Der Besuch. 2 CDs: Die Geschichte einer unverhofften Wiederkehr
Der Gründer der Kirche kommt zu Besuch und wird - wie schon vor 2000 Jahren für die einen zum Stein des Anstoßes für die anderen und zum Retter und Befreier. Adrian Plass ist mit der Erzählung "Der Besuch" ein Meisterwerk gelungen, das viele Menschen berührt hat. Eindrucksvoll von Philipp Schepmann gesprochen, kommen hier feine Nuancen wie Freude, Erstaunen, Eifersucht, gekränkte Eitelkeit so zum Ausdruck, dass die Geschichte für Hörer ganz neu wird.

Adrian Plass
137 books104 followersAdrian Plass is a writer and speaker who has produced over thirty books in the last twenty years. The best known of these is probably The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass, a gentle satire on the modern church, which has sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide. This and other books have travelled to other countries and are translated into a number of foreign languages. Other books include biography, novels, short stories, a fictionalised account of the author's experiences as a residential child care worker, and collections of poems and sketches. A bemused Anglican, Adrian lives with his wife and daughter in a small market town near the Sussex South Downs.
Adrian has been in demand as a speaker in venues as varied as prisons, schools, churches, festivals, literary dinners and theatrical settings. His work also includes contribution to national and local radio and television. Live presentations combine humour, poetry, and story telling, largely revolving around his own inadequacies and struggles as a Christian and a human being.
In recent years Adrian has been joined by his wife Bridget in presenting a more varied and dramatic style of performance. Adrian and Bridget met at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and have found particular satisfaction in being allowed to ‘do a bit of acting’. They have also been privileged to work alongside World Vision on several occasions, visiting Bangladesh and Zambia, writing two books and touring both in the UK and abroad with the aim of encouraging people to take up child sponsorship
Their work now takes them as far away as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Africa, while trips to Europe have introduced the added dimension of speaking through interpreters. Not easy when you're trying to be funny!
Adrian's latest books include ‘Jesus Safe Tender and Extreme‘, published by Zondervan, ‘Blind Spots in the Bible’, published by BRF, and most recent of all ‘Bacon Sandwiches and Salvation’ published by Authentic Media. He and Bridget have also collaborated with friends in Canada to produce a CD of his favourite sketches from the last 20 years called ‘Preaching to the Converted’ while ‘A Touch of Plass’, CTA’s documentary video, is now out on DVD.
2008 began with a visit to Bolivia for Bridget and Adrian in collaboration with the charity Toybox to look at projects involving street children. Later on there will be a DVD, a book and a number of presentations promoting their work.
Adrian's central motivation continues to be his love for Jesus, although some may feel he expresses it rather eccentrically. His passion is to communicate the need for reality in faith, and a truth that he learned during a difficult stage in his life: "God is nice and he likes me..." Some have described his work as being ‘one long confessional’. They may well be right!

Ein entspanntes, lustig angehauchtes Buch was mich des Öfteren schmunzeln lies und das spannende Szenario durchspielt, wie es wohl wäre, wenn Jesus heute in unsere Gemeinde treten würde. Es lässt für mich theologisch das ein oder andere Fragezeichen offen - und ich denke, ganz genau das war das Ziel des Autors!

