This book is illegally cute, y'all!

Do not let the blurb scare you! This is good, fluffy FUN.

I give it my no-angst-for-miles guarantee.

I loved the sweetness and snarky humour. I loved Urban's narrative voice.

And I was gaga over Urban's love interest, he of the Monster Truck T-shirts and purple spikey hair.

"I said," he was leaning close to my ear. "I don't think I've ever seen you this horny before. I like it, maybe I should hold out on you more often."

I gasped in alarm . . . .

"When you say 'hold out' like that, it makes you sound like you are a drug dealer or something . . . a purple-haired, antisex, drug dealing hedgehog! Is that really who you want to be?"

5 Stars!

Kyle Adams doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the talented author that he is. He has a flair for writing unique quirky upbeat romances, and while some of his stories are funnier than others, the end result has readers believing in ever-lasting love. He proved himself once again in New Beginnings, he doesn’t just put words on paper, he skillfully crafts them into a story that makes the reader feel…and smile…lots of smiling!

New beginnings follow an ending.

Urban thought his current path was never-ending, but life has a way of taking you by surprise.

Not all surprises are welcomed.

I’m not really sure what I expected, but let me tell you…this wasn’t it. I think Urban knows how I feel.

He wasn’t just thrown for a loop, he was tossed into a spinning carnival ride; you know the one with the sole purpose to make you throw up? His darling boyfriend, Tyson, knocks his world off the blissful axis it was spinning on and he finds himself utterly lost. Flailing and devastated. How could things be so right and then turn so terribly wrong? What did he miss? Did he piss off Karma and this is finally payback? How could he be so happy…and so blind?

Countless questions bombard Urban as he attempts to put the pieces of his formerly happily-ever-after back together. After eight years with his boyfriend he thought this was…it. They bought a house together, they built a life together, and they fit perfectly together. But you can’t stop someone else from putting the brakes on a relationship and if ‘space’ was what Tyson needed, space is what he’d get. But he sure as hell doesn’t have to be happy about it. Actually, he might even get bitchy about it.

And just when you are about to boil from stewing in your angry juices, you’ll get another surprise.

Ohhhh?!

That’s what was supposed to happen? Huh, that backfired now didn’t it? Poor lambs. Everything is such a mess. However will Tyson fix it?

Hmmmmm, I’m not telling. You gotta read it to find out.

Mr. Adams humor vibrates through the pages and yet another surprise…this story had more sweet than kink. Not to say a couple of dirty scenes didn’t make the final cut. They wouldn’t be his distinctive boys if they didn’t get a little bit dirty, right? ;)

I loved it!

It was fresh, it was real, and a little bit naughty but a whole lotta nice.

Okay, so I really thought this was going to be the annoying kind of love story with an ex. My emotion was like,

then thank God because

I'm not gonna spoil anything but I'm gonna say that I think I wanted it to be longer but I can still say that the length of this novella is already perfect. The pace of the story too is really great. The writing was filled with so much emotions, humours, and thoughts. This one really hit me. Maybe it was just what I needed to read at the right time but this is a 5 stars worthy book to me.

Overall, a perfect read for me.

Sweetness overload!! OMG this was just so freaking sweet. I didn't like the setup and was glad that was resolved pretty quick. Aside from that it was a very fun and yes, very sweet story. I smiled, a lot.

Urban and Tyson have been together eight years, which gives them an advantage in the figuring-things-out-before-they-go-too-far department.

”Will you, Urban Sinclair, go out with me tomorrow?”

“No,” I said firmly. He looked crestfallen, and I quickly added, “What did you expect me to say, Tyson? You said you were going to woo me, and I don’t feel wooed at all.”

See? Problem solved.

Woo. I love that word. And doofus. That’s a great one, too. Doofus. Tyson attempts to do the former while acting like a total of the latter.

There are small issues in structure and a few repetitious words and passages, but they felt minor to me and definitely didn’t greatly impact my giggling and snorting and awwwww’ing and oh yes, so true’ing.

As with any of other of Adams’s stories, there are great one-liners and comedic comebacks. Beyond that, they fit the characters and tell us more about them. It feels natural, not forced. My highlighter saw healthy use with this’n.

We both agreed long ago that we would only ever have a threesome if it were with Gerard [Butler]. That pretty much means we’d never have a threesome, which was more than okay with me. It was nice having that door open in case Gerard ever came knocking.

If I were forced to use only one sentence to describe this story, it would be: A funny, sweet, romantic, and honest portrayal of two happy people in a real and loving relationship.

Thankfully, I don’t have to do that, especially since I have a couple of more things to say, like I enjoyed the hell out of this story.

They work hard at fixing the issues between them.

Oh and, listen, any story that includes toilet seat liners sticking to one’s butt, well, that’s an automatic winner in my own tome.

Oh, one more. This is sexy and yummy, and Urban and Tyson are wonderful characters. They’re people that I know.

Everyone needs some Kyle Adams stories in their lives. :)

On one hand, this is your classic Kyle Adams story. There's the humor the readers have grown to expect and the hot-as-hell sex scenes. On the other hand, this is a bit more serious in places than some of the other Kyle Adams stories. I'm not going to give the story away, but I will say that not everything is how it appears early on. You'll have to read the story to see what I mean.

