Retells the Bible story of the events of Holy Week and the Easter season, from the raising of Lazarus to Jesus's appearances to His disciples that proved to them that He was not dead but alive.

For me, this is not a book I would use as a read aloud for children, and in my line of work, I do a LOT of read alouds! It is more suited to older children who I envision reading it on their own. For me, I will simply read the Bible.
I thought this was a pretty good book to read to my boys (ages 8 and 4) at Easter time. It might be a little "wordy" for my younger one but he sat and listened through all of it.
The stories are: Jesus raising Lazarus from his death, Jesus going to the temple and turning over the tables of the money changers, Judas asking for money to betray Jesus, praying in the garden, Judas betraying Jesus, Jesus' trial, Peter denying Jesus, the people wanting Jesus crucified, the soldiers mocking Him, nailing Him to the cross, the time Jesus dies, the Roman guards at the tomb and the angel appearing to them, the Resurrection and Jesus' appearance to his disciples.
This is absolutely the most accurate and well-written book about Passion Week that I've read. It is a wonderful opportunity to share the real meaning of Easter. Each event of the week is shared in a short 1-page story with a beautiful illustration to go with it. It's a reminder that we must believe that Jesus is alive today; because He lives, we have a choice to believe in His resurrection so that we also may live.
And, how interesting that I finished this on March 21 -- the day we celebrate Easter is the 1st Sunday after the first full moon after March 21.
