Redemption Tales #3

Redeeming Grace

Rate this book
The past has caught up to Grace and the Preacher. For Grace in the woman she worked for in New York. For Nathan in the arrival of his judgemental father. Rumors and gossip threaten to destroy Nathan’s position as pastor before it’s even really begun. Twisting the truth, Grace’s singing career becomes the focus of self-righteous church members. Nathan’s father not only disapproves of Grace but also Nathan’s dual occupations of US Marshal and Preacher. Add one determined gunslinger out to take The Preacher’s reputation and a deputy who is overcome by guilt and loss. It will take a heavy dose of God’s grace to survive. What do you do when your past threatens your future? When people forget what God’s forgiveness is all about? How, as pastor, will Nathan get them to see what should be obvious? Is there anything that isn’t covered by Redeeming Grace?

George McVey is a Pastor that grew up in a Christian home. He prayed a prayer of Salvation at the tender age of six and continued in church until his teens. At around age sixteen George became disillusioned with what he saw in church and Christians and began looking for something else. Like so often happens in that situation, he was introduced to the occult and spent the next two years as a practicing Satanist. In his late twenties George returned to the faith of his childhood and soon there after felt the call of God on his life to reach out to young people like he had been. In 1995 George began working as a youth minister and did that for the next five years.
As a youth pastor he has written several youth devotionals and lessons for himself and other part time and volunteer youth pastors as well as two complete youth retreats. He always printed them himself for the retreat members but always dreamed of publishing.
He was ordained in 2000 and became a senior pastor/ church planter in 2001. In 2007 George went from senior pastor to revivalist pastor with an emphasis on spiritual warfare and particularly on prayer walking a community to see spiritual breakthrough and renewal.
In late 2009 Georges ministry focus had shifted to prayer walking and revival coupled with prayer walking. George has taught on the subject many times and led countless prayer walks, and he kept hearing people tell him they would love to have his information in print so In 2010 God moved PG to begin to write. He has written several Bible studies and short stories. His first two books are non-fiction Bible studies. One day he woke up with several characters in his head trying to tell him their stories. He began writing them down.

" Redeeming Grace " By George McVey is another 5 star book.

"Redeeming Grace" is the third book in the Redemption Tales by George McVey and I have enjoyed all three and looking forward to the next one in the series!

Nathan Ryder in a sermon tells the congregation " Are you aware that God has the right to change our lives without us complaining about it! I am; it's why I continue to wear this badge and to preach the Gospel. Yes, Nathan Ryder is an unusual preacher, one that carries guns and shots his mark every time but he is also a preacher who shows mercy and follows God.

In this book Nathan and Timothy are still hunting for Diamond Dale but a new outlaw comes to town and makes more trouble for Nathan. As if that isn't enough trouble for Nathan, his own father is adding to the trouble and has a secret he isn't telling to Nathan. There is also a lady from Grace's past who stirs up trouble and Nathan is force to make a choice! Did he make the right one, only time will tell.

I was surprised at some of the twists this story took but I am can't say I am really disappointed with the ending, it just took me by surprise, and left me with questions. Which is the reason I think I like this series and want to read the next one because it is like a cliff hanger in the movies, we cannot help but want to see what happens next!

I think everyone should read this series even if they don't like Christian fiction and/or westerns. Anyone that like Christian fiction and/or westerns would enjoy reading Nathan's story.
You should give yourself a treat and escape into the West for a while.

I was given a pdf file by the author for my honest review!

This book is the best of the three in the Redemption Tales series. I miss New Mexico, and I'm growing partial to westerns because of this series [and Zane Grey, of course]. I'm sad I got a pre-release copy with a lot of production flaws, but I must assume they're ironed out by now. But then that is what you often get along with the opportunity for a review copy. After the first two books in the series, I was eager to read this one, and I was NOT disappointed.

Nathan is a preacher/marshall/gunslinger

Yup, he is. More than that he's a believable believer with a real heart for the Lord. His wife, Grace, is a fitting mate, a joy to behold, and wise beyond her years.

This is a fun read. I don't want to spoil it for you. There are many twists, setbacks, and severe danger from within the church. His conflict with his father had me thinking homicidal thoughts.

This is a man the Lord uses who is a true inspiration. I wish he was my friend.

Other than that, don't miss this series. Start with Redeeming Reputation, then move on to Redeeming Trail, you'll be pleased you did.

The Redemption Tales are the real deal

Fun, exciting, edifying, and a joy to read. It's hard to wait for the next one.

Times of testing come to everyone, and now it is Grace and Nathan Ryder's time. Nathan's parents have arrived in Redemption. David Ryder begins questioning everything about Nathan's life. How can Nathan be a Pastor, U.S.Marshal and a gunslinger? David also questions Nathan's choice in a wife, Grace. But there are secrets in David's life also.
To complicate matters Strawberry Fields wants to face Nathan and prove who is the better gunslinger. Big Bertha, a woman with connections to Nathan's family in the past arrives in town to set up a Brothel. The Deacons want answers. How much more can Nathan handle?
I love George McVey's tales of Redemption and recommend them to anyone who wants to read good clean westerns.

Another fantastic story by Rev. McVey! It is fantastic how he weaves fictional characters from old TV shows or books and makes them 'real.' This is a story of overcoming bitterness, or at least trying to, understanding God's calling, and trying to bring justice and mercy to Redemption, New Mexico.

Remember this passage, it plays an important part in this and several of the remaining books. "If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town. I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town." Matthew 10:14-15 (NIV, 2004)

Love, love, love this story.

Great read

I enjoyed this book very much. I love how it was not only entertaining, but contained several good sermons and life lessons. I also like how the author not only incorporates famous people from the past and even a few characters from TV westerns.

Characters - Fantastic
Flow - Wonderful
Plot - Awesome

Amazing book from a favorite author. How he can write about a woman's thoughts is simply...impossible, but he does it.

Loved it. Cliffhanger, almost like the old movie serials I grew up on in the 1940s. As fast as Nathan gets one problem cleared, another crops up. But, the books are well written and keep me turning the pages.

The third book in the series is the best one so far! I loved it.How do you know if you are in God's will we people are trying to tell you what you should be doing? The Preacher faces these challenges. You will learn more about his family too. Great series. Looking forward to the next book.

I enjoyed the ongoing growth of Nathan and Grace, although the story was much slower and not as action packed. I am looking forward to book #4 to see if it will pick up on adventure and heroism.