Very entertaining read. I wasn't a fan of Tyson early on, but he definitely redeemed himself as the story played out.

Re-read: not as lovely as I remembered. Tyson was not "thought you'd appreciate some time on your own", he was acting like a break up. Pissed me off too much this time.
Let’s put it out there – you have to get past the asshattery that is Tyson in the beginning of this story. I honestly hated his actions when the story started and I was hoping that Urban was going to end up with someone else. But I stuck with it and what I ended up with was a sweet romantic story of an established couple.

As I made comments reading the story, the ones on Tyson are not in any way complimentary, running along the lines of “Leave, Urban!” It is getting past this part, along with Tyson’s admission that maybe part of his plan wasn’t the greatest idea, that helped redeem him, although I still think he wasn’t thinking one bit about the ramifications.

Tyson has come up with an idea that backfires some and then runs full steam ahead. It’s like a trip back in time for this couple as they make their new beginnings. For his part, Urban loves his boyfriend, is devastated, angry and confused; then goes along with what is happening. New beginnings indeed.

On two random notes, I need an explanation – why can’t you drive a monster truck if your dick is big? Second, just a gush to say I absolutely love that Urban sleeps in pink unicorn sleep pants and a matching unicorn top and that Tyson can rock purple hair!

Sure, this was sweet and fluffy (after the initial misunderstanding).

Honestly though, I just never quite got over the complete mind fuck of the first part.

Worse, while there was some humor, I felt it missed the amount of humor I usually expect from a Kyle Adams story.

I do believe this just may be my new favorite Kyle Adam's book.

Loved the way the story unfolded and the surprise factor that kept me guessing what was really going on. I completely felt all of Urban's emotions and believe I would have reacted the exact same way.

Not your typical Kyle Adam's story but it didn't matter, I still loved it.

Close to DNF. It was sweet and all, but I believe the following should speak for themselves:

"I would become instantly addicted to his love-cream"

"Even if it didn't leak pre-jizz like a broken water main, it was big and completely satisfying. I would probably start coughing if it really dripped that much anyway. I'd feel like I was drowning in man-milk."

"he could smack my cheek with his hard, wet cock and mark me with a mushroom stamp."

And I'd also like to add that the narrator mentions 4-5 times about how his boyfriend rarely has pre-come. Why do we need to know that repeatedly? Sorry, shakes head, but no.

Keeping old relationships feeling new and young. This was.. the beginning I really didn't like. I was thinking.. where is this going with the I need space situation popping up. But I gave it enough time to redeem itself. This is more along the lines of romantic than super sexy.

The biggest problem for me was having trouble reconciling the feelings towards Tyson from the beginning to fully feeling comfortable with his romantic overtures. But not a bad story.

When Urban gets his world completely flipped upside just days before his birthday, the story starts out going in one direction, but shifts quickly as we see exactly what Tyler was thinking. And, maybe not the most well thought out thought process all the way around.

There is not much then that can be further said about the plot as it would open up all kinds of spoilers. Urban is quirky, witty, and sarcastic, and knows exactly how to play off of Tyler. There is relationship tension and sexual tension all rolled together for this established couple. There is humor, banter, one liners, Finding Nemo sleep pants, and there is also a public restroom (I will allow you to decide if that is a preferred venue). There are a few editing issues with flower “peddles” being used and a few random typos.

The story is ultimately light, featuring love, wrapped around a deep friendship, and keeping a relationship fresh.

This didn't quite work for me. I didn't really buy the plot and the MCs had zero chemistry IMO. The writing was also repetitive. There was a sweet premise but the execution wasn't satisfying. Can't recommend, unfortunately.

Maybe my perception of Tyson became a bit jaded after learning the "truth" because it kinda felt like Urban loved him more than Tyson loved him. Just from the way they speak and interact with each other felt...off. Also, the writing could use some improvement. Like, did I really read the words "nose smellers"? Whatt lol It was often redundant at times too.

I have to be careful to not give away too much in this review. The story unfolds itself fairly simply but starts off with a bang! That left me with the urge to go sneakily to the end to see what would be waiting for me :)

When we get introduced to the main characters, you undeniably want to form your opinion on both of them which will start you off on the wrong foot straight away. With that surprising and unexpected start, author Kyle Adams has you intrigued right away.

As the reader of the story you immediately feel for Urban. You want to know what brought Tyson to his decision and Urban’s devastation is very real.

In a way you could say that when you find out Tyson’s motives, it is kind of anti-climatic but on the other hand you feel such a sense of relief – at least this reader did – and interest in seeing what the author planned out for the rest of the story.

He sure doesn’t disappoint in that. He delivers a “satisfying” novella with literally a ton of surprises, with romance and serious moments topped with a nice dose of sexiness and anticipation. Let’s say I got just as anxious as Urban :)

I enjoyed reading this story and it fit perfectly with our theme week of “New Beginnings”.

In a way you might not think that if, when hearing new beginnings, you think of starting something completely new, but it can also mean starting over or re-kindling a relationship.

A comfortable easy, read with nice characters and fluid writing, which made me interested in finding more books from this author. I love his style and the way he expresses his characters emotions and his vivid descriptions.
