When a man accidentally injures an angel sent to prevent a murder he reluctantly agrees to help, a decision that forces him to face his past, thrusts him into a situation that could very well be the end of him, and wakens him to the realization that there really is a purpose to all things in life.
Timothy Best has been a writer for nearly 30 years and works in two worlds: the advertising business and the murkier world of manuscripts.
In the advertising business, millions of Americans have seen or heard Tim's work in commercials for Allstate, A&W, Buick, Fifth Third Bank, General Electric, Jeep, Kmart, Honda, La-Z-Boy, MCA Records, McDonald's, Quaker State and many other household brands. He's worked with personalities such as Tim Allen, Rod Stewart, Lee Iacocca, Leslie Nielsen, and "Mayhem" -currently one of the most popular spokespeople in American advertising. The recipient of nearly 200 advertising honors, Tim is Creative Director at one of the largest advertising agencies in the south, and is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alabama, teaching copywriting.
As a writer of manuscripts, Tim has written plays that have been produced at the University of Michigan and the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan. He's also the author of The Petroglyph Papers, a collection of short stories and essays available on amazon.com. In 2013, Tim was signed by TouchPoint Press and his novel, Substitute Angel, was released in October of that year. It was the recipient of a Marcom Award for its e-book cover design and was also an "Editor's Pick" in both In D'Tale Magazine and on the web site, Coffee Time Romance & More. In late 2014, TouchPoint Press released the sequel/prequel to Substitute Angel entitled The Intended Ones. It was also the recipient of a Marcom Award, this time for its paperback cover design. His next novel, a historical romance entitled A Farm In Pennsylvania is scheduled for release in 2015.
A native of Michigan, Tim currently lives in Birmingham, AL, with his wife, daughter, and two rescue dogs. When he not writing, he plays in a rock 'n' roll band full of old hippies.
My friend said she read this book- it was by a new author and she really liked it. Well, I liked it too! It's a little sexy, a little inspirational (0% preachy!!!) and very romantic. Plus, it has an angel! It kept my interest and had good descriptions. It didn't "change my life" but I feel a little happier for having read it.
Walt Disney said: “Good and evil, the antagonists of all great drama in some guise, must be believably personalized. The moral ideals common to all humanity must be upheld. The victories must not be too easy. Strife to test valor is still and will always be the basic ingredient….” This tried-and-true recipe for a great story applies aptly to “Substitute Angel”.
Timothy Best masterfully weaves a tale of love, loss, faith, and identity. A perfect read anytime of the year, but especially the holiday season. This will be a regular Christmas read for me moving forward. He so immersed the reader in the setting that I felt like I was walking the streets of Charlevoix with Doc, Clair, Farren, and the other cast of characters. He crafted a story rich in detail, morality, and emotions. A relatable and wonderful tale. Well done.
Strange coincidental story. I read this book because I agreed to narrate the audiobook. Unbeknownst to me or the author at the time of that agreement, is that the story takes place about 8 miles from my house. The author very succinctly captures the character of Charlevoix, Mi.
