Special Assignment is the first book written by Ashley Nemer under the pen name Niki Becker, and her first attempt at an erotic romance without a hint of paranormal, and I was totally amazed at the job she did with this book. It had a gripping storyline, lots of suspense and tonnes of saucy sex scenes to keep your toes curling!
Charlie is working as a high end call girl; she has regular clients who pay well for her services. She lives with her brother, Justin, after they fled their home town when an accident shattered their lives 10 years ago. What she didn't expect was someone from her past showing up and wanting her help with his assignment. Jake has never forgiven Katelyn for the incident that changed his life, but he must befriend her to get her to help him with his assignment. His attraction to her resurfaces and makes it a little complicated but pressure from his employer pushes him to fulfil his end of the deal.
I liked both characters; Charlie is pretty confident and has put her old life behind her. She is very good at her job and really has no issues with it at all. Jake has his own skeletons, but wants this job done so he can get out. What neither of them expected was their old feelings and complications to surface.
I must say that I was blown away by this book. Right from the Prologue I was hooked. There was a bit of mystery about it and I wanted to see how it unfolded. We are quickly introduced to Charlie and the world she lives in and the heat quickly rose in my household!! She certainly knows how to satisfy a man and make it pleasurable for herself too!! Jake soon brings the seriousness back to the story and what he needs done and I was sucked into this assignment. There were other twists thrown in that I didn’t see coming at all and I must commend the author for them!! So if you are looking for a quick read with plenty of action, suspense and raunchy lovin', you should snap this beauty up ASAP!!

What can I say but wow? I'm a bit new to the world of Erotic Suspense, but I really feel like I hit the nail on the head with what I like to read in this genre and holy cow does Ms. Becker just stole me away with this book. I have to say that I think my favorite thing is that the characters aren't perfect. At all. A lot of times you find that either the guys is perfect (with a dash of a tortured past) or the woman has no real past and one of them ends up falling flat. That is not the case with Charlie and Jake! The two have a past together that they can't get rid of and it creates amazing chemistry between them. It gives a realistic aspect to the story.
The plot had me hooked right away. It's not often that you have someone killed within the first fifty words of a book. The twists and turns weren't predictable which I liked. I found myself reading a page here and there where I could and often forgetting that I was reading on my phone instead of my e-reader. I just got sucked in. The sex was amazing, there was a nice verity of it, which helped from keeping it repetitive. I highly recommend that if you like erotica and suspense, pick this book up!

I have lots to say about this book, first this is a great fast paced read for those who love mystery with a little erotica thrown in.
First *claps hands together and rubs quickly* let's get to Jake.
Jake, sweet sweet Jake. You need a quick swift kick in the balls, I will never understand why tolerating a man's behavior is hot, but man this kid needs a quick swift kick. Seriously.
Yeah yeah he grows on you and you start to understand him in the end, but man if I did not value my kindle so much it would have been tossed across the room. Ugh.
Which bring me to two my second point of why this book earned 5 stars. I think it is a the sign of a great author when such strong emotion is brought up over a characters. And let me tell you my feelings were strong about him.
I didn't like him. Sorry ladies I didn't. I know most will but ugh he sickens me. I don't care if he had a tough up bringing.
I did however love Charlie & Justin. I loved everything about them. They are a strong characters that have had a tough life too, but they don't act like sleezeballs like Jake.
Can you tell I don't like Jake? lol
That being said, the sex is steamy, the mystery is great in this book, and there was even a few minutes that I sat back and said hmmm didn't see that coming.
If you are in a need a short saucy read, then never fear make it your Special Assignment to read Special Assignment.

Jake has never forgiven Katelyn for the accident that changed his life, but an assignment that can’t be completed without Katelyn’s help has put them in close proximity. Sparks fly when their simmering attraction resurfaces and complicates their purpose.
"Special Assignment" is a second-chance novel with an original story line. This interesting tale pulls the reader in from the very beginning with the prologue. The chapter-to-chapter change of view slows down the flow, however, as one needs to consistently read the title in order to ascertain whose point of view is being told. A few editing issues along with the improbability of reconciliation, considering the degree of hatred between the protagonists, take away from the enjoyment of the read. What this story does have, however, is plenty of action, suspense, and steamy sex scenes to satisfy a lover of erotic, romantic suspense despite the few issues. With a little tweaking of the story and a fix to the editing issues, this novel has the potential to be a great read!

Special Assignment is a darkly alluring mystery with strong and deceptive characters that peak your interest from the beginning. Charlie is tormented by her past while trying to maintain a me against the world attitude. She pulls this off while still having a heart underneath it all. At times her story feels like it lacks some credibility however this does not completely take away from being her interesting. Jake is a hate him or love him type of guy. Real, raw and hot. Forgiveness does not seem to be in his plan but his attraction to Charlie and their past history opens up old wounds and some things better left forgotten that are a pretty strong aphrodisiac for a guy like Jake. Their connection is powerful and certainly a powerful force in this story. 3.5 stars I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

One sizzling suspenseful read! I really enjoyed this book by Niki Becker. It started off with a bang, or should I say sizzle, right from the opening sex scene and kept up with fast paced action, an interesting plot and great characters. A mix of politics, hot sex, and less than perfect real life domestic issues from Charlie and her brother Justin's not so distant past, this book delivers in spades. I liked Charlie, the heroine, right from the start. She's a no nonsense character who remains sympathetic through her challenges of her job (hooker), her loyalty to her client, and her love from years gone by. Jake (the love from her past) reappears into her life and nothing will ever be the same for Charlie. Red hot from start to finish, a dynamite read.
