The year is 3001, and history takes a critical turn when Earth is destroyed by a solar flare. As Dr. Leigh Lybrand and her colleagues explore ways to survive in orbit of Jupiter, dark matter rips open the fabric of space and time, allowing them to see parallel universes. When the visions reveal that a radical religious group planned Earth’s destruction, Leigh must make a choice: Accept her fate or use what she’s learned to save humanity; even if it means betraying the one closest to her in a parallel universe and sacrificing herself in this one.

I was given this book in exchange for a review. I refuse to read up on a book prior to my reading. I like to formulate my own unbiased opinion. Plus, in my own twisted world...my opinion is the only one that matters. Either I'll like it or love it.
Splinter is a futuristic story of us building colonies on other planets or moons. Earth is over populated. A weird religion is taking over to save the world. It's up to Dr. Leigh Lynrand to save us.
First, I didn't feel myself into the book at first. By the time the shuttle takes off, I'm engrossed. I couldn't put it down. I even had a weird dream about black matter taking over stuff in my life.
Second, the religion in this book reminded me, somewhat, of Scientology. Just because of the craziness that surrounds it.
Third, I want a rewind ability in my life at times!
In all, it's a fast read. Fairly short. Excellent writing. Captivating scenario. I truly enjoyed this story. The thought of living on another planet fascinates me.
