Such a sad ending to a glorious life of valor. This book really delves into the deep unbreakable bonds of motherhood, despite all the apparent hate and anger. The witch warrior still has a heart full of love.

Despite feeling like its world is made on the fly, I think that the Saga of Frost has been a real treat, this book serving as the best in the series and a wonderful ending to the series. It takes all the elements that I've previously talked up and does them well again, adding a kind of feminine strength to Frost that I've been sorely missing from the other books.

It can be a bit tiresome though, as explanations and paragraphs have a tendency to drag the pace down, often using two paragraphs to explain something that only needed one, which doesn't sound like much, but it builds up. There's also the problem of the mystery of who the real villain is being kind of obvious.

Still, a deeply overlooked, underrated fantasy novel, and series, that I'd highly recommend to other fans of fantasy.

I inadvertently read this book first when I read this series and it has stuck with me for years. Bailey does a fine job of writing a middle-aged female character who has to return to a life she thought she'd left behind. Good series, very worthwhile Book 3.
