Very engaging book- several real life dramas all overlapping, but that's what life is really like. Carly doesn't want to get hurt again, Parker is stuck in feeling bad over what happened in the past that wasn't his fault, a teen mom, another mother in an abusive relationship... eventually we all have to move past where we are to get where we are going- read and see how that happens for the characters in this book. I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.

A story of perseverance and as the title indicates, overcoming.

Being the 3rd book in the series, the story now follows Cambrooke teenager, Carly Ley, and her struggle dealing with a deep and tragic loss as she faces new challenges, meets new people, encounters unbelievably difficult times and finally begins to open her heart and her mind.

Be prepared for an incredible amount of hard blows which keep hitting the main characters in this story time after time. This journey follows teenage characters dealing with adult issues and some poor behavior choices that sadly plague many parts of our culture today. As the reader, I found myself beginning to feel bogged down and worn out from the constant stream of bad luck that kept attacking. However, this only helped me connect with the characters as I could only imagine how hard it would be to truly cope with these scenarios and find that light at the end of the tunnel.

I appreciate how the main characters from the previous books in the series continue to make appearances, keeping the Cambrooke community alive and moving forward.

Keep in mind during reading that this book is based on very real life events. Real life isn’t always pretty. Even though this book points its readers to Jesus, the characters battle many sins and endure many hardships most of us will face within our lives at one point or another such as: single parenthood, death, teenage parenthood, betrayal, premarital sex, child neglect/abandonment, hopelessness, child/spouse battering, feeling casted out and hot-tempered actions. Even though life can be overwhelmingly heavy, the author does a great job showing us we can overcome through Jesus.

Due to profanity and sexual content, I recommend this for readers ages 16+.

I cant even begin to tell you how much I absolutely LOVED this book its a beautifully written, inspirational story that deals with real life problems. One of the things I like most about Emily Camps books is the the fact that people can relate to her characters, the things they are going though and learning to heal and overcome obstacles in life. Emily Camp has done a phenomenal job in writing this book and I cant wait to see what she writes next.

I love following these characters through their trials. It was Carly's turn this time and Camp introduced a new character, with ties to some of the others. Great plot twists! As always, the characters are so well-drawn, they think and act just like regular teens. It's so easy to get lost in Camp's books! Love them. : )

This is an amazing book about young adults learning how to manage friendships and deal with family drama! Carly and Parker both suffered great loss and hardships, they both learned how to have faith and trust! This book made me smile, laugh, feel heartbroken and cry! A great inspirational read!

This is one of those great rainy day books! The characters are easily likeable and it has a great flow. I found the plot original and had a nice flow between chapters. It's not a typical boy meets girl, drama, drama, the end. This book has good subplots, no over the top sex scenes which seems to be dominating romance novels at the moment and has definitely left me wanting to read more from this author.

This is the 3rd book in the series but the first I have read and is easy to read as a stand alone.

It does have a slight Christian overtone which I kind of found confusing. I liked its inclusion but feel it could have had a stronger message. I kind of feel like some of this may have been cut from the book. I would have liked to see Carly and Parker separately been challenged and found their faith in the end? Especially as they both were coping with death and grief.

But overall a great book. Can't wait to read Bree and Garrett's story!

The third book in the Cambrooke Series, it turned out to be my favorite of the three. In this story, Camp steps out a bit from the uncensored world of teenagers and their wild living when unsupervised, as opposed to books #1 and #2. She shows her skill as a writer who understands matters of the heart and portrays them beautifully and in a manner that works for the theme of the book.
Overcome is a story full of love, hope, faith, pain/sorrow, and redemption—each carefully knitted into the plot in just the right dose so that the reader is enthralled from start to finish. Though YA, there’s a maturity to this storytelling that makes it endearing to even adult readers that might be inclined to pay attention.

I really liked this book. I had never read a book by Emily Camp before but am really looking forward to reading more from her. What I enjoyed most about this story was the realistic situations the characters found themselves in. And this was not only about Carly and Parker but all the other characters were intermingled as well with sub plots; it kept my brain waves constantly working. Can I please ask for a spin off of Carly's mom and Judd's relationship? Would really like to know what was going on between them.
