Unfortunately I did not finish this book, but wanted to so badly that I attempted 3 different times to do so. I could not finish this book because of a combination of two words that sums up my feelings about the overall language: overthinking and flowery.

I wanted to relate to what the author was sharing. But I kept getting stuck after each section and sub-section. If I had gotten this book earlier, when the church I was attending selected it for women's studies, I'm pretty sure I would've had a much better time with it as it is definitely meant to be read with a group (and, women have shared that they loved this book when they read it with their groups). Over the years I have also discovered that I prefer a much more forward and straight style of writing when it comes to non-fiction, as it matches up with my personality more. Lysa Terkeurst is an author whose writing that I've been able to connect with deeply for this exact reason, during this time of spiritual focus.

This is a great book! Robin is so open and vulnerable and as someone with a lot of insecurities that can feel like I'm alone, I really appreciate it! A few of my friends have also read it and loved it!

Unless I get REALLY proficient in Spanish, I probably will never really completely read this 335 page book--because it is too hard for me to truly comprehend in a foreign language. I skimmed the book and found parts that I really wanted to spend extra effort in translating. One part was chapter 8 called "En Sus Proprias Palabras". This tells a very interesting story of a young woman raised in Beijing, China. She was raised in a communist home by parents who praised her for excelling and her achievements. She was constantly struggling to be the top of her class in every endeavor. She made her parents exceptionally proud when she was accepted for enrollment at the University of Chicago. She had an insecurity and emptiness that could not be filled, and she searched until she was fulfilled with Christ's love. After this seven page short story about Xin's life is a "Guía para el estudio personal y la aplicación a la vida called "Tendré éxito La Guía. This section gives you a 7 step process to become secure in your heart through Christ.
I will should buy the book in English if I really want to understand this. :)

I grew so much by reading this book. Between the scripture references, the personal stories -- not just of the author, but of numerous women -- I was able to examine my heart, understand that I'm not the first woman to be insecure, and make strides towards being a more powerful woman of God. A must read for any female Christian, or even for any woman wanting to know more about where God's plan for her is in her messy, sometimes great, sometimes tragic, life.

There are some books that become friends for life, always on a shelf nearby. This is one of those books. I'm sure I'll be reading and rereading this many times (which I don't do often!). I love the honesty and candid openess about her insecurities and fears that we as women face on a daily basis. I also appreciate the many scriptures she gives to help us see how God truly views us. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

A very good book that addresses the sources of insecurities many women must face. She begins by proposing that Satan chose to tempt Eve first by planting a seed of insecurity in her otherwise perfect world in the Garden. She then lays out seven "false securities" that Satan offers to women today. I used this book as a source for a class on insecurity and found it very helpful. It is very easy to read and very practical.

This was an amazing book that really helped me gain security in God. Robin does a great job of linking insecurities we feel from Satan to the truth in God's word which helped me so much. I would recommend this book to any woman who has ever felt insecure and suggest to rake your time and really work through the chapters and scriptures.
