Twelfth Keeper #2

Center of the Universe

Rate this book
End of the world? Possibly. Taking a vacation wasn’t what Kennedy Mitchell had in mind after aliens threatened to attack Earth. Although she’s happy spending time with her family, she begins to question DOE’s motives for sending her home when she should be training. Something’s up and she knows it. Searching for answers, she turns to Phoenix, the one person she can trust…or so she thought. It seems even he has secrets, and the more she discovers, the more she wonders if anything they had together was real. The stakes are higher than they’ve ever been. One keeper goes missing. Another is determined to destroy her. As if that isn't enough to deal with, everyday humans get closer to annihilation. This time Kennedy has no one to rely on but herself. Hey, no one said keeping the world safe was easy. The Twelfth Keeper series doesn't belong to one particular genre. A blend of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Dystopia surrounds swoonworthy romance that takes place on Earth and across the Universe. Mild violence and swearing. This is book TWO of The Twelfth Keeper Center of the Universe Ocean of Stars Infinite Night Electric Skies Stardust Dreams (coming soon)

I received this book free form the author in exchange for an honest review.
After reading book one and falling in love I was over the moon when I was asked to read book two, and I was not disappointed and actually I loved this one more if that was even possible. I found this book to be an exciting ride, with an amazing ability to be relate able in a world of the future awaiting alien attack. I love Belle Malory's writing she makes me feel like I am right there and the dialog is very real, I feel the same things these characters do and it's so easy to lose myself in the vivid movie playing in my head.
Kennedy was stronger and more determined making me like her even more than I already did. Finally accepting her place as a keeper was great for her character and the story it seemed to give her more purpose and understanding, and to me it changed many of her relationships both for the good and the bad (but you have to read to find out why hahaha). Sometimes I wanted to shake her and tell her to snap out of it when it came to Phoenix, but I also understood her reasons and found myself wanting to hug her and eat ice cream. Phoenix, what can I say about him *Sigh* hit, gorgeous, strong and a control of fire need I say more oh wait lets not forget the sexy accent I hear in my head every time he speaks. Watching him fight for Kennedy was the best and I will think about waking up to him cooking waffles for a long time, I don't even care if they are gross as long as he is shirtless :)
It was nice to see some of the keepers travel around, getting a change of scenery was cool. In book one most of it took place on Olympus and that's not a bad thing, I think Olympus is cool but I like earth too, and Kennedy going home added some drama and even some mended fences .
My only beef was with the ending, now don't get me wrong it was awesome, full of adventure and heroics but that cliffhanger Belle how could you do that to me lol I was so sad to see I had reached the end and I was so sad that it left me longing for so much more. I am so pumped for book 3 and I hope and pray I don't have to wait to long. Thank you again to the wonderful author for letting me be a part of this wonderful series. Everyone get a copy now!!!! you wont regret it.

Centre of the Universe started right where The Twelfth Keeper ended. I must say I like this book better than the first. I enjoyed the various relationships that we get the learn about, it really helped get to know the characters better. I feel like this instalment showed more emotions and dealt with quite a few realistic teenage situations. I just really enjoy Belle Malory's writing and where she takes the reader. Centre of the Universe was a fast read that was action packed and filled with a budding romance!
Kennedy and Phoenix come out of their shells a bit more in this book and we actually get to see their relationship grow and hit a few speed bumps along the way. The only part that turned me off was that Kennedy could "suck face" with Hunter and its no big deal, but Pheonix and Fang kiss and its a deal breaker? WTH? Double standards. But I did like the glimpse into the different relationships, especially between Kennedy, her mom and her sister. But the best part of the whole book is learning about Nika's past! Now if only we could learn about the rest of the keepers before its too late.
Not usually is a second book better than the first, but Belle Malory accomplished just that. Plus with that ending in a cliffhanger how could you not want to continue on with the series. I would recommend this series to all sci- Fi lovers and those who enjoy a hint of paranormal.

I really enjoyed the Twelfth Keeper and looked forward to continuing the story of Kennedy and Phoenix. When I started Center of the Universe, I quickly realized it had a different feel. But that’s not always a bad thing.

The first book focused more on introducing the keepers and setting the stage for an apocalyptic fight. There was mystery and intrigue, especially since no one knew much about Phoenix. This second book focuses more on Kennedy finding herself and on the emotional connection of the pair, with a new mystery for the keepers to figure out.

At the start, Kennedy has been sent home to visit her family. She’s confused about this since a war is brewing and only the keepers can save Earth. Life at home isn’t the same anymore. Her family has changed, or maybe it’s just her. The neighbor next door still has feelings for her, but Kennedy is confused. Even worse, she hasn’t been able to determine how Phoenix really feels.

There’s a lot of drama between the pair, which seems silly at times but serves as a reminder that they’re just teens trying to figure out their place in life. They’re training to save Earth from an alien invasion, but they can’t figure out how to tell each other how they feel. Kind of sums up being a teen. This book gives Phoenix a larger dose of humanity, with emotions that weren’t quite fleshed out in the first book.

I think I liked the first book slightly more, but overall Center of the Universe was a fun read - emotional and relatable with an ending that caught me off-guard. Several hints were made about what will happen in the future. I’ll definitely be reading Book #3.

This book I would consider more of a novella. It is short, not leaving much room for developing a storyline. I liked the first book better and I felt that there were holes in the overall flow. I didn't like the way the book changed character perspective at times. That being said, this is still a good quick story.

