Andrew, a loner, both by choice and by circumstance, is enamored by Tracy, the new bartender at his mother’s restaurant. After learning that Tracy has died in a terrible car accident, he is devastated. But after arriving at the restaurant to console his mother, he discovers that Tracy isn’t dead after all – in fact, she is working her shift, and no one else seems to think anything of it. While trying to make sense of the situation, Andrew begins to experience an overwhelming sense of dread: something isn’t right. He needs to decide whether to tell Tracy and risk sounding like a lunatic, or ignore what all his senses are telling him and enjoy what appears to be a second chance.
My name is Justin Mermelstein. I write stories. Lots of them. And I have for as long as I can remember. I write in a whole bunch of different flavors but tend to hover around supernatural (Lucid and Awake series), paranormal (The Committed), or suspense and thriller (Glimpse series), and almost everything I've ever published is too stubborn to stay in any one genre and tends to drift in and out of all of the above. I like to scare people a bit, sure, and I certainly enjoy messing with my reader's head, but all that comes second. Adrenaline gets the human emotion flowing, exposing it at its deepest level, and I love exploring what a person might do under dire circumstances. It brings out the best and the worst. I hope you appreciate my work. Thanks for reading.
This is one of those books that ends in cliffhanger. So its actually 1/3 of a book. I didn't really like the main character. He's a poser. So perfect its unrealistic. He also dissed an ex girlfriend for being an opiate addict (& the signs of this "addiction" were way off base!) . After bragging that he didn't feel bad about her plight, he describes a fall down drunk session he had with his buddy like its a cool thing to do.
I do understand the cliffhanger. No way would I read the second book if not for wondering what is happening with the paranormal. Since they are short books and I'm curious, I will probably download it for free.
I’m not a very good reviewer but I liked this book. A strange time in a man’s life, written simply and well. I love when people connect and this couples story had a little twist to it. *I could relate to him as I grew up in my moms restaurants too, so I know that feeling of having lots of folks looking out for you.
This book blew me away. I couldn't put it down. It was like Premonition the movie, but better. No repeats, lol. Definitely a must read! Hard off to you Mr. Mermelstein! Keep up the great work! Definitely recommended!
