Prayer changes me. When I pray consistently to God something changes within me. And it can change you too. However, sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and not take the time to pray. This book can help you form a habit of coming to God everyday in prayer.
21 Days to a New Habit of Prayer
They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. And so I have shared 21 prayers of gratitude with you to help you form a habit of prayer in your life. I have taken key truths from scripture and reworded them into prayers of gratitude. Combining prayer with God's Word is powerful. I have experienced this in my own life and now want to share it with you.
I pray that these prayers help you to overcome negativity through applying the power of prayer and God's Word to your life.

She has been ministering alongside her husband, CJ, since 1998 and her main passion is to share God's truth and the freedom in Christ she has found with others. She does this through her books, websites and speaking engagements.

Shelley's openness and vulnerability as she shares her own story of hope and healing through her books will inspire and encourage you.
One of the most readable and helpful book! Really love it because of the author's thoughts! He is interesting and make me think a lot of about the near future, about my place in the world and it's amazing! The last book impressed me so deeply was "a crossing or the drop's history" by Anatoliy Obraztsov. But the book of Hitz I even love more!
How easy it is to forget to thank our Heavenly Father for all He has given us. In a world constantly bombarded with negativity, we often forget how blessed we really are. We can easily slide into a depressive state of mind, forgetting even the simplest of things for which we need to be grateful. In "Gratitude: Overcoming Negativity Through the Power of Prayer and God's Word," author Shelley Hitz reminds us through this 21-day devotional to be grateful. Each devotional is a prayer of gratitude covering topics such as grace, new beginnings, unconditional love, the Holy Spirit, Peace and much more. It takes 21 days to create a new habit. By focusing on gratitude for those 21 days, the reader will be able to step back and view his or her world through new eyes--God's eyes. This book is scripturally sound and the prayers often read like poetry. Each prayer is followed by numerous scriptures to read, savor and pray. I hope that the author creates a paperback version. I would love to have it in that format. However, it is a wonderful resource to help you become more grateful and let go of the negativity in your life that is keeping you from becoming the best you can be for God. It was easy for me to give this book 5 stars!
Carol Round, author of "Journaling with Jesus:How to Draw Closer to God" and the companion workbook, "The 40-Day Challenge."
With pictures for each day that cause harmony to spring from the heart, Shelley Hitz creates a masterful list of much needed prayers and combines them with scriptures into a useful daily devotional. It is difficult to be depressed or unsatisfied when your heart is filled with gratitude for what you have been given by our generous God. Start the day right with a moment of thanks for the wonder provided by our creator, and develop a habit that you won't want to kick!
MY REVIEW OF 21 Days of Gratitude Challenge: Finding Freedom from Self-Pity and a Negative Attitude (A Life of Gratitude) A word to describe what I felt while reading this book is AMAZING! I stumbled across this book at a time when Life was simply meaningless to me – and when I said MEANINGLESS – I mean every word of it. I was angry with God, disgusted with life and for ONCE filled with so many things to regret. And then guess what? When I looked at the title - I said to myself: Gratitude? For what? I was even skeptical at first wondering WHY ON EARTH I SHOUUD BE GRATEFUL nonetheless I believe it was God's mercies reaching out to me such that after I closed it (as it is an ebook) and never went back to it till after 4 days later God helped me to begin the first page and on and on, truth be told – it was as if something jumped out from the title to arrest me. I opened the eBook again and I was shocked first at its simplicity and then author who was just DOWN TO EARTH! I could not just read only one at first. I quickly rushed through till DAY 10 – it was so so so so easy to read! And then took a deep breath. Closed it and continued the next day back to DAY 2. From reading the book, I found the LOST ART of just being GRATEFUL AGAIN! And the way Shelley apportioned it to 21 days is good – I know that I had read that it takes 21 days to have a habit established! It helped me to begin to be grateful for all the things around me that I had taken for granted. And amazingly the heavy clothe of heaviness that had descended on me, began to give way – and a sense of hope enveloped me. Shelley thank You for writing this book and for sharing your experience – this is a life-line you have given to many.
