EXCERPT

"We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe that men will be punished for their own sins and not for Adam's transgression.

We believe that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

We believe that these ordinances are 1st, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; 2d, Repentance; 3d, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; 4th, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that a man must be called of God by "prophesy, and by laying on of hands" by those who are in authority to preach the gospel and administer in the ordinances there

First time finishing the Bible cover to cover, thanks to the gospel library app for holding my place. The Old Testament still creeps me out a little, but I recognize the importance of covenants more than ever. Also the prevalence of compensatory blessings--like when God saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb. I love reading about the Savior. There's still so much of the New Testament that went over my head, but for that I'm grateful God has called prophets and apostles to guide us now. Especially through the trials that are to be faced before Christ comes again.

This year we are studying the New Testament in Sunday School. I will be reading it again on my own, along with the Book of Mormon which I listen to on Audible during my daily commute.

I enjoy reading scriptures. I look forward to doing so this year with the guidance of the home study guide "Come Follow Me."

This is perhaps my fifth reading of the Old Testament.

I love the Old Testament. It abounds with tales of people who struggle, and who either build a relationship with, or reject, God.

The Bible show how involved with us is God, and how merciful he is, allowing us to go down whichever paths we choose, warning us of paths that lead to sorrow, and welcoming us back over and over as we return to him.

In the Book of Mormon, we are urged:

Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

Nothing better helps me remember how merciful the Lord has been, than the Old Testament. If he was that patient with the characters in that book, maybe he will be merciful even to me.

December 20, 2023: I finished the New Testament. I have no idea how often I have read it, but as always, it brings me closer to my Savior.

I think I learned more this time in reading the New Testament.

I've only read it twice before, but I guess with age and repetition, we can all get more out of the scriptures. I also feel that watching "The Chosen" on TV helped. Another thing I did was read The Book of Mormon while reading the New Testament and I found a lot of parallels between the two books. Of course, how could I not, both books are about Jesus Christ.

I did it in two months. It is an amazing book. I love the four Gospels. After that it is a bit heavy on circumcision!

The Old Testament is a bit of grind and there are some disturbing parts. I did not read it all—just the parts that are for Sunday School. Also heavy on the circumcision.

I just finished the New Testament. What a wonderfully uplifting read.