This book was pretty darn good. I loved the questioning of Kennedy and Phoenix's relationship, I am a sucker for romance! With the whole love triangle (square) thing the author was rocking, well it was a great heart wrencher. However I did feel like the whole situation was blown off quite quickly, and Pheonix's actions were forgiven top quickly for the suspense of the big to be held with a degree of reality, even though it is fiction. Another aspect of the book I enjoyed was the exploration into Nikka's past and into her mental issues (if they were any in the first place) this unexpected dive into one of the twelves lives was unexpected and well written, on the other hand I would have liked Malory to produce more connections to the characters other than the main characters and the robot, especially with the cunning twist at the end. Also I would have preferred the book to have more longevity to it as the plot line developed so quickly some time i would have to go back and re-read the chapter, which is not something you want, so basically what is am saying is i would have liked the book to be linger and more detailed, that just shows you how much i actually enjoyed the book as i want more of it with more details. So all I ask of Malory is write them faster, longer and more dramatic. Awesome book can't wait for numero treo

I read the first book in this series, and I was like --

I can't get enough of Nix and Kennedy! I love the passion between them, the sizzling darkness of Phoenix, and the way his love blazes trails for Ms. Mitchell!

Needless to say, I can't wait for more!

A few hiccups occur, all accidental, and incidents that are worth looking over....but Phoenix has another side to him, the one Kennedy sees and the one in her dreams. Which really just gets me going.

I enjoy this world, the characters, the danger, the missions, I especially love reading about Kennedy, the Heroine to me is relatable, and all her actions and reactions are logical for an emotional chick thrown into the mix with work, love and play.

Needless to say, I can't wait for the next one! Especially with Fang out of the picture! LOL

I did very much enjoy this book, as I did the first one, but I'm left feeling like it lacked something. I think the books needed to be that little bit longer with more explorations of the world and the relationships. I just didn't FEEL Kennedy and Pheonix's emotions as I'd have liked to because there wasn't enough development of their relationship. In book 1 they went from not really ever speaking- Pheonix ignoring Kennedy and Kennedy being all awkward around Pheonix- to them being all serious and smoochy. In this book, they again spend very little time together and yet it's developed to love. It would be nice to know a bit more about the other keepers and just what it is they do on the whole protecting earth thing. I think the conflicts also need building up more because I couldn't arouse a sense of urgency over the sae- yers threat, nor could I when Plaffle went screwy in b1 .I love the characters, I just really want a little more pull to draw me into their world.

I found this book very 'Meh'. Although I love the idea behind the story I think that the story focuses too much on the relationship between the two protagonists. From this, I feel that the brilliant idea of space, magic and mystery is somewhat diluted to become another 'woe is me, I'm a teenager and I'm in love...' story.

Another problem I had with the story was that it would delve into one part attempt to develop certain characters and then suddenly shift and not mention them ever again.

The story was too rushed and I can't help but think that it would better suit one long book divded into parts, rather than into a trilogy or a saga or whatever Malory intends it to be.

On the plus side, however, I really do love the idea behind the story. If it focused more on the action this book would have had the potential to be truely amazing.

The story is very good and the world building fantastic. However in this book of the series I can't stand Kennedy Mitchell. I just want to reach in and slap the crap out of her! She was too chicken to tell Hunter the truth about her and Phoenix, so the poor guy finds out when he sees her kissing Phoenix. Then she can't be bothered to attempt to apologize for not being upfront with him afterwards. Later when Phoenix becomes the victim of Fang's temper tantrum because he doesn't think of her as a lover, Kennedy has a hissy fit, blames him for "breaking her heart" and won't even discuss it. She's a flaming hypocrite! She's selfish and childish as well. Not once does she apologize to Phoenix for her hypocritical behavior but Phoenix is the one groveling. I understand how the book got the title now; Kennedy Mitchell thinks she's the center of the universe.

I adore the world Belle Malory has crafted for us with The Twelfth Keeper series. Center of the Universe is a coming-of-age story that picks up with our heroine Kennedy and her sexy love interest, Phoenix. Teen angst and drama ensue with love triangles on both sides and investigation into the threats outside their universe reveals new enemies. In true, sequel fashion, Center of the Universe ups the stakes as these futuristic teen supers navigate relationships and their place in the world they were born to protect.

Great book...I felt it was a little rushed in places, but generally a good read. I would have like Malory to take the characters a little deeper, by that I mean more development through out the story. If your into Cassandra Clare and the immortal instruments series your love this. When's book 3 out?

This was a great story and continuation of the first," Twelfth Keeper." Kennedy is sent home on vacation, which is a puzzle to her. Her trouble starts with her best friend, Hunter, and even gets more compicated with her true love , Phoenix. And then there is Fang. With all this is the upcoming invasion of the Sae-yers! It was a too quick read:( But I loved it.

Wow

The book ended with a horrible cliffhanger, but still wow! I cannot wait for the next book. The relationship struggles between the two main characters started to become annoying, but it was very gratifying that they got over that pettiness when it really counted. It seems like the real fight is about to begin.

This book was better than the first. I'm a sucker for useless drama sometimes. I think that the whole fantasy part of the book still needs some serious work. In fact I think the author does romance/drama way better than fantasy. Without the super powers and aliens this book was pretty good.

We get to the exciting parts and then it just drops. I feel this story has so much potential with an awesome plot, but the way it's organized or written just makes it feel mediocre when the story is far from it. Not sure if I want to continue, especially with the ending....what in the world!
