Zezelj creates Babilon to talk about the apathy of industrialisation, to make his critique on the capitalists who prosper on the corpses of the masses. Here, an over-ambitious mayor wants to build the tallest tower in the world, destroying entire blocks and demolishing small houses and neighbourhood shops in the process.

I've read "Red Riding Hood" by him and I wasn't impressed. This changes here along with his style that remains scetchy but more dynamic, having the specific detail that the other one lacked. The story is powerful and the final taste leaves you with a desire for more. I especially liked some pages that started with complete smudges and were transformed to nice drawings at the last panel, interesting development and choice of drawing style.

Check it out.

I received the Croatian edition of this book as a present from Žeželj himself and I loved it.

As I now spend my time between two places that book wasn't with me and I decided to buy this edition too as it is even more elegant than the other one. The story is without words and it can be enjoyed in French too :)

Beautiful, fantastic and with a special place in my heart. I only wish I'd still catch the live performance some day.

Narrative: ****
I'll specify that I'm calling this a "wordless 5*" because the story, while very satisfying, is too thin to satisfy what I would've liked to know about the various characters.

Visual: *****
He's something else. The way his brush moves is absolutely singular and mystifying. Even when it's over-hectic for my tastes I appreciate the skill and daring of it.
