The quicker Special Agent Christina Sandoval brings a serial killer to justice, the sooner she can get back to her daughter. Reason enough for the FBI to send her a partner—who also happens to be her ex-fiancé, Eric Brody.

While Eric's own kidnapping as a child has left him with a sense of justice that never failed, his relationship with Christina had. Now the deeper they dig into the current case, the more personal things get. Trying to capture an elusive killer who seems to know more about Christina than Brody ever did, they'll both need to stop holding back. Or fall victim to this private war, waged without boundaries…

This author can write well, but I don't like her characters. I hated that the heroine had a secret baby, obviously had no intention of telling the hero, delays telling him to the point that only a phone call outs her, and then acts like the two of them should be off playing happy families together after her secret is out. What an unpleasant woman. The book ends with her promising not to lie to the hero again, but if I were him I wouldn't trust that. I don't see this as a HEA, the heroine will probably have an affair in a few years and then lie about that and expect to be completely forgiven when it comes out.

Spoilers ahead

The District by Carol Ericoson is book 2 in the Brody Law series. Set in San Francisco. FBI agents Eric Brody and Christina Sandoval are trying to capture a serial killer that involves witchcraft. I thought the plot was fast moving, but Christina waited way too long to tell Eric she had hi baby. Kendall is 2! I did believe their connection and attraction, but the secret baby was a distraction in an otherwise great plot. I do look forward to the other books in this series.

The Brody Mini Series is Spectacular in a mini series. Hard as nails in the way that life has delt them as they tried to understand why their Police Detective had jumped off of the Golden Gate Bridge and why the Upper Crust of the Police Force thought he was a Serial Killer. Intrusions from the Past

Eric Brody and Christina Sandoval share a past. Complications arise when they are reunited to solve a string of murders. The action is intense. Both Eric and Christina have a past which complicates the murder case they are trying to solve. Reading the first book in the series, The Bridge, makes this story better.

Author Carol Ericson's compelling "Brody Law" series continues with Book 2, "The District". San Francisco is the atmospheric setting for this intriguing romantic suspense tale which blends factual crime scene investigative procedures with paranormal psychic intuitions. Two FBI agents with an intense personal history are reunited to track down a heinous serial killer. Christina Sandoval never expected to be partnered with her former fiance, Eric Brody. The two of them both worked for the FBI, but in different divisions. Now, brought together on a complex case with personal ties to them both, passions and emotions are running high. Christina's family legacy of witchcraft and psychic abilities is intertwined with tragedies from Eric's own past. His father, a policeman working on a serial killer case, had apparently taken his own life after being accused of the crimes. Eric, just twelve at the time, had been kidnapped and emotionally traumatized by all that had occurred. When Eric and Christina had been previously involved, events took place which made it look as though Christina had become intimate with Eric to gain information about his father for an explosive tell-all book. Eric had broken up with her and fled to whereabouts unknown--all without knowing that she was carrying his child. Now that they are back in each other's close company, the truth will have to come out. Christina can clear her name with Eric, and he will learn that he is the father of a beautiful young daughter. Will clearing the air clear the way for a happy future together? When threats to their safety hit all too close to home, will their powerful combination of passion and professionalism be stronger than the evil around them? Another top-notch romantic suspense tale from author Carol Ericson.

Once again a serial killer has hit the San Francisco area and a Brody is involved! This time it's Eric Brody who is getting the call to be on the case and he doesn't like the fact that his kidnapping as a child seems to be known to the killer. This FBI agent doesn't want to go back to that time again. He also doesn't want to be paired with his ex-fiancee, Christina Sandoval, as his partner on this case. Why her? They have dead bodies in different states but the same MO and they don't like it! Christina can see that this case is going to become personal as some secrets are becoming to come out about her family. She is the daughter of a powerful brujo and has been trying to hide all these "feelings" she gets about people herself. The killer seems to know an awful lot about her and when her daughter gets kidnapped, she and Eric race against time to stop him before it's too late! Carol continues to write fast-paced romantic suspense that makes you want to keep reading the book and not put it down!

This is book two of the Brody Law series. (as usual I'm not reading them in order). This book involves two FBI agents who were engaged two years earlier and broke up. Now they are thrown together to find a serial killer. The Brodys have a past dealing with serial killers, as each book in the series keeps reminding the reader. In this book Eric Brody is the lead male. His ex is Christina Sandoval. Her and her family are into witchcraft. The serial killer is going after the coven that Christina's family is in. The suspense is good, the action is usually fast, most of the story is believable. My problem comes in with Christina has a two year old child and Eric is the father. Of course Eric doesn't know about the child. She waits a long time once they start to work together to tell him about his daughter.

In Ericson’s romantic intrigue novel, Special Agent Christina Sandoval is focused on finding a serial killer; the sooner the better because now her ex-fiancé, Eric Brody, has been brought in to assist her. Their union ended painfully and this will be the first time they’ve seen each other since that parting. Waiting at home for Christina is a daughter she loves more than life itself and she is determined to get back to her.

As a child, Eric had been kidnapped and while he was found, the incident haunts him to this day driving him to find justice on each case. As the pair team up and dig deeper, secrets are revealed and an elusive killer becomes determined to end them both.

A fast-paced, hard-to-put down addition to the Brody Law series.

The second Brody Law book delivers a great story about Brujos, witch craft and the seedier side of San Francisco. Christina Sandoval is an agent sent to solve the Phone Book Killings. Little does she realize at first how personal it will become to her. The FBI sends in Eric Brody to assist and little does he know that the killings are tied to his own tragic past. Throw in the fact that Christina and Eric were once engaged and their pasts actually tore them apart and you have all the right ingredients for a great story.

I thought the action was quick paced, but sometimes felt that the story of Christina and Eric dragged a bit. However, since I'm more of an action girl than a romance reader, I enjoyed the story a lot and would recommend it to my friends.

I usually adore Ericson's novels. The District storyline is great, the writing is the same superb quality I expect. The mystery is edge of
Your seat, page turning excitement. The heroine...someone told me once your characters can so anything as long as they're motivated. This heroine's secret that stretches over most of the book made me dislike her and cast a pall over the story. I wish that hadn't been the main conflict. If the secret had been revealed early I think I would have enjoyed the book immensely. Strange because this is usually one of my favorite tropes. In The District readers will get another of Ericson's quality suspense novels. Judging by other reviews most people don't mind the heroine's secret. (Written on my phone. Hope it translates.)

"The Brody boys are back and in the middle of a serial killing that raises eerie links to a case their father investigated. Ericson’s series gets a bit weirder in this entry as she weaves in psychosis and occult elements (RT Book Reviews)". 4 stars

I loved this book and so far all the books in this series. Just love to revisit the big city by way of books if I can't make it there myself.