Audiobooka znalazłem w mojej lokalnej bibliotece. Akurat miałem ochotę na przesłuchanie jakiejś krótszej pozycji, zwróciłem również uwagę, że czyta ją jeden z moich ulubionych niemieckojęzycznych lektorów - Philipp Schepmann. Krótki opis na okładce płyty również mnie zachęcił do wypożyczenia jej. Rzutem na taśmę wypożyczyłem, przegrałem do telefonu i zacząłem słuchać tego audiobooka.
Pomysł na książkę jest dość ciekawy. Akcja toczy się współcześnie w Wielkiej Brytanii. Opisuje losy małej społeczności kościelnej w tym kraju. Nagle podczas uroczystości kościelnej pojawia się tajemniczy gość, przedstawia się jako założyciel kościoła. Najpierw pada podejrzenie, że to może Marcin Luter, który uważany jest za założyciela protestanckiego kościoła, ale nie, tajemniczy przybysz stwierdza, że przybywa z czasu o 1500 lat wcześniejszego niż sam reformator kościoła, także ksiądz oraz parafianie szybko orientują się, że przybyszem jest sam Chrystus.
Autor prowokuje swym pomysłem, ale również pokazuje nam to, jak dziwny jest nasz świat, że jeśli faktycznie w naszej rzeczywistości pojawiłby się Chrystus, szybko byłby traktowany jako celebryta oraz szybko zostałby zaszufladkowany i usystematyzowany w pewien sposób przez hierarchię i system kościelny. Musiałby przecież jakoś zostać wpasowany w strukturę kościelną.
Książka w ciekawy sposób punktuje to, jak działa zorganizowana religia i to, jak współczesny człowiek potrzebuje zorganizowanej religii. Duchowość jakby zatraca się w tym wszystkim, a struktura, hierarchia i organizacja ma większe znaczenie niż samo przesłanie, które być może niósł ze sobą "założyciel".
Książka porusza również trudne tematy takie jak homoseksualizm. Ludzie tej orientacji seksualnej w zasadzie nie mają miejsca we współczesnej konserwatywnej ideologii kościelnej. A jak patrzyłby na homoseksualistów "założyciel"? To chyba ważne pytanie nad którym warto się zastanowić.
Książka została również sfilmowana. Zwiastun filmu zapowiada się ciekawie, jest dostępny na youtube. Jednak film jest niszowy i jego dostępność dość ograniczona, także nie wiem, czy kiedykolwiek uda mi się go obejrzeć, ale na pewno zapowiada się ciekawie.
Ciekawy temat, ciekawa książka. Ponieważ nie jest obszerna szybko się ją słucha/czyta.

Leuk boekje dat ik meestal met een glimlach heb gelezen. De boodschap doet een beetje denken aan Psalm 139, maar ook aan Jesaja 55:8-9: “Mijn plannen zijn niet dezelfde als die van u en mijn gedachten zijn niet uw gedachten! Net zoals de hemel hoger is dan de aarde, zo zijn mijn wegen hoger dan die van u. Evenzo zijn mijn gedachten hoger dan de uwe.” Dat maakt Adrian Plass ook duidelijk in dit boek. Bovendien weet Jezus letterlijk alles over ons en dat vind ik een erg fijne en troostende gedachte.
Verder laat dit boek ook goed zien hoe wij onszelf en onze plannen voor dit leven zo serieus nemen – ook als God wat anders met ons van plan is. Natuurlijk kan dat moeilijk zijn als het ons tijdelijk veel verdriet brengt, maar uiteindelijk moeten we erop vertrouwen dat Hij dat weer ten goede gebruikt.
Verder laat dit boek ook goed zien hoe wij onszelf en onze plannen voor dit leven zo serieus nemen – ook als God wat anders met ons van plan is. Natuurlijk kan dat moeilijk zijn als het ons tijdelijk veel verdriet brengt, maar uiteindelijk moeten we erop vertrouwen dat Hij dat weer ten goede gebruikt.

Of je nou in Jezus gelooft of niet, het verhaal van deze figuur is er. Hoe zou het zijn als deze man/zoon van God ineens terug zou zijn op aarde en in jouw kerkgemeente zou rondlopen? Plass schrijft in een leuk boekje op hoe we gevangen kunnen zitten in verwachtingen en ijdelheid. En Jezus? Die lacht en huilt om ons mensen.

Ondanks dat het een dun boekje is, had ik het niet in een avond uit. Het duurde zelfs even voordat het boekje op gang kwam. Maar de diepgang zorgde ervoor dat ik het regelmatig even weg moest leggen om over het gelezene na te denken. Echt een aanrader voor mensen die graag een ander verhaal over Jezus wil lezen.

I read it years ago. Read it again in Nov 2017. All the nasty responses to Jesus the protagonist discovers in his own heart are so realistic and embarrassing! This makes me consider my own heart and its attitudes. Helpful book!
