long awaited sequel to Broken Star, which I really loved. The same characters are here once again, plus some really interesting new ones. My favorite is Morgan. You’ll see why when you read the book.

While Broken Star had a lot of intrigue and suspense, this book focuses more on the family life of Lynn and Alexis, although it does have its suspenseful moments. There are twists and turns throughout that kept me turning the pages quickly to find out how the family fared.

Joann Lee has covered the subject of IVF, relationships and family life as a whole very well. It was nice to get a bit more of Lynn’s background and see what has made her the woman she now is.

There are some steaming hot and erotic scenes too, not so many that they overshadow the actual story though. I think the balance is perfect.

There are a few typos throughout the book. But not enough to pull me out of the story, so I can easily forgive them for the price of the book.

If you like a romance that is centered around a wonderful loving family, look no further. This is it.

Last year I read Lee’s Broken Star and enjoyed the novel. In the first book, I loved the two main characters, Lynn and Alexis. The first novel had suspense, but what drew me to it was the relationship between Lynn and Alexis.

The second novel focuses even more on the couple. There is an element of suspense early on in Unbreakable, but it disappears for many pages and I forgot about it entirely. This wasn’t a disappointment since I really enjoyed learning more about the characters.

Lynn and Alexis are a sweet couple. It’s refreshing to read a novel about two people who are in love and who treat each other with respect. Their relationship isn’t perfect, but their love is always front and center. And Lee introduces another charming character, Morgan. I won’t go into too much detail, but I have a feeling many readers will fall for her.

This is a charming story about love and family. The ending made me wonder if Lee plans on writing more about the family. I hope so.
