Family/Psyschology Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) is a psychiatric behavior disorder that is characterized by aggressiveness and a tendency to purposefully bother and irritate others. Children with ODD show a consistent pattern of refusing to follow commands or requests by adults. They tend to lose their temper, argue with adults and blame others for their mistakes. Zenia Marsden started noticing serious problems with her son, Jeremy, when he refused all efforts at potty training. She soon realized he found satisfaction in damaging or destroying things, or in disobeying her rules to remain in sight while she tended to farm animals and chores, or routine household tasks. He frustrated his teachers from preschool into high school.
Not super impressed. Was hoping for more survival tactics, more insight, more coping mechanisms... instead it read more like a post-facto diary. Easy read, though. Breezed through it and empathized with Zenia. It's short....and apparently popular at my local library... Glad her son turned out OK. Hoping mine will, too. Not really much else to comment on.
I see a lot of hate in the comments- I understand where any see as her talking cruel. I thought that too but also feel everything she is saying. This is not a book for advice, it’s a book to NOT FEEL ALONE. I also purchased the ODD activities book by Laura McLaughlin and highly recommend!
Terrible book. Basically it’s a woman hating her ex-husband and mother-in-law and telling the reader all the bad things her son did. No strategies at all.
