Impulse: After her aunts death Rebbecca, time for a life chance. Sells everything and catches her first plane and goes overseas. Wow what a difference, but how she tell the man she met that she isn't what he thinks she is. Never expected to get close to him
Lessons Learned: Publisher meets the author of a cookbook. Managing his tour in US. But could it turn to something more?

Omg I haven’t read a Nora Robert’s book since 1989. Sadly back then I didn’t realize how awful these types of books were. Full of misogynistic attitudes. I understand now why we women who grew up in the 80s may have allowed such abuse by men because we were reading it in the 1980s. We normalized emotional abuse and even physical violence as healthy and passionate relationships. Looking for the strong man to forcefully take what belonged to him. Garbage. No knight in shining armour in this book. Just assholes who grab women by the throat to kiss them and basically are predators. So sad another woman wrote like this but it was the time unfortunately.

The first story was so-so. I have never taken so long to read such a short story. I was disappointed, especially by the ending.

I started reading the second one, "Lessons Learned". I was a few pages in when I realised that I had already read it almost a year ago in another Nora Roberts novel, "Table For Two", so I did not bother to continue.

Whenever I need a quick, easy, mindless, get your feels read, I pick up one of Nora Roberts. I was craving a read throughout the week, suck me in and finish early, guilty pleasure read and I found this set of stories wanting. "Impulse" had characters that went undeveloped throughout its seemingly plotless and short story. "Lessons Learned" developed characters and had a bit of a story line, but I found it too cheesy and difficult to connect with. I was not impressed with this set.

The first book in the set was pretty bad- no plot or characterization building - I'd give it one star. But the second book was great - definitely worth five stars. Warning: you may be hungry for Italian cuisine reading the second half.

I liked both stories good enough. They were the typical older Nora Roberts novels. You get romance with a little bit more. I like being able to pick up her old stories whenever I want since they republish them. Good stories for ages :-)