As I began reading "21 Prayers of Gratitude," my heart was pricked -- how often I look at the glass as half empty instead of half full. I have so much to be thankful for, and yet how often do I sit down and thank God for his provisions? This book will help you to do that, and realize, it does take time to change our thoughts and our actions. But once we see someone else do it, it encourages us. I wanted to adopt some of her ideas and become a more thankful person. Any time I can read something that encourages me in positive ways, I appreciate that, especially when we live in such a negative world that can easily discourage us and leave us deflated. Everything I have read by Shelley has always lifted me up, and this book is no exception. Even though I read this book a few weeks ago, I still feel its positive impact on my life.
I love this book, and will continue to use it daily.though I am through with the 21 days,Shelley Hitz has opened up my eyes and made me realize that a close relationship with God is the best thing any person would want. She has helped me realize what we take for granted everyday, and that God loves us,protects us,walks with us,strengthens us and basically is our everything.Am glad I have her other book,Finding Hope in The Midst of Tragedy.Which am sure I will get to finish very soon.
I think this is a great book to read to renew your mind with positive thoughts because if we want our lives to change for the better then we need to stay positive and think like God thinks and say what God says
I enjoy books of prayers if they are ones that fit me and my life. What I mean by that is that I’ve read prayer books that have too many specific statements such as prayers pertaining to spouse and children, work or church leadership, and because of this, I have problems relating to it if some of those facts do not describe my life, and these facts become distractions in the midst of the prayer. If they aren’t quite so specific—like perhaps referring to “family” instead of my spouse and children which I may or may not have —they fit me much better and my praying is distraction free.
These prayers are not so specific that they leave anyone out. I didn’t feel like I needed to rewrite them in my head. I have been trying to work on improving my gratitude for my blessings. I have so many, but it is easy to fall into a pattern of taking things for granted. These prayers reminded me of 21 different areas of my life to be thankful for, and helped me to express my gratitude to God. I highly recommend it on anyone working on their prayer life, especially anyone who wants to improve themselves spiritually to become more grateful to God, and remember to thank Him for all His blessings.
This an uplifting book. Whenever I read it I go wild and crazy and read several days worth at a time. It’s meant for reading one section a day but I can’t help myself. I’m addicted. That’s a good thing, right?
I first read his book using my Kindle Unlimited subscription. But I liked it so much I bought my own copy.
Each day has a prayer to read and then some scriptural quotes that provide reference and context. I am really impressed. You will be too. If you like his kind of thing.
Hitz has put together a helpful devotional that includes 21 prayers to overcome negativity. Each prayer has a focus: peace, hope, strength, etc. Beautiful photos accompany each prayer that is then followed by Scripture passages.
What I love about this book is that it is easy to read, but powerful. As you go day-to-day spending more time in the Word, you can feel the change. I keep this handy on my device so I can read the prayers over again to keep me focused and in the right frame of mind.
Really enjoyed 21 prayers of Gratitude. Some days what I was going through in my life the prayers was exactly what I need to get through my day.
I liked everything about this book very uplifting. I have made it a daily read every month and posted some of the prayers and Facebook and shared with some of my family and friends.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in enhancing his or her prayer life infusing your prayers with gratitude. It's terribly challenging in this time of such negativity to not let it influence one's prayer life. BUT, author Shelley Hitz offers prayers of gratitude to help guide you in refocusing. I'm going to read it again!
What a great resource to refer back to again and again during a time or month when the negativity of the world gets you down. Very uplifting with many bible quotes that reinforce gratitude and why we should practice gratitude. A definite book I know I will pick up time and again to refresh and renew.
This book helped me to start my day with prayer. I love the bible verses that are relevant to the prayer. It’s a great way to start the day with a good feeling and direction. I’m starting the book over again and looking into more in this series.
I believe a person need too express gratitude for the things they have and the people who are in their lives not focusing on their problems in their lives. Thank you for remindering me too be thankful and show gratitude too all.
