Cleaning and organizing your house ranks near the bottom on most people's list of activities that they enjoy. When people think of cleaning they often imagine long days of labor, sweat, and sometimes tears. The problem is that most people will wait until their living situation is so messy it become unbearable. We find that most people will hide their junk, garbage, and clutter in their closets, dressers, and drawers. They will only take action once these areas are full and they have no where else to put their clutter. This can lead to long weekends of deep cleaning and organizing. This problem is only further compounding if you are trying to keep a clean house and you have a large family. This book will change the way you view cleaning!.
Often the main obstacle to cleaning and organizing the home is not knowing where to start. This book not only offers a suggestion as to where to start, but it gives a 31-day plan that will help you finish. Many of the days offer only general suggestions, so people who need more detailed information on cleaning and organizing will need to look into other books to supplement this one. I will say, though, that many of the "Tips of the Day" that are distributed throughout the book are very helpful, and I have yet to see some of them anywhere else. As is the case with many of the books I've read on cleaning and organizing, the book could use more careful editing.
I did manage to complete Day 1 after I finished reading it. Now to get through the rest of the 30 days. Will I use this book that often? Probably not since I tend to have big cleaning days but I will try it out. Thank you for the guidelines.
I have always done the thing with picking up and putting things away at night due to working full time and having four children. It seems funny all these years later to find out that I was just being organized. Ha... This did give me some pointers to add to what I have always done and I must say that it has helped in keeping things in place. There is just two of us now so the mess level has greatly decreased but I have always said that anyone can use pointers. I really did enjoy going through the book and breaking out the ones that will really do me some good. Thanks for putting it all in prospective, it has helped. Highly recommend this for newbies just getting started. If you start out doing these little things now, when your family size increases you won't freak out. This little guide will have you all squared away and ready for the extra work load.
I've read a lot of books on cleaning and organization, but this is one of my favorites. I completed Day 1 of the plan today, so I still have a long way to go. I did, however, go ahead and read the entire book to see what's in store for the coming month. It appears that by following the plan as it is laid out, you can keep your house spotless by investing just 25-30 minutes per day. Very manageable for even the most busy person! Of course, your best results will come from cycling back through the book each month. One of my favorite things about this book is that it's filled with helpful cleaning tips that make tough jobs a cinch!
I live in a home with 5 bedrooms, 5 full baths and 2 laundry rooms. We have 3 floors with a beautiful basement (I call it a Terrace level). The quality of this level is as good or better than the main floor and 3rd floor. When purchased our intent was to use it as an investment (pre-recession). We've lived here as empty nesters for 9 years.I was very organized. Now my husband and I are retired. My husband is disabled now. We really need to sell our house, so organization, cleaning etc. are very necessary for me since I'm own my own. Your book is full of ideas and short cuts and Makes my overwhelming job seem doable.
This is a great book for those who don't know where to begin and need some good organizational tips. Helps with structure and creating a routine for keeping the house spic and span. Written in a clear manner and the author seems to be mindful of the readers time to devote to cleaning. I would recommend this book.
Predominantly a cleaning schedule, with very little in the way of specific organizing tips, which is unfortunate since lacking organization in the first place makes adhering to the cleaning schedule difficult at best.
Really, are there so many people who don't bother cleaning their houses for months? It gives a plan for lazy people with big houses how to keep a house looking normal. Although I agree it is easier to do a bit everyday, I disagree with vacuuming the house once a month.
Quick read. Good tips. I know how to clean, but this provides a solid plan to keep clean beneath the surface and allow for a more zen environment, something I'm working on throughout 2015. I'm gonna go through the plan to clear out some clutter from my apartment, which will really test this book!
I think that this book is aimed more at people who do no cleaning at all. There was a few tips in there which I found helpful but on the whole I did not get much from it.
This was great for me as I don't have a system and this provided a beginner a system. I know just what to do every day, and it's in just 30 minutes. Rock on!
nothing i didnt know but good to have it layed out like this. i will be starting this process as i get home from vacation, where i read it in a short short time
